Spells for beginnings

Bury Your Old Self Spell by Robert Place

If you are bothered by an aspect of your personality that you would like to let go of, then take a new potato and a knife (or your athame) and carve the potato into an image that represents the aspect to you. At midnight, take the carved potato into a field (or wherever you can find relatively undisturbed dirt) and bury it in the ground. As you do, repeat these words:

“With this image, I consign this aspect of myself to my mother the Earth.
As this image returns to the Earth this aspect of my personality dissolves into my psyche and is transformed into new capabilities”

You’re done. As the image under the earth dissolves, so will the quality you want to be rid of!

Rejuvenation spells

Health and Vitality Spell
Cut a circle from a white or yellow piece of paper. Write on the paper the words Health and Vitality. Add any specific health issues you wish to deal with, and in the centre of the paper place a bay leaf, a small amount of cinnamon, and three grains of rice. Fold the paper into a packet to hold the ingredients. Take the packet in hand for a moment and concentrate on your healing intentions, sending that energy into the package. Place the paper in a fireproof container and light it on fire. As it burns, say;

“Sacred fire,
I buying online drugs pray to thee,
Release all bonds
And set this free-
That health and vitality
might come to me.”

Purification spells

Purification Spell
If you wish to be free from a habit, thought, idea; if you wish to be rid of past associations, guilt or blockages; take the symbols of that problem – whatever they may be – & throw them onto a raging fire. The fire will consume the symbols & so shall it consume the power they had over you.
For the symbols think a moment – if you overeat, take a portion of your favorite food & throw it onto the fire. Smoking, drinking the same. For problems which utilize no concrete objects, draw a symbol or image & burn.

Spells for good luck for future endeavours

Prosperity and Luck Spell
Tools:
A Gold Candle
A piece of Jade (or other lucky stone)
Light the Gold Candle. Focus on the changes you would like to happen. Hold the stone in your hand and focus those changes “into” the stone. Visualize your energy combining with the stone and say these words:
“Changing energies, Universal luck, Weighted my way~ Fortunate door opening, Beginning this day.”
Visualize the release of energy to the universe. Extinguish the candle. Keep the stone with you as a reminder to be alert for new opportunity or as in the words of Lucille Ball:

“Luck? I don’t know anything about luck. I’ve never banked on it, and I’m afraid of people who do. Luck to me is something else: Hard work — and realizing what is opportunity and what isn’t.”

Carved Apple heads

shrunken heads 150x150 Carved Apple headsThese fun apple heads are great to make with children and make an interesting Samhain decoration and they are very simple to do.

This craft originated in the USA and has been used to make dolls for Halloween celebration. The fun thing about shrunken apple heads you never know how they will turn out until they are completely dry.

Items required-
Fresh apples (larger the better) from your own tree if possible

Vegetable Peeler /Knife and/or Pumpkin Carving Kit (for carving)

Lemon juice

Salt

Wire, sticks or string

Peppercorns, whole cloves, peas, beans or similar items for eyes

Rice, barley or other grains or seeds for teeth

Bowl

Instructions

Peel the apple and leave stalk and a small area of peel for a hat.

Carve a face in to one side of the apple (2 eyes a nose and a mouth at least), remembering to make the twice the size as the apple will shrink by half when dried.

Mix lemon juice with salt (1 cup of lemon 1tsp salt) in a bowl and soak the apple in the liquid for about 5 minutes insuring that the surface is completely covered as this will prevent rotting.

Pat the apple dry and decorate with Peppercorns, whole cloves, peas, beans for eyes and Rice, barley or other grains or seeds for teeth if you so choose.

There are a number of ways of drying the slow away is to leave in airing cupboard for 7 days but the process can be speed up by placing in oven (pre heat oven to 200 degrees gas mark 5 and then turn oven off) and leave for 24hr or use a food Dehydrator but my personal preference is to leave in airing cupboard.

Once completely dry you can add extra decorations such as wool for hair or doll dress or even a little paint to add fine details.

