Where Magick come to life

Do Pagans pray

binding love spell 150x150 Do Pagans prayPagans do pray but not in the Christian way with palms pressed on bended knee. For many neo pagans the Christian way is considered pleading rather then praying. For a pagan a pray is a direct correspondence with a deity /spirit / or divine and are used mostly for gaining wisdom, and that being said many pagans will prepare to pray.

Preparation will include ritual cleansing or bath or shower, preparing sacred space have the appropriate offerings for the deity / spirit.

A circle or sacred space is created and then the deity is called to attend offering are offer to encourage the presence of the deity / spirit.

The person once they have felt the presence of the deity / spirit the person would state who they are and by what right they have to call the deity / spirit in question. This can often be a long process of speaking your history, training and anything that the person thinks the deity would like to know.

If the deity / spirit sees the person as worthy they will stay the person would the petition the deity / spirit for what they require listing the reason why they need or want and how it will be used. Only the very foolish will try to strike a bargain offering personal favours in return for what they require.

If the deity / spirit has been duly impressed by your petition the answers will come to you it almost like speaking with the words of the spirit or deity you will know whether your going to get what you need or not if you are going to get the you will be told what you need to change to create the successful or the reasons why your not going to receive what you what.

Prays can be combined with creative visualisations which are used to increase the experience and spiritual connections to the deity /spirit. Prays to the element are often used to allow a new student of the art to connect with the elemental forces,

Here is an example of a pray please feel free to adapt any way you wish

Pray to air

I <insert name> stand here before you almighty element of air, I am a child of air with out you I cease to exists, and I call you as your child you touch me inside and out you who are my life’s breath the gentle breeze on my skin, my wild natures are your wild winds, my thought are your words and wisdoms.

I inhale you and you fill me you touch each and every cell in me we are one connected I carry you in me.

Air I honour you Air am I worthy….

… I <insert name> who seen as worthy, petition that you almighty air to share your understanding How do I <insert name> become more at one with the elemental for of air what do I not see what do I not know where do I need to go to connect with you. I ask this of you as I need to have greater understand of you air so I may grow as a person both in my daily life and my spiritual path.

(Silent meditation comes now as you share the connections when ready to continue and you will no what and when to say what you answer will be you would normal assume the element of air similar to drawing down the moon)

I am Air the breath of life the gentle winds the soft breeze the wild gales and hurricanes…. (just say what feels right )

Always end prays by thanking the spirit /deity releasing sacred space in your normal way.

I have not come across any other formal for pagan prays although their must be a few prays are also associated with spells and ritual work as a whole each of them are a pray but are seen as performing magicks rather than pray work.

Chanting is also another form of pray but is referred to as energy rising and as I sit here and think very few pagan books mention pray and if they do they are very under played although their are books on pagan pray. I not sure if its more to do with the neo pagan paths that remove Christian terms from the text that pray seems to be a little under rated. But whether we pray or do ritual we must remember that we are communicating with spiritual beings and we should show them honour in our words and our deeds.

So mote it is one of the common ways of ending communications with spiritual beings in ritual which means the same thing as amen “so it be” so we it truth much of what pagans do is pray it just that we call it by a different name.

Sympathetic magick

voodoodoll 2 Sympathetic magickSympathetic magic is one of the oldest forms of magick, and has been linked to Cave paintings and to the Palaeolithic era.

The Principle of Sympathetic magick is that what is created, imagined or acted out come to reality. It is widely viewed that Cave paintings are a form of Sympatric magick where the Cro-Magnon shamans, would retreat in to a cave, go into trance buy prescription drugs without prescription and paint the success of the hunt, in hunter societies they would also use dance to act out the Hunt with tribal members wearing animal skins being chased down by hunters who would then slay the beast showing the success of the coming hunt. These practices are still found in indigenous tribal cultures today.

The rain dance in Native American culture is a great example of sympatric magicks the shaman will dance rising power until till the end where water is thrown into the sky the falling water is a symbol of rain the desire outcome from the dance.

The principle being like for like sympatric magick is also a part of healing with the use of herbs and poppets. Healing herbs where colleted not based on any knowledge of chemical properties but on the likeness of the plant to the illness if you had red spots a shaman would use a plant with red spots if you had a brain fever a walnut be used due to it looking similar to the human brain. The idea being that if things look alike, act alike these things must be connected.

This being the fact with Poppets, Moppets, Effigies and Voodoo dolls the idea with these items an image of a person is created in wax, fabric, straw or grass this image does not have to look perfect like the person who the poppet is going to be used on but a connection must be made either by visualisation and naming it, or physical by using something personal that is related person a scrap of their clothing, hair, nails, their bodily fluids.

Poppets Moppets Effigies and Voodoo dolls are used to heal and harm everyone has seen the TV version of a Voodoo Priest sticking pins into a wax to cause harm but the real idea is that a Voodoo priest or any one that uses effigies would place pins at the site on the doll where the pain is and the visual image of the pins in the doll act as the connection to the pain and the removal of the pins would act as a visual connection of the pain being removed.

One of my favourite sympatric magick rituals is one I use regularly and happy to say it,s still working and it a money spell based on the rain dance.

On the new moon collect all of your small coins your need a good handful, fill your pockets with the change. Mentally think as you shake the coins that your activating coins and positively charging them like little magnets. The stand out side your front door and throw the coins into the house (making sure that any thing that could get smashed is cleared out the way) you will need to throw quite hard so the coins go everywhere and leave where they are leave the house the following day as usual and as you come in pick up the coins you can see (don’t go looking for the coins) and put them in your purse wallet or money box it does not matter if you leave the odd coin lying on the floor.

