As a person we are shaped by our environment from childhood we are taught what is right and wrong, as we grow we adjust our actions so they fall inline with our beliefs, environments and law.

Since our Morals and ethics are a creation of what we learn we can often see the behaviour and actions of others to be morally and ethically wrong we then start to consider ourselves morally superior than other.

When we consider our morally superior we can bend our own morals to prove other wrong, which diminish us a person and a race. A great example of this is the Christians who have a range of commandments one of which is not to kill, but during their history they have killed and killed again and again even in the 21st century they still kill in the name of their god because they see their actions to be divine and justified.

Now all of know that murder is wrong and we should not do it but we all no matter how much a pacifist we are, there are circumstances in which we would kill, normally in the defence of others or ourselves.

We choice to ignore our moral and social ethics so we can justify our actions.

As pagans and witches we also have a dark past in which we killed in the name of our gods even today we still retain the gods of death and destruction and in some paths animal sacrifice still continues (where they do still practice animal sacrifice the animals life is taken and the meat is consumed as communion).

Many Neo pagans would deny this practice still exist as their moral code says this type of action is against the god and goddess, but pagans are not the only religion that has animal sacrifice both the Jewish and Islamic faiths have ritual animal sacrifice (Halal and kosher).

As a person we become responsible for our own actions, our behaviour must corrispond to the society rules or we become outcasts. Sometime when we believe strongly against a law or action of others we become actifists (Some activists try to persuade people to change their behavior directly, rather than persuade governments to change laws).

When we become spiritual people we choose a higher moral code that matches our beliefs often written by leaders of that path. For the eclectic witch we have to develop our own personal moral code in most cases we will adopt (and or adapt) a spiritual code from other paths.

For this section you are required to build your own spiritual and personal code of ethics you can adapt the wiccan rede, the nine noble virtues, hellenic Ethics or any path or religions code of ethics to help you.

Faery Sugar

3 cups fine white sugar
1 tablespoon Vanilla extract (the good stuff)
1/8 teaspoon red food coloring
Glass container

Lay sugar on wax paper & sprinkle on the Vanilla ~ Stir into the sugar till all mixed in. ~ Next sprinkle on the red food coloring and incorporate in till sugar turns Faery pink. ~ Save in glass container, you have labeled ‘Faery Sugar’ ~ You can now use this special treat in Faery cookies, cakes and offerings to the Fae. You can eat some your self, but remember the recipe is a secret!

Candied Violets

An egg white
Violet flowers and leaves
Fine or crystal Sugar
Small paint Brushes

1. Wash the violets and leaves, and let dry.
2. Separate the egg. Put yolk away for other use.
3. Dip small brush in egg whites and paint petals front and back.
4. Sprinkle sugar on the violets covering them completely.
5. Put the violets on waxed paper to dry.
You can do the leaves in the same manner.
Use as garnish on ice cream, cakes and offering to the wee ones

Lavender Herb Bread 

1 pk Active dry yeast
1/4 cup Warm water
1 cup Low-fat cottage cheese
1/4 cup Honey
2 TB sweet Butter
1 Ts Dried lavender buds
1 TB Fresh lemon thyme
1/2 TB Fresh basil; finely chopped
1/4 Ts Baking soda
2 Eggs
2 1/2 cup Unbleached flour
Softened Sweet Butter (for top)

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in water. In a larger bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, honey, butter, herbs, baking soda and eggs. Stir in the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour to form a stiff dough, beating well after each addition. Cover and let rise about 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk. Stir the dough down with a spoon. Place in a well-greased 1 1/2 or 2 qt. casserole or ten 4″ individual pie tins. Let rise 30 to 40 minutes, or until doubled in bulk. Bake at 350 F. for one hour for a large loaf, 20 to 30 minutes for small loaves. When done, turn onto a rack, brush top(s) with soft butter, and let cool.

Yield: 1 large round loaf or 10 individual dinner rolls.

The belief system of druidry can vary from Celtic tradition to an artistic or Christian mix, and it can also range from a spiritual path including paths that are not necessarily sympathetic to a pagan belief structure to charitable organisation.