Either place on a stick or tie wire or string to stem for hanging

And that it a shrunken apple head

This yeast bread, incorporating a heavy mixture of two kinds of flour and peanut butter and topped with sesame seeds, is sure to be a great treat for early autumn.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add the peanut butter and the honey to the hot milk and stir to combine. Cool milk mix until it reaches 115ºF. Stir milk mix into flour mix. Knead for 15 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make a smooth, elastic dough. Oil the dough’s surface, then cover with plastic or a damp towel. Let it rise in a warm spot until double. Punch down, then shape into 2 rectangle loaves or one large wreath. Let rise again until doubled. Bake at 375ºF until golden; it should make a hollow sound when tapped.

The Biscuit Ritual

14112010555 150x150 The Biscuit RitualNow running a coven or being solitary there is some point in any ritual the eating of food takes place, for Wiccan’s it cake and Ale / wine for others it may be meat and mead.

No matter what the path, biscuits always work, now most of us live very busy lives and sometimes we do not have the time to bake so store bought biscuits or a packet mix will do.

But if you add a little ritual to things you can make things fun. Now living a pagan life no matter the path is about the divine and your connection to it, some role we assign to gods and some to goddess. And although men have great skill prescription drugs in the kitchen the kitchen is assigned to the woman and in turn the goddess and creativity.

The kitchen in my house is the heart of creativity and I love to cook. But the other night I got bored so looked in the cupboard to see what was their to be honest not much end of month syndrome so with basic ingredince so decided to make some cookies I had to make some adaptation to my basic biscuit receipt I created a big batch of cookie dough and split the mix and added drinking choc to one half. I made a batch of white cookies, choc biscuits and a version of black and white cookies.

I created a huge batch of cookie playing with what was in cupboard to some I added jam; some sprinkles and others sugar ground in pestle and mortar and drip one side of cookie in egg white then ground sugar.

There were so many biscuits I gave some to my best mate and her children who raved about them so I promised to make a batch, which they could freeze so yesterday pop off to supermarket and got the bits to make a batch and some other shopping and grabbed some drink and came home unpacked and cleared a space for Ingredients. What started out as a cookie making session started to become ritualised that state that when you doing something very normal starts to have other meanings and a ritual starts to form.

It becomes an important issue and you start taking notes. The moment I started to feel my action where becoming ritualised I ran back and forth to pc jotting notes which is now forming this article.

Now this is a very informal ritual and take about an hour and music is option, as I said these cookies could be frozen so you can use when you need

So here is the ritual of the cookie. This is a fun ritual and designed to bring into understanding nothing has to be hard to do and should not difficult to perform and above all be fun. And as reminder to all the goddess should never be confined to the kitchen she has other need too.

Tools
1 large mixing bowl (white and ceramic if poss.)
Bottle of favourite drink.
Plastic knife or spatula
Cling film

Ingredients
250g butter, softened
140g sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
250g plain flour
100g ground almonds

Optional
Extract / flavour to suit ritual or path
Coco powder
Chocolate
Toppings (up to you)

NB if you double the ingredients the only thing you will need to measure is sugar

Ritual

Look around the kitchen and gather ingredients invite the goddess to join you.(create your sacred space)

Pour yourself a drink and raise a glass goddess and say,

“a task that will end in fun will be created with joy and freedom”

Pour all ingredients in to bowl leaving out egg and extract.

Using you dominant hand mix ingredince as you sip your drink. You could meditate on the goddess as you pour energy in to the bowl.

Once all the ingredients have come together take the egg and think of it symbolisation and crack the egg into the bowl (and extract if using).

Again using you dominant hand, mix the egg (and extract if using) until it completely incorporated you can focus on joy and happiness pouring it into the mix.

Scrape excess mix off hand and leave to stand for about half hour. Pour your self another drink and go watch some TV or listen to music.

After about half hour return to bowl using the plastic knife cut sigils of peace and harmony into the mix. One you have carved your sigils and have obliterated them.

Take your cling film a lay a length on a flat surface (1 cm per cookie plus 4 inch each end).

Spoon out cookie dough to required length and size (diameter of raw cookie dough will double when cooked).

Wrap cling film to produce sausage shape once wrapped and desired width is reached twist excess cling film and tie to a knot do this both ends so the cookie dough is in a tight sausage shape.

Depending on size of mix and cookie size will relate to number of sausages you get.

Once bowl is empty end the ritual by saying.

“Now the mix is made the duty of the goddess is paid” smile and raise your glass what remains is a gift to the goddess and should be poured on the ground (outside).

