Death of a spirit guide

Wolf - creation, healing, purification Wolf - creation, healing, purification

When I first started in the craft I was gifted with two spirit guides, one of these guides was a wonderful wolf who for the purpose of this peace we will just call “wolf”. Now wolfs are very powerful totems they act as great teachers teaching much about magicks, and healing. The wolf also represents a journey in many paths. Now I would spend a lot of time with wolf I felt his presence in my daily life he would warn me of oncoming danger, taught me how to transform into a mouse so I could ride on is back so we could travel long distances at speed. He helped me find my true pagan path and eventually lead me to the goddess who had been calling me to her service for so many years. My relationship with wolf was one of mutual respect and I would show honour to wolf with pictures of wolfs on my clothes and on my walls almost everywhere I went I left a trail of wolf icons. Wolf came to me when I was just a child and stayed my friend, confident and my teacher for over 20 years. I would visit wolf in a sacred place marked with two trees most times wolf would be their at the gateway waiting for me other time he would be waiting in the grove, I learned that if he was in the grove he had left a lesson I was to learn along the path so I would have to seek

Basic Set of Tables of Correspondence

witch-spells witch-spells

When it comes to Magicks and Witch Craft a good set of Correspondences are important, but like all things in magick personal input will help you create a set of correspondence that are personal to you improving your magickal skills. Below is a set of basic correspondences the days of the week, the planets and astrological influences i have also included the planetary hours which can be a little confusing but the easiest way to understand it is the number in the hour column relates to the hour after sunrise in day planet hours and the hour after sunset in night planet hours. Her is an example if you want the hour of mars on a monday and sunrise is 6.45 you can see that mars is in the 4th hour so add 4 hours to sunrise time for the start of the hour of mars (the hour would start at 10.45am) you do the same with night hours using sunset as your starting time. I have also included a table for spell craft correspondences no the tables below are nowhere nearly close to the number of different tables of correspondences but they are a starting point Table of Planetary Powers Table of Planetary Attributes Table of Planetary Daylight Hours Table of Planetary Night Hours Table Of Correspondences for Spellwork   Table of Planetary Powers Sun Power, riches, glory, success, honour Moon Maternal love, nurturing, female mysteries, travel Mars Courage, war, fighting, power, beating of enemies, men’s mysteries Mercury Healing, intelligence, divination, business Jupiter Money,

Symbols, Symbols everywhere

Necronomicon_Symbols Necronomicon_Symbols

In paganism we have so many symbols that we use some are just for decoration or warn as symbols of or beliefs such as pentagrams right through to angel names in the form of sigils, which are used to invoke higher spiritual beings. Many of the pagan symbols have been adopted by many of the newer religions as symbols of the anti god or devil and in the past have been used to identify and persecute pagans mostly women. As a witch I have learned that symbols come in many forms and guises these symbols can be mundane in the sense that that could be a repeated theme that catches my eye when watching TV, or symbols in dreams / tarot cards etc these symbols can be visual or verbal and require meditation to uncover the meaning. These symbols can be very slight and can be ignored as coincidence or only get noticed in retrospect. Whilst other symbols are passed down through history or adapted by neo pagan paths as part of a reconstruction of a long forgotten history as symbols of their faith or belief.  The major problem with symbols is that they are personal and with that comes a unique meaning for pagans an Inverted pentagram will inspire images of the god of the woods, the earthly realm and masculine energy while a Christian will scream devil worship same goes for the Swastika Hindu’s and Buddhist’s see it as a religious symbol but the rest of the world identifies it with the Nazi

Finding Your Magickal Name

theban theban

Many Neo-Pagans and Wiccan adopt at least one new name as a sign of the new person that they have become and as a sign of their belief. A neo pagan and Wiccan will normally have at least 3 names their birth or legal name, the public pagan name that is a name used at public meetings and the final name is the private name a name only known to members of the coven or group that they belong to. The public working name is a name that a person chooses for himself or herself which can just be made up or contains the names of animals or crystals or magickal symbols or runes. The private name is normally given by the high priestess to a new member this name will contain information that that person must seek out, you are called that name for a reason sometimes to bring humility and understanding other times to inspire greatness. During the first few years a neo pagan may change the public name till they find a name that truly fits. I choose my public name “Draco of the Dragonstar” as I have a very close affinity to dragons and their magicks and I wanted to honour the great dragon who has been my guide for many decades now. Although I do shorten it to draco in letters and emails many people think that my name comes from Harry Potter. My Private name was given to me and I was a little disappointed that it was not something