The two main groups related to Druidry are The British Druid Order (founded 1979) which is a pagan group which is goddess orientated and the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids which is both pagan and Christian.

There are also druid paths which worship local god/dessess of local spirits for example at Wayland’s Smithy a druid may show honour to the old gods of the builder and the Anglo Saxon Wayland.while  some work with a particular deities, regardless of tradition or culture, because of their own cultural or spiritual background or because these deities seek them out.

Druidry stresses the mystery of poetic inspiration and explores healing, divination and sacred mythology. Following the problems at Stonehenge in 1988, The Council of British Druid Orders was founded as a focus for communication between the various different groups. Some Pagan-sympathetic member orders are: The Glastonbury Order of Druids, which works with the Glastonbury mythos; The London Druid group, founded in 1986 which has associated Celtic and magical groups; and the Druid Clan of Dana, a daughter organisation of the Fellowship of Isis.

A Druid explains:

‘Druidry has no book of law, the only lessons being those learnt from nature. There are no gurus and hierarchy is kept to a working minimum. Central to Druidic belief is a love of nature combined with the pragmatic view that spiritual insight should be expressed in daily life. Druidry stresses the importance of working as a part of a group and working as an individual to develop the spiri tual life. Druidry is especially concerned with the ecological crisis faced by the modern world, and works in many ways for the healing of the Earth.

Druidry represents another branch of the flourishing tree of Pagan spirituality. Druidry grows from strength to strength, answering in its own voice the call of the Divine.

Most people know Doreen Virtue from her extensive range of angel books and cards. Doreen Virtue was an extremely talented clairvoyant as a child but due to the fact that she would be teased on what she heard and saw by family and friends made it difficult for her to accept her gifts. The love spell is a very controversial spell although the love spell has been around since the dawn of magicks. Like the binding spell the love spell is designed to compel an individual to do something that is not in the nature.

Are any reason that are stopping you from being open to love if there are then you should sort these out before hand. While letting your breathing becomes deeper and even, picture yourself standing with your feet apart hands by your sides with your fingers naturally open. Allow your breathing to relax your body and clear your mind.

Picture a circle of energy near the base of your spine. This energy is strong. It connects you to the earth. This energy generates instinctive feelings of survival. It urges you to love and care for yourself.

Move up to the next circle of energy in your pelvic area – this is the center of your emotions. Your acceptance of pleasure springs from this energy source. Accepting the joy and contentment derived from physical pleasure will contribute to overall balance in life.

The energy of the third Chakra is near the naval area. Your creativity will flow from here. The essence of your spirituality begins with this positive energy source. With this Chakra, flashes of enlightenment will occur — moments of true understanding of the world and all it contains. All events and emotions are clear and during those moments, everything makes sense. This highest energy source is the essence of all life and existence. It is true magic and it is yours.

Yule is named for the little-known Celtic goddess Yulie, who is in charge of gifts, alcohol, fertility, and cold nights. As a Celtic goddess, of course her worshippers were peaceful Wiccans, accepting of everyone including homosexuals. Also, since the Celts created the religion that was utilized the world over, she corresponds to the Roman Yulinius, the Greek Yulinex, and the Norse Yulo, as well as the Native American Yu.

The origin of the holiday Yule dates back to prehistoric times. Yulie and the other gods and goddesses would visit the earth once per year in their spacecraft on the Winter Solstice, and a large log would be set ablaze to guide the spacecraft to the villages. This is the origin of the traditional Yule log. Often the pumpkins left over from Samhain would be dried enough by this time to be used as kindling for the Yule log. The villagers would stand around the Yule log chanting “An it harm none, do what you will,” until the spacecraft arrived. The spacecraft had spiny landing gear with small round globes on them, and the plant mistletoe, representing the landing gear, would be hung up as a symbol of the wishes of the faithful that Yulie would visit them with gifts. Often trees would be knocked down by the landing of the space ship. It was considered very beneficial to take one of these trees, decorate it and place it around your home to demonstrate your love of Yulie (obviously, as these were a very environmentally-conscious people, they would never dream of cutting down trees. That would be as bad as eating meat!).