The grounding for this ritual is the cleaning up.

Adaptations.

For black and white cookies.

Divide the mix in two to one half add coco powder choc chips and meditate on the balance (your own personal symbolisation can be used for this.) make a sausage of white mix and make a sausage of dark mix and place next to each other on cling film and wrap the same way to produce sausage..

Flavouring

For some rituals using appropriate flavours is appropriate just add extra flavours in the form of extract or topping.

Using cookies mix

If using fresh let chill for an hour. From frozen defrost completely and slice into 1cm discs remove cling film place in oven at 200 degrees for 15 mins give or take depending on size

Kitchen Witchery

Kitchen 150x150 Kitchen Witchery The kitchen is an important place for every witch it is the heart of every home. Not only that a good witch will often spend much of his or her free time experimenting with food and potions.

A witch’s kitchen will never make the cover of home and gardens but that being said a witch’s kitchen is a friendly space somewhere something is always going on. You will often find herbs hanging, home baked bread or biscuits and a kettle that is always on the boil.

But in this modern age with modern kitchens and fast-pasted life kitchen witchery is a dieing art to some extent. People don’t have the time to experiment most recipes come from books; most potions have been handed down. Now it not a bad idea to use other people recipes whether that is for a meal, potion, spells or medicine when you start out but if you rely on others information you’ll never gain any new knowledge.

The fun part about kitchen witchery is the experimentation “the science behind the witchcraft” why does this work this way and not that?

Throughout the history of man it is our experimentation that has cause us to develop and advance. As witches we are metaphysical scientists we work with elements and energies some of witch science can explain other it just learning about and some that science will never truly understand. If we want to advance in our magickal skills we must learn to experiment rather that repeat those experiments that have already proved to work.

Like scientist the kitchen witch will have some knowledge’s of their ingredince they know that if you X to Y the you get A as a witch you should look new ideas and develop your own.

A kitchen witch will take a basic recipe add a twist of this and a dash of that and create something new out of this experimentation something will develop for example a witch takes a basic biscuit mix and adds some extra fibre and fennel seeds and makes a nice biscuit and give some to a friend whose a little blotted and they work wonders and the friend ask for recipe a cure for friends blotted belly comes from adding that personal touch.

I know it a very basic example but kitchen witchery does not have to be complicated and it level of experimentation will depend on your confidence in trying new things. Of course a witch can get it wrong but you can learn just enough from getting it wrong.

For a witch the kitchen is not only a place when magick is preformed but also a meeting place for social chitchat a place for pets to sleep or eat a place filled with machinery and electromagnetic fields so where ideally magick should not be preformed. So why does or at least do you treat a kitchen as a magickal place? For myself I see the kitchen more as a temple a constant place of the gods. The kitchen and related area has so many gods and goddess you can dedicate your kitchen. Here is a list.

Goddesses Associated with Hearth and Home

  • Brighid (Celtic)
  • Chantico (Aztec)

Goddesses Associated with Kitchens, Cooking, Food & Domesticity

Other related Goddess

Kitchen Gods

  • Agni (hindu)
  • Bes (Egyptian god of household protection)
  • Hyang kehen (Indonesian god of hearth fire)
  • Oki-Tsu-Hiko-no-Kami (Japanese child of the Harvest God)
  • Oki-Tsi-Hime-no-Kami (Japanese child of the Harvest God)
  • Tsao Wang (Japanese god of hearth and kitchen)
  • Sanpo Kojin (Japanese god of hearth and kitchen)
  • Zao Jun (Chinese kitchen god)

To create your temple you need to show honour to the God(s) and or Goddess(s) unlike a circle you don’t call the deity in to being you create the space to honour them place offerings on a fixed altar pay respects to the goddess and or god for the chores you do, request their assistance in the chores. Every thing that you do to the home is done to clear the flow to the temple.

The kitchen will become the true heart of the home and the deities it will be come the fountain of inspiration and magicks. Things that you should have in your kitchen-

  • Small altar, a simple one, could just be a shelf.
  • Pictures and statues that invoke the image of you deity
  • Herbs and flowers sacred to the deity
  • Small offering bowl
  • Broom

Choose colours to honour the deity this can include plates walls etc.

