Death of a spirit guide

Wolf - creation, healing, purification Wolf - creation, healing, purification

When I first started in the craft I was gifted with two spirit guides, one of these guides was a wonderful wolf who for the purpose of this peace we will just call “wolf”. Now wolfs are very powerful totems they act as great teachers teaching much about magicks, and healing. The wolf also represents a journey in many paths. Now I would spend a lot of time with wolf I felt his presence in my daily life he would warn me of oncoming danger, taught me how to transform into a mouse so I could ride on is back so we could travel long distances at speed. He helped me find my true pagan path and eventually lead me to the goddess who had been calling me to her service for so many years. My relationship with wolf was one of mutual respect and I would show honour to wolf with pictures of wolfs on my clothes and on my walls almost everywhere I went I left a trail of wolf icons. Wolf came to me when I was just a child and stayed my friend, confident and my teacher for over 20 years. I would visit wolf in a sacred place marked with two trees most times wolf would be their at the gateway waiting for me other time he would be waiting in the grove, I learned that if he was in the grove he had left a lesson I was to learn along the path so I would have to seek

Basic Dragon Ritual

nightfire nightfire

This is the basis of all Dragon rituals in the practice of Dragon Magick. The practicing magician can insert his / her own music, dance, meditation, or personal rituals that they have written in appropriate places without disrupting the flow of energy. When you read through this ritual you will see that certain things are to be done at certain times other than that the Magician can do what feels right to her / him. It is important that you have all the appropriate tools and materials you will need before starting. Make any preparations so that nothing disturbs you. If you are practicing decreasing Magick it is important to remember that anywhere in the ritual that it says “circle clockwise”, you should circle counter clockwise. Another way of doing this is to cast a clockwise outer circle with a counter clockwise inner circle. Setting up Ritual : Begin the ritual by going to the East, with sword in power hand “draw” Magickal circle on floor around ritual area. This is done by pointing sword at the floor and seeing great flames shooting from it. Move clockwise around the circle with this flame ; end by overlapping it in the East. While drawing the circle, say: By Dragon Power, This Circle is Sealed. Return to the altar. Point the Sword at Dragon Pentacle and say: Dragons of Spirit, Highest of Dragons and Most Powerful, Bless This Altar With Your Fire. Let Us Be One In Magick, O Dragons Great and Wise. Set the Water Chalice

Angels Archangels and Cherubs

Metatron Metatron

The term “angel” is found in the bible and in the Qur’an and is used to identify a messenger of god but today it is regarded as a “spiritual beings” found in many other religious and traditions today as a guardian or protector. Predominantly associated with the One God of Christian, Hebrew and Islamic faiths angels fall in to one of two groups the “unfallen” angels and the fallen angels. The fallen angels lead by Satan often name Lucifer [1], the Latin name (literally “Light-Bearer” or “Light-Bringer”) for the morning star (the planet Venus in its morning appearances), in these stories in the war of heaven where a number of angels rebelled against “God” and where defeated and cast out of heaven. The Unfallen, where loyal and battled on the side of god. The unfallen angels are divided into 9 choirs of angels, which are called spheres. The 9 spheres are then broken in to 3 groups of 3. First Sphere (according to Old Testament sources) contains Seraphim Cherubim Thrones/Ophanim (Gr. thronoi) (also New Testament sources) Second Sphere (according to New Testament sources) contains Dominions Virtues Powers Third Sphere Principalities Archangels – Angels – The First sphere Angels are the guardians of gods thrown and contain the Seraphiel and Metatron, the Seraphiel is said to have the head of an eagle and omits such a bright light that no other angel can look upon him while as we all know that the Metatron played by Alan Rickman, in Dogma is the voice of god. The