The Pentagram

circle circle

The pentagram a simple symbol but one that has it roots in history and many religious paths. The pentagram has strong links to black magic, witchcraft and rock music,. The pentagram is a symbol of Unity, the goddess (the orbit of venus produces a five pointed star), the four elements and spirit, the five Chinese elements, the God, and the five wounds of Christ, many others. The pentagram has be linked to magicks since the mid 19th century but has historical information dating back 3000bc to Sumerian times where it was used as a pictogram for the word “UB” meaning “corner, angle, nook; a small room, cavity, hole; pitfall. You can logically see the reason why the pentagram is used in magicks the idea of creating “a small room” in which magicks where to be preformed by drawing a symbol is still used today in many neopagan and wiccan paths. The symbol of the pentagram has been adopted as a religious symbol by Wicca’s and some other pagan paths, in the same way Christians adopted the cross. Most wiccan’s and neo pagans will have pentagram rings, pentagram charms, pentagram pendants, pentagram earrings even pentagrams on the books of shadows and tarot boxes they will have them everywhere. I am not sure that this over exposure to the pentagram has lessened the power of the symbol but it no longer inspires the fear and aw it used to, in days past wearing a pentagram openly was a badge of honour a sense of pride in your

Blood in the Cauldron

Pagans have a long history of violence not only the fact that human and animal sacrifice where used but even today in the more enlightened times human sacrifice is heard of. The last being this year (2010) in April where a human Head and torso was found in A temple of Kali near Chotomakdampur village in the western district of Birbhuma in West Bengal India Although many Western pagans and neo pagan groups would not consider a human sacrifice as part of their rituals as they see it as being against the Goddess wishes some tribal polytheistic religions still use animal sacrifice as part of their practice. Now we all know that during our history (at least 50,000 years of history) across the world that human sacrifices where commonplace as way of appeasing the Gods. Even many of today’s rituals and festivals are link to sacrifices which would of in times past required animals to be slaughter as a minimal offering and this would escalate to humans if crops failed repeatedly or other hardships where faced. During this time in our history no one was excused from being sacrificed kings and leaders would be scarified to. Even Christianity has a dark past when it comes to blood scarifies the Old Testament is littered with account animal and human sacrifice. This link with human and animal sacrifice is often glossed over and is not spoke about much today and where possible is dismissed as history of primitive cultures and has no relevance today days pagan which

Wicca Symbols and What They Can Mean to You

Pagan degrees Pagan degrees

Wicca symbols have been with us for centuries but are still as relevant to modern day Pagans and Wiccans as they ever were. Although there is some variation in the symbols from group to group, they are more often consistent in the conditions that they represent than not. This is an article on some of the most popular and potent symbols, which I have chosen because to me, they most strongly embody Wicca and what it stands for. One of the most instantly recognisable of Wicca symbols is that of the pentacle – also known as the Witch’s Foot. It is a 5 point star in a circle and each point represents (going clockwise and starting at the top): The Spirit Earth Air Fire Water The circle around them unifies and binds them all. This Wicca symbol is extremely important and powerful as it represents you and your place within the world and its elements – you are the spirit. Each has equal placing, and to take out one element would be to change the very nature of the union. This is the symbol that Wiccans wear to identify themselves and others with, making it the most identifiable mark of the Wiccan religion. It is worn with pride, and to mark the wearer’s dedication to, and respect for nature. However, wearing this Wicca symbol is not without potential issues. There has long been a great misunderstanding that Wicca is somehow connected with dark forces, even Satanism. Fortunately, this could not be further from the truth.
