Samhain poem or chant

grave-150x150 grave-150x150

Sunsets and I hear deaths call, distant friends out side my walls, coming closer and even closer still, lost friends and family who died while ill. I take a knife and carve a face and illuminate and set a place the final feast that all must eat and face the death we all must greet. Alone in silence I hear the chatter about the things that don’t matter, a reminder of the years that past, rejoicing that it not my last. The fire burns orange and black, it now the time to look back, at the lives and loves we have lost, the time to count the emotional cost. In sadness this is not done, it now the time for Samhain Fun, So bob for apples and trick and treat, for old friend your sure to meet. Gather close the ones you love and look upon the moon above, While remembering days that have past, enjoy the party and have a blast. Galdor is an Old English word meaning to enchant with voice / song (Galdorcrft Is the art of doing so) Galdor can also be used in a variety of other ways, in meditation, pathworking, the naming of objects etc, and in stance work. The Witches Ladder

witches lader witches lader

The Witches’ Ladder (also known as rope and feathers, witches’ ladder, witches ladder, or witch ladder) uses basic knot magic with elemental correspondences to create a powerful talisman that you can hang in your home or wear for protection or give as a gift to your friends. The modern witch’s ladder is a string of 40 beads or a cord with 40 knots. Sometimes feathers, bones, and other trinkets are braided into the string as symbols for a desired spell effect. An earlier version of a witch’s ladder consisted of a rope or cord of three, nine, or thirteen knots. It was believed that witches of old cast a death spell over a person by tying the knots and then hiding the cord, and the only way to undo the spell was to find the secreted cord and untie each knot. Today, Wiccans and Neo Pagans use witch’s ladders primarily in healing, binding, and wish-granting rituals. They can also be used to “bind the thirteen moons of the year,” purportedly to allow the witch to better work weather and nature magic, and to open the doorway to the Faery realm.  Knot magick spells are numerous and aim to achieve many different outcomes. The current view held by many Wiccans is seen in this poem by Wiccan poet Enadus:  A knot is not a useless thing It keeps in place with rope and string Not all kept is hard or soft Knots can keep wishes, hope and thoughts Held by magick knots we make For life

A Random thought to a spell

Magicks cannot be taught as such! Magicks are not a subject! Or a specialty of any practice! It is a way of life, you live magick, and you breathe magick! You don’t need to call on magicks like you would call an old friend over at a party. But for those that know or feel that ritual is important, as this contains your use of it. As magicks uncontrolled can cause problems! An example of uncontrolled magicks is in the young a dream becomes a wish, a wish becomes a spell and results happen. For very young children their dreams are small normally very small, from I want food to can i have a Barbie, so have very limited negative results, but as they grow as we all do our dreams become filled with doubt reinforcing our expectations, so very few of their dreams become wishes, so less become spells. Some of our young are very talented in magicks and learn to use their skills, which again drop off when there are in their late teens early 20’s when life’s demands become a priority. Very few of these teens go straight to a magickal life unless they are exposed to magicks through the family or friends at a young age, they will often bounce around looking for answers to questions they do not know. But when magicks become a part of your daily life your limits are endless magicks can open you up to endless possibilities. For example when I thought about writing this (I

One of my favourite Chants is a chant that I heard off a film many years ago called the Charm of Making, now for whatever reason has remained part of my book of shadows as a chant to raise energies till this day. Part of the reason for the charm of making remains is because it feels authentic. The Charm of making appears in the film Excalibur and is composed in Old Irish by Michael Everson a linguist of high standing. Although the charm has been rumoured to be an ancient Celtic Charm, or Gaelic Charm or even an ancient Welsh Druid spell none of these rumours have any historical or academic evident that cant be disrepute with ease. If we just accept that The Charm of Making is a well crafted set of words written in Old Irish to portray magickal intent on screen does not remove the power that these words have:- The Words – The Charm of Making Old Irish Translation to English Anáil nathrach, orth bhais betha,do cheol déanta.Pronounced anal nathrak, uthvas bethud, do che-ol di-enve Serpent’s breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of makingMary Jones’s translates as Breath of the serpent, spell of life, the song for the maker.OrBreath of serpent, spell of death and life, your song of making. Totem Animals

Animal Totems Animal Totems

A totem is anything in nature we connect to for guidance and wisdom. We often connect to the fin, feather, and fur of our brother and sister creatures; but don’t forget the stones, insects, and plants beneath our feet. Each person has a unique connection to their totem and how they work together. Totems will reflect how they adapt in Nature, so watch, read, and learn everything you can about this teacher. The rowan tree or mountain ash has always been a popular tree for witches and druids and the Celts. Encoding Magicks and Ritual Tampering

Encoding Magicks and Ritual Tampering Encoding Magicks and Ritual Tampering

We all know that many magicians and sorcerers where know for leaving things out or making deliberate mistakes or change position it the elements (earth, air, fire and water). The most noted case of ritual tampering occurs in the Sun square of the planet square use in talisman making. It is also know or accepted that many published rituals where incomplete or had important aspects altered to insure that only the initiated could know the truth. But ritual  tampering goes much deeper that much of our history became mixed and hidden within Christianity. Our rituals like Yule (Christmas) Samhain (all hallow) Ostara (easter) etc where adopted by Christianity and blended to smooth the transition. Others we hid ourselves in the form of folk traditions and rhymes, which are still in use today although their true meanings may be lost. Rhymes where used to encode magickal information, spells and forms of divination and where passed on from mother to children and where used to program the information in a way which would be easy to retain and look harmless to the outside world. A few common rhymes, which are still used, for divination or to find the answer include- Taking a flower while pulling out petals a person would rhyme He / she loves me He / she loves me not one line for each petal alternating until you are left with one petal love or love not. There are variations on this He loves me, He don’t, He’ll have me, He won’t, He would if