Keeping Summoned Beings as Pets is a Bad Idea

pet pet

Over the years of scouring the Internet looking for information I would often come across something that would tickle me this is one such piece by Faerie K, which I found somewhere, can’t remember source about 10 years ago. It always reminds me that there is still so much silliness attached to being a pagan or a witch that we should not ignore it but find the fun in it… Hope you enjoy Keeping Summoned Beings as Pets is a Bad Idea… They may be cute and cuddly when they’re little, but they tend to grow. Fast. To something large. You can’t flush your overgrown summoned pet down the toilet and no pound will take one. (Trust me on this one. ) Unless you spay or neuter them, they will breed, quickly. Good luck trying to find a vet that will spay or neuter one… The feeding costs are astronomical. New Age shops are very expensive. Oh, sorry, I meant “astrological”. An exotic summoned pet is very difficult to feed. Museums start suspecting your interests in ancient cultures rather quickly. Getting them used to gourmet food is a bad idea: there aren’t that many virgins around, you see! Cats sitting on the chest of a sleeping child sucking their life-force out may be a myth. With summoned pets, it isn’t. No insurance will cover it if your summoned pet bites your guests. They may even eat your guests while you pop into the kitchen for tea. When they nibble your toes on Sunday morning, it

Mystical Dragons

Buy dragon inspired Jewellery Buy dragon inspired Jewellery

Dragons have always fascinated me, they appear in nearly every culture around the world. Dragons have inspired great stories and legends wonderful artworks and beautiful Jewellery. The English word “dragon” derives from Greek ?????? (drák?n), “dragon, serpent of huge size, water-snake”, which probably comes from the verb ??????? (drakeîn) “to see clearly”. Dragons are or often portrayed as large winged reptiles or serpents, in Europe dragons are normally depicted as large Lizards with bat wings while in Asia / China the dragon is depicted as large serpentine creatures with or without legs (number of legs can be 2, 4, 6 etc). There are different types of dragons:- Amphisbaena – Depicted as double-headed serpent-dragons with heads at each end of its body. Its name means ‘goes both ways’ in Greek as it could reportedly stick one head inside the mouth of the other, and roll to where it wanted to go. Amphiptere- (AKA Amphiptere, Amphithere, or Amphitere) is a term used to describe a type of legless winged serpent found in European heraldry and later in modern sci-fantaisy books. Hydra – is depicted as many-headed dragon who either have wings, or wingless. When one head is cut off, two more grow from the spurting blood. Drake-is depicted as a dragon with only legs and no wings Firedrake FireDrakes have the breath of flame, and are usually reddish in colour and are said to guard their caves which are filled with treasure, IceDrake  Icedrakes exhaled snow and hail and are usually white or light bluish in color

Lycanthropy-Among The Ancients

By Martin McKenna By Martin McKenna

Definition of Lycanthropy: MarcellusSidetes |Virgil Herodotus |Ovid |Pliny ||Agriopas Story from Petronius |Arcadian Legends|Explanation offered. WHAT is Lycanthropy? The change of manor woman into the form of a wolf, either through magical means, so as to enable him or her to gratify the taste for human flesh, or through judgment of the gods in punishment for some great offence. This is the popular definition. Truly it consists in a form of madness, such as may be found in most asylums. Among the ancients this kind of insanity went by the names of Lycanthropy, Kuanthropy, or Boanthropy, because those afflicted with it believed themselves to be turned into wolves, dogs, or cows. But in the North of Europe, as we shall see, the shape of a bear, and in Africa that of a hyæna, were often selected in preference. A mere matter of taste! According to Marcellus Sidetes, of whose poem a fragment exists, men are attacked with this madness chiefly in the beginning of the year, and become most furious in February; retiring for the night to lone cemeteries, and living precisely in the manner of dogs and wolves. Virgil writes in his eighth Eclogue; Has herbas, atque hæc Ponto mihi lecta venena Ipse dedit Moeris; nascuntur plurima Ponto. His ego sæpe lupum fieri et se conducere sylvis Moerim, sæpe animas imis excire sepulchris, Atque satas alio, vidi traducere messes. And Herodotus:”It seems that the Neuri are sorcerers, if one is to believe the Scythians and the Greeks established in Scythia; for each Neurian changes

Fairies and Fairyfoke

fairy fairy

Often seen as small winged creatures stylised in jewellery and in books but fairies are much more that stylised image. Fairies exist in nearly all of the world’s folklore and have many name and duties and not all are pleasant creatures. The majority of fairies are linked to nature and the elements and are closely associated with sylphs, and gnomes. The word fairy derives from Middle English faierie (also fayerye, feirie, fairie), a direct borrowing from Old French faerie (Modern French féerie) meaning the land, realm, or characteristic activity (i.e. enchantment) of the legendary people of folklore and romance called (in Old French) faie or fee (Modern French fée). This derived ultimately from Late Latin fata (one of the personified Fates, hence a guardian or tutelary spirit, hence a spirit in general); cf. Italian fata, Spanish hada of the same origin. Fairies often appear in human form with wings and magickal powers, but can also in angelic or demonic form or may even appear as creatures or other non-human forms. The is no defined behaviour pattern to fairies as each type can range from kind and caring, playful right through to completely malevolent. Fairies are known for their malevolent nature and have been associated with the stealing of babies and humans and replacing them with changelings. There is much folklore given to the protection against fairies including iron, which is said to be poisonous to fairies or the use of charms and plants including rowan, which are used to keep fairies away. During the Victorian