Each time you enter the kitchen you should acknowledge the deity each time you work in the kitchen or clean the house invoke the deity and ask them for assistance and inspiration.

If you are new to kitchen witchery it make take some time for things to settle in to routine but once you do you will have a powerful magickal working area that will allow free flowing magick and inspiration as well as a healing area where you can replenish your energies in divine work.

A Few Cold And Flu Remedies Passed On To Me By A Wicca Witch

3worlshealin 150x150 A Few Cold And Flu Remedies Passed On To Me By A Wicca WitchIt is that time of year again colds and flu are just around the corner, of course according to me I never get a cold it is always flu.

These are just a few home made recipes passed on by my good ladies cousin, she is a Wicca witch, but do not worry these ladies are not the scary witches you see in the movies.

She does not live out in the country in a hovel, far from it she resides in a block of flats in my home city.

We never buy any of the cold and flu remedies from the chemist shop, instead we use natures pharmacy.

Obviously if your symptoms get no better after a few days it may be time to visit the doctor.

1. Onion and honey cough syrup.

This is not really a cough medicine as such because you could put it directly onto potatoes or your favourite vegetables. But personally I like to take it by the spoonful as many times as required.

Cooking this mixture up could not be easier, use a small saucepan chop a yellow skinned onion, add a cup of honey and a tablespoon of thyme, as much as you want if you can get it fresh, cook until the onion is soft, that is it job done.

Research has proven that onions and garlic irritate the lining of the stomach, this in turn forces the lungs to release a secretion that thins the thick mucus that makes you feel ill.

When peeling onions they make your eyes water this is the same action working, but it is getting rid of the sticky mucus in the lungs.

2. Thyme is an age old remedy, boil it up with some honey and drink as a tea, effective against laryngitis.

3. I remember an old remedy my dear old mother used on us as kids to relieve coughing.

Chop an onion place it in the oven to heat up then wrap it in a cloth, make sure it is not to hot and place directly on the chest, if you are using this on a child it may help to tape it on.

The fumes from the onion will stop any cough dead in it’s tracks, fair comment the bedroom and you will stink the next day, but hey you have had a good nights sleep.

4. Lemons and honey are another great remedy, squeeze a couple of lemons heat with a teaspoon of honey, and drink the mixture, this is an excellent way to help ease sore throats.

5. Another Wicca remedy I have tried and I would sooner have the flu, take some elder-flowers fresh or dried boil them up and make a tea, drink hot. Good luck with this one I have never tasted anything like it, totally disgusting.

This seems a bit strange it has nothing to do with Wicca, I do not know how it works but it did for me.

Although I think maybe you should get medical advise before trying this, as I am not responsible I am just passing on the information.

There has been research done, I believe many years ago, that says cold and flu bugs enter through the ears.

This is certainly not what we have been taught, do you remember all of the adverts and posters coughs and sneezes spread diseases, yes as far as we knew we inhaled these bugs.

Although I am convinced this remedy works I am not prepared to put my name to it, but the information is out there if you require it.

But the best remedy of all go to bed for a couple of days, get well wrapped up and have someone run around after you.

Convince them that alcohol is the perfect cure, and get them to make you a few hot toddies, read a good book and sleep a lot.

Bless or empower the water as you see fit… I just pray to the God and Goddess and ask them to aid me in my healing, then I send as much personal energy as I can into the water. See two streams of light begin to come from the sky, one stream into each bowl…feel the love of the God fill the bowl to your left, feel the love of the Goddess fill the bowl to the right.

Draw this love from the bows into your body through your hands. Collect the love energy from the bows and the energy from the earth into your heart, where your most personal energy is kept. Build all the energy here…until you can contain it no more.

When you can no longer contain the energy in your heart, release the energy to flood your entire body, and shout as loud as you can “HEAL ME!!!” at the same time as the release.

Continue to draw the energy for a while, letting it flow through your body, and spilling onto the ground…relax, and enjoy the peace that will settle over you.

After you have relaxed for a while, draw up your roots into your body, remove your hands from the water, and sit up. Take a sip from the bowl to your left, and thank the God for his love, then spill it at the base of a tree. In the future, care for this tree…it has been blessed by the love of the gods (the water) and it will aid you in your health.
