Death of a spirit guide

When I first started in the craft I was gifted with two spirit guides, one of these guides was a wonderful wolf who for the purpose of this peace we will just call “wolf”. Now wolfs are very powerful totems they act as great teachers teaching much about magicks, and healing. The wolf also represents a journey in many paths. Now I would spend a lot of time with wolf I felt his presence in my daily life he would warn me of oncoming danger, taught me how to transform into a mouse so I could ride on is back so we could travel long distances at speed. He helped me find my true pagan path and eventually lead me to the goddess who had been calling me to her service for so many years. My relationship with wolf was one of mutual respect and I would show honour to wolf with pictures of wolfs on my clothes and on my walls almost everywhere I went I left a trail of wolf icons. Wolf came to me when I was just a child and stayed my friend, confident and my teacher for over 20 years. I would visit wolf in a sacred place marked with two trees most times wolf would be their at the gateway waiting for me other time he would be waiting in the grove, I learned that if he was in the grove he had left a lesson I was to learn along the path so I would have to seek

Symbols, Symbols everywhere

In paganism we have so many symbols that we use some are just for decoration or warn as symbols of or beliefs such as pentagrams right through to angel names in the form of sigils, which are used to invoke higher spiritual beings. Many of the pagan symbols have been adopted by many of the newer religions as symbols of the anti god or devil and in the past have been used to identify and persecute pagans mostly women. As a witch I have learned that symbols come in many forms and guises these symbols can be mundane in the sense that that could be a repeated theme that catches my eye when watching TV, or symbols in dreams / tarot cards etc these symbols can be visual or verbal and require meditation to uncover the meaning. These symbols can be very slight and can be ignored as coincidence or only get noticed in retrospect. Whilst other symbols are passed down through history or adapted by neo pagan paths as part of a reconstruction of a long forgotten history as symbols of their faith or belief.  The major problem with symbols is that they are personal and with that comes a unique meaning for pagans an Inverted pentagram will inspire images of the god of the woods, the earthly realm and masculine energy while a Christian will scream devil worship same goes for the Swastika Hindu’s and Buddhist’s see it as a religious symbol but the rest of the world identifies it with the Nazi

Coloured Star Meditation

This is an adaptation of a meditation from Laurie Cabot originally called the pink star meditation, which was used to send self love energy towards a person for healing, self love Can be a very powerful thing to send to a person it can help transform them in to a better person. Original the meditation sent pink healing energy to a person but I have found that if you adjust the colour of the light you can send different energies, which help bring about change. As long as your motives are pure this spell / meditation can bring about some great transformation not just for the intended recipient but also for the person / group doing the meditation. This meditation can be done solitary or in a group as part of a path working / walking. Start by getting yourself comfortable and close your eyes and begin your breathing. Visualise a white light moving up your body starting at your toes and when it reaches your crown see it form in to a lotus flower. Once the lotus has formed watch it float from your crown to the floor. Once on the ground see the petals open slowly until the lotus is fully open. Once the lotus is fully open you will see in the centre outer space you step through the centre of the lotus and look around see the gateway behind you. Cyber Circle Causes Energy Vortex

Our homes are sacred spaces too, just as we use the guardians, watchtowers or elements to protect our circles many witches and pagans will use wards to protect their homes. These wards are used to protect from outside forces but the problem with this is that in this modern time of electronics and closer social connections and communication we end up inviting so much negativity into our homes and make it welcome negating any protection our wards could provide. As a witch I am very attuned to the energy of my home may be more so then some as I write from home spend nearly everyday of the week sitting at my desk or I move 3 feet and sit on the sofa my whole world is contained inside my home (BTW I do go out shopping or to eat or spend time with friends). I have always insured my home as a positive flow of energy not sure if it feng shui but I know what feels right and I have often had friends remark about how welcoming and relaxed my home is. Now I know that since I am very in tune with my environment my environment is also in tune with me so when I get hacked off or sad or ill or any negative emotions my home takes on that energy. Making it visual

“Creative visualization is the technique of using your imagination to create what you want in your life. In the past many of us have used our power of creative visualization in a relatively unconscious way. Because of our own deep-seated negative concepts about life, we have automatically and unconsciously expected and imagined lack, limitation, difficulties, and problems to be our lot in life” Ok it out their creative visualisation, a subject not very dear to my heart. Since my early days in the craft I have been taught that being able to visualise something is an important skill. I must of read every book on the subject of how to creatively visualise. I must have tried every technique out there but although I could imagine object with my eyes closed trying to do it with eyes open was another subject. I may manage to hold it in place for a micro second but then gone. I would say that this feeling of inadequacy of not being able to do this most basic of things (well that what the books kept telling me) to be honest I gave up on creative visualisation with my eyes open which is ok. So You Want to Start a Coven