Lady Pixie Moondrips Guide to Craft Names

humor humor

In the Olde Days, when our pagan ancestors were going through the persecutions we now invoke to justify various kinds of current silliness, witches took craft names to conceal their identities and avoid those annoying visits by the Inquisition. In the course of years, it was noticed that these aliases could also be used as a foundation for building up a magical personality, carrying out various kinds of Tran-formative work on the self, and the like. It’s clear, though, that these were mere distractions from the real purpose lying hidden within the craft name tradition. It took contact with other sources of ancient, mystic lore – mostly the SCA, role-playing games, and assorted fantasy trilogies – to awaken the Craft to the innermost secret of craft names: they make really cool fashion statements. It’s in this spirit that Lady Pixie Moondrip offers the following guidelines to choosing your own craft name. Such a guide is long overdue; the point of fashion, after all, is that it allows you to express your own utterly unique individuality by doing exactly the same thing as everyone else. (Those who are particularly drawn to this element of the craft name tradition will find the Random Craft Name Generator near the end of this guide especially useful.) The approaches given here can be used separately, or combined in a single name to produce any number of interesting effects. Given enough cleverness (and lack of taste), the possibilities are endless! Starting Off Right Whatever else you do, you should certainly begin

The Moon pool

Moon Water Moon Water

It is a lazy, restful time here in the forest glade. The sun is departing, the stars arriving and the trees are a darkening jade. An air of buzzing, drowsing stillness invades the meadow, lends weight to my head as I settle down – bedroll, backpack and strains of music are seemingly played A deep, cool, dark pool is here, mirror clear, reflections of skies, as peace fills my mind, my soul and sleep gently touches my eyes. I know not whether I was awake, or in dream or how much time had passed, when I felt the magic of this place camped there, upon the grass. No sounds – no crickets? (The Music!) As the Moon awakens the pool, so bright. Why this anticipation, premonition, this magical feeling, this ghost haunted night? Then, a Siamese cat enters the meadow- silver grey, regal composure, flowing lines. And somehow I know – I see intelligence and wit, and power, as she looks into my eyes. How does she speak without speaking? But somehow, she communicates good will, and cheer. ‘Stay quiet, childe of man.’, she says. ‘Be still – you are but a guest here.’ Then a parade of feline musicians wandered in singing from the right. I shake my head *bedazzled*; Am I dreaming, or mad? Why me – here to witness this eldritch sight? A troupe of dancing, cavorting gnomes made their appearance upon a rocky stage. And following them: silver clad, haughty elves accompanied by a wizened old mage. Now, many strange but

Mazes and labyrinths

Mazes and labyrinths have always fascinated me ever since childhood. But what are mazes and labyrinths they are puzzles, which are solved by taking a journey. At the end of the journey through the labyrinth a reward is gained normally a symbolic freedom. The world Maze in colloquial English is generally synonymous with the word labyrinth. Although there are define differences a maze is complex many branching path with dead ends with one solution to solve the puzzle whilst a labyrinth is a single, non-branching path, which leads to the centre. Mazes and labyrinths can be constructed as lines marked in stone, brick, turf or paint / ink on the ground or can be constructed as walled pathways made from bricks, hedges corn or maize. I can remember my first time in a maze it was at the Leeds castle maze I can remember walking in all cocky thinking it would be easy to solve well I was 19 and their where moments where I did disperse that I would never get out. I will say that in the end I called out for help from one of the gardeners who kindly directed me to the centre. Now probably one of the reason that mazes and I share a connection, is this maze at Leeds castle the exit in the centre on the maze is a tunnel that takes you under the maze itself in to a grotto where I had one of my most important spiritual developments. The grotto design was in 1987 by