The visits were time of even more love and peace than usual, as the gods and goddesses would exchange gifts with the mortals, using a complex system that was the basis for the modern “Chinese auction.” Songs would be sung such as “Away in a Spacecraft,” (later to become “Away in a Manger,” as we will see), the “12 Days of Yulie,” and the “Little Drummer Boy” (who originally banged out counterpoint to the chanting of “An it harm none, do what you will.”)

Once she had landed, Yulie would take the role of high priestess in the Winter Solstice rituals. The actual ritual has been passed down from generation to generation, and is now available in any Llewellyn book, with the appropriate cultural alterations.

Yulie one year became enamored of a mortal, and gave birth to Yesus, a story which greatly affected a group of Jews. Unfortunately, the story became garbled over time, and the spaceship became a beacon star which marked the place of Yesus’s birth. Great wise ancient tolerant pagans who practiced Wicca hastened to the site, with gifts for the baby Yesus.

Unfortunately, as Christianity became more and more confused about Yesus’s nature, they turned on the peaceful Yulie worshippers, and forced them to worship their own mean version of Yesus. Yulie was demoted to a minor supporting character, supposedly simply being a virgin, sometimes depicted on a donkey. The ancient Wiccans (being a peace-loving people who accepted everyone) had no way to fight back, and either became Christians or went underground, keeping their secrets until Gerald Gardner arrived on the scene. Yulie’s role as a bringer of gifts was transferred to a older fat man with a beard, because of the patriarchal nature of the new religion, and the spacecraft was called a sleigh, which, although it still flew, had no life support systems to maintain life in space.

Lunar deities can be male or female and these deities can also change to become solar deities and vice versa. For me the moon is a visual representation of the female aspect of the Devine and not “The” or “A” goddess but all goddess’s: the total female aspect.�
There are physical representations of “woman” in the moon cycle 29.53 days (29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes) very close to a woman menstrual cycle. Also the  [wikipedia]phases of the moon [/wikipedia] resembles the life cycles with in womanhood, aging,  [wikipedia]pregnancy [/wikipedia] and  [wikipedia]menopause [/wikipedia] and all aspects of life.�
The Phase of the moon can also be attuned to the seasons and spell casting as well as your own life. It is a good idea to keep a moon diary and make note of your moods, your menstrual cycle or your own internal cycle.

Below is how I see the phases of the moon as a solitary practitioner I have to attune myself to myself for magickal working while groups attune to the group energy each group or person will have their own view of the moon and every single one is a correct view.�
The New Moon�
For me the new is the beginning and the end it contains all the hidden mysteries of woman and all the worst aspects of woman the side that when evoked is feared.�
First Quarter�
For me this aspect relates to the maiden aspect of the goddess because of the new possibilities and the sense of growth and understanding and the potential of new energy.�
There is always a sense of silliness for me around this time for me, which I enjoy.�
For me this phase of the moon relates to spring the hope of new beginnings, growing in strength, becoming fertile and this will reflect on what spell or rituals I plan to perform during the new moon.�
In the first quarter I would cast spells for strengthening will power, health or financial situations.�
Full Moon�
For me the is very much the mother aspect of the goddess, each time I look on the full moon I can feel the smile of a loving mother watching over me. For me the full moon fills me with a sense that I am protected someone is always lighting my way, and my back is always covered.�
For me this phase of the moon relates to the summer and transformations, relaxation, friendship, and taking some personal time. Personally I do not cast spells during the full moon unless there is an emergency but I do perform ritual where the focus is to gain understanding and patience and learn to accept the life that I have been given and that changes what will happens when it is right like a mother waiting to give birth it will happen when it meant to not before or after with whatever results are meant to be.�
The last quarter.�
This phase of the moon always reminds me of my mother in the last few years of her life. She had found her soul mate had a nice home and mellowed so much as a person and she had become friend and confidant but she still had a vicious side.

She was mother, stepmother and grandmother and dying with an understanding the she was passing away a crone.