Before you go a step further, take a good long look at your desires, motivation and skills. What role do you see yourself playing in this new group? “Ordinary” member? Democratic facilitator? High Priestess? And if the last — why do you want the job? The title of High Priestess and Priestess are seductive, conjuring up exotic images of yourself in embroidered robes, a silver crescent (or horned helm) on your brow, adoring celebrants hanging on every word which drops from your lips… Reality check. The robes will be stained with wine and candle wax soon enough, and not every word you speak is worth remembering. A coven leader’s job is mostly hard work between rituals and behind the scene. It is not always a good place to act out your fantasies, because the lives and well-being of others are involved, and what is flattering or enjoyable to you man not be in their best interest. So consider carefully. If your prime motive is establishing a coven is to gain status and ego gratification, other people will quickly sense that. Poppets

I have always loved poppets! I’m sure that my first experience of a poppet was from voodoo dolls! The idea of using an effigy for cursing or healing is using a form of sympathetic magick. Now I am sure that poppets feel out of favour due to the Voodoo doll but poppets have been around for centuries. The word poppet comes from the Middle English popet, meaning a small child or doll. A word still used today as a term of endearment. The poppet has many uses as they act as a physical representation of a absent person they become linked to the person by visualising and naming but the link can be made stronger by adding something from the person, hair (pubic, chest or armpit hair is better than head hair), nail clippings, fluids (tears, sweat, semen, urine, saliva or blood). Personal items from the subject should be given freely for good magicks or stolen for hexing and cursing. Since poppets are neutral tools they can be used for positives as well as negatives but remember the rule of three. Now poppets can be made from a number of substances carved root, grain or corn shafts, a fruit, paper, wax, a potato, clay, branches, or cloth stuffed with herbs although my favourite is cloth as they are easy to make and the amount of effort in creating them seem to be about just right for most spells. A Random thought to a spell

Magicks cannot be taught as such! Magicks are not a subject! Or a specialty of any practice! It is a way of life, you live magick, and you breathe magick! You don’t need to call on magicks like you would call an old friend over at a party. But for those that know or feel that ritual is important, as this contains your use of it. As magicks uncontrolled can cause problems! An example of uncontrolled magicks is in the young a dream becomes a wish, a wish becomes a spell and results happen. For very young children their dreams are small normally very small, from I want food to can i have a Barbie, so have very limited negative results, but as they grow as we all do our dreams become filled with doubt reinforcing our expectations, so very few of their dreams become wishes, so less become spells. Some of our young are very talented in magicks and learn to use their skills, which again drop off when there are in their late teens early 20’s when life’s demands become a priority. Very few of these teens go straight to a magickal life unless they are exposed to magicks through the family or friends at a young age, they will often bounce around looking for answers to questions they do not know. Changing the way we think Our thoughts travel beyond the limitations of time and space. We can “pick up” other peoples thoughts, and by the same token they can “receive” ours. Telepathy is an extension of this inherent ability we have. Out thoughts can create harmony, life our spirits and strengthen our life force. They may also be stuck in destructive patterns that create illness and sap our energy. The thoughts we have and the words we say reflect our inner feelings, the way perceive life our basic beliefs. Mazes and labyrinths have always fascinated me ever since childhood. But what are mazes and labyrinths they are puzzles, which are solved by taking a journey. At the end of the journey through the labyrinth a reward is gained normally a symbolic freedom. The world Maze in colloquial English is generally synonymous with the word labyrinth. Although there are define differences a maze is complex many branching path with dead ends with one solution to solve the puzzle whilst a labyrinth is a single, non-branching path, which leads to the centre. Mazes and labyrinths can be constructed as lines marked in stone, brick, turf or paint / ink on the ground or can be constructed as walled pathways made from bricks, hedges corn or maize. I can remember my first time in a maze it was at the Leeds castle maze I can remember walking in all cocky thinking it would be easy to solve well I was 19 and their where moments where I did disperse that I would never get out. I will say that in the end I called out for help from one of the gardeners who kindly directed me to the centre. Now probably one of the reason that mazes and I share a connection, is this maze at Leeds castle the exit in the centre on the maze is a tunnel that takes you under the maze itself in to a grotto where I had one of my most important spiritual developments.