This phase for me relates to autumn and the slow death of nature the weakening of the sun the whole winding down.

The rituals and spells I would perform in this phase would be spells or rituals to weaken or end things in healing ritual I would work to lessen the illness (NB; always work to weaken illness never symptoms, weaken or reducing symptoms can make the person worse as your spell will mask the illness).

The New Moon

And we are back to the new moon and in this phase I see the in a number of ways first I see the true crone stepping in to death I see the maiden and the mother I see all the contradiction, life and death, I see the eternity of unknown knowledge, the darkness of fear.

This phase to me is winter the thing that becomes hidden a time for withdrawal and darkness.

This would be the time to do protection spells; this would also be the time to perform darker magicks such as spells for personal gain, bindings or insuring that people get what is coming to them. If you do decide to work darker magicks beware the rule of three what you send out comes back threefold.

Honour the Goddess in all things and view the moon as a living photo of the mother gaze on it daily and connect with the moon as a huge power source of cosmic female energy and not as a living deity.

Like most goddess Pele’s origins are a bit of a mystery what can be agreed upon is she came from From Tahiti and found home in Hawaii Kilauea.

In one version Her older sister Nā-maka-o-Kahaʻi, a sea goddess, fears that Pele’s ambition would smother the home-land and drove Pele away. Along with her sister and 3 bothers they row south in a canoe called Honua-i-a-kea till they arrive at the Islands of Hawai wher she leaves Kane-milo-hai on Mokupapapa, Kane-apua om Hihoa but she is eventually torn apart and her bones become the hills of Kahikinui and her spirit escapes into the Islans of Hawaii

While another version says her older sister Namaka, the sea goddess, constantly sent ocean waves to roll over Pele’s home to snuff out her flames. And in attempts to escape her she travel with her favourite sister Hi’iaka, who is the patroness of Hula cradled in her armpit to many island but confronted with her sister tidal waves and a jealous snow goddess who attempted to put out Pele’s flames with blizzards she continued to move on until she found a home in the Volcano Kilauea (which means spreading) on Hawaii

The most common version though is that she was exiled by her father because of her temper, most recently for fighting with her elder water-goddess sister Na-maka-o-Kaha’i, whose husband Pele had seduced.

Pele’s Kamohoali’i brother, the king of the sharks, gave her a great canoe called Honua-i-a-kea , which she and her brothers traveled far from home, to find Hawaii.

Pele continue to Battles with her sister Namakaokahai the Sea Goddess as She carried her little sister, Hi’iaka who is know as the patroness of hula dancers, in egg-form, on the way over to the Hawaiian islands.

When Pele got to Hawaii, she first used her Pa’oa, or o’o stick on Kauai striking deep into the earth but she was attacked by her older sister and left for dead. Pele recovered and fled to Oahu, where she dug several “fire pits,” including the crater we now called Diamond Head, in Honolulu. After that, Pele left her mark on the island of Molokai before traveling further southeast to Maui and creating the Haleakala Volcano.

By then, Namakaokahai, Pele’s older sister, realized she was still alive and she went to Maui to do battle. Finally, the epic battle ended near Hana, Maui, where Pele was torn apart by her sister. Legend says her bones remain as a hill called Ka-iwi-o-Pele.

Upon death, she became a god and found a home on Mauna Kea, on the Island of Hawai’i. Pele dug her final and eternal fire pit, Halemaumau Crater, at the summit of Kilauea Volcano. She is said to live there to this day and is thought to be very happy there because it was the Navel of the World, Ka Piko o ka Honua — were the gods began creation.

Pele is well known for having a bad temper and swift punishment to those she find unworthy but she is equally kind and generous to the worthy. She can often be found in mortal guise as an old beggar woman with a white dog a form she uses to test mortals those that share reap her rewards those that shun her receive her worst.

She can appear in any female form from stunning beauty to hideous hag always willing to share.

Pele is the ultimate woman she shows us the potential we all have inside to help or harm she is the goddess of Fire untameable and wild she can protect or distroy. But the greatest gifts Pele gives is the reminder that no matter who difficult things are in time we all find our place in life.