The like for like imagery of this sympatric magick is the money will keep coming into the house and that you can keep you wallet purse full also one of the nice extras to this spell is that people will walk in to your home see a coin and give it to you this give that extra dimension that money can come from other source apart from the usual.

This spell contains the 2 branches of sympatric magick Law of Similarity and the Law of Contact or Contagion as Sir James George Frazer (1854-1941) wrote in the book The Golden Bough.

The Law of Similarity states if two things are alike then you can produce an effect on one by imitating it on the other.

While the Law of Contact or Contagion states two objects once in contact will in some manner retain a link even after they have been separated.

In the last 20 to 30 years scientists have discovered that the universal laws of physics at a quantum level do follow the laws that Sir James George Frazer wrote about are actually laws that at a very fundamental level are the laws that govern the universe!

The Dark Moon and Dark Magicks

darkmoon 150x150 The Dark Moon and Dark MagicksThe dark moon is the 3-day period just before the new. This is when there is no visual representation on of the moon. During the dark moon many neo pagans will honour a dark moon goddess – Hecate, Kali, Lilith etc.

In neo pagan society the dark moon and the goddess that rule this period are in my mind softened to a major extent making them goddess of birth and death and the underworld often ignoring their darker deeds. May be it because many of the founders of the neo pagan paths wanted to disassociate themselves from the idea that witchcraft could be bad or wicked which ignores a major part of the deities and us. This in my mind dishonours not only the goddess but also us. We all have a dark side ranging from naughty to dam right evil.

The dark moon allows us to explore our darker sides, what are we truly capable of! Not all pagan paths would see this as the right thing, but they all have to accept that darkness is part of our life – we all go through dark times (some in which we get lost in). I was taught that the goddess would as easily embrace her children, as she would devour them.

The idea of devouring a child sound sick and something a goddess would never do but you just need to look at nature to see the answer and before you go its the male of the species we are not looking at territory we are looking that when a female animal gives birth to a sick or deformed animal, it not done to hurt it done to stop pain. As humans we devour our children by over or under protecting them and probably many other ways I am not a parent so can’t embellish.

The darkness that is or visits our life has its ebbs and flows like all things and in many cases you feel alone isolated with no one to turn to. In reality there is support and a way out but you just can’t find it. This is the dark moon you know its their somewhere but it gone your alone the mother moon is no longer smiling on you.

The dark moon should be seen as a time to explore your darkest sides the things you fear the most the dark moon is not a time for doing as you want with out paying restoration dark magicks are painful.

For me dark magicks Buy Xenical Online do include cursing and hexing but they are only if ever used when totally required and with much forethought. The dark magick of which I speak are the inner pains we feel the betrayals the hurts and loses, at the time we feel them we can not understand them so by revisiting them and experiencing them once more! We gain a better understanding of our nature. And only by descending into darkness and chaos can we truly understand it.

The Words mean more

Pentagram of Solomon 150x150 The Words mean moreOne of my favourite Chants is a chant that I heard off a film many years ago called the Charm of Making, now for whatever reason has remained part of my book of shadows as a chant to raise energies till this day.

Part of the reason for the charm of making remains is because it feels authentic. The Charm of making appears in the film Excalibur and is composed in Old Irish by Michael Everson a linguist of high standing.

Although the charm has been rumoured to be an ancient Celtic Charm, or Gaelic Charm or even an ancient Welsh Druid spell none of these rumours have any historical or academic evident that cant be disrepute with ease.

If we just accept that The Charm of Making is a well crafted set of words written in Old Irish to portray magickal intent on screen does not remove the power that these words have:-

The Words – The Charm of Making

Old Irish Translation to English
Anáil nathrach, orth bhais betha,do cheol déanta.Pronounced anal nathrak, uthvas bethud, do che-ol di-enve Serpent’s breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of makingMary Jones’s translates as
Breath of the serpent, spell of life, the song for the maker.OrBreath of serpent, spell of death and life, your song of making.
To here Charm of making as spoken in film see video above

Just by saying the words a few times over you can already feel the energies build (or well at least I can) as you do with any chant or Charm.

Their many be many Neo pagans who might fill that grabbing a few words off of a movie and putting in a book of shadows and using them in ritual would be wrong as they have no place being their as the made up and rubbish. But many more agree with me words only have power as long as you give them power and the more power you give them the stronger they get.

Taking words from a film script or play scripts are nothing new, Eko! Eko! Azarak! Eko! Eko! Zomelak! Come from the text from the play Le Miracle de Théophile according to Pennethorne Hughes who is a professional historian and student of witchcraft. But it does seem that we are much happier to copy spells, charms and chants down from written source the older and dustier the better than to dictate something from a visual media such as a play or film. Probably because when you watch a film you never seem to have a pen handy.

I do personally feel that not all films spells and chants can be used effectively “ you could never find a use for “Salicadoola, Menchicaboola, Bippity Boppity Boo!”” but film spells Mystical charms and chants they can be a good source of inspiration to help you develop your own spell incantations and charms and chants. They can help with timing and with just a few changes to the original text you can have a truly unique spell or chant, which is personal and has a very familiar feel and should be very effective.

Remember in life and not just in magicks “It’s not what you say! That counts; it’s how you say it! That matters!”

Heretic heart

Heartagram 150x150 Heretic heartI am a bold and pagan soul travelling through this land,

I judged the world by my own light and I come by my and hand,

and in wish you would ask me where I have learned to live so recklessly,

my skin, bone, my heretic heart are my authority.

My mother was a spin-off of tails,

my father a dreaming man,

and I have swung on the Dragon’s tongue and danced on holy land,

I have sown the seeds about the ground and sung the birds down from the trees,

my skin my bone in my heretic hearts are my authority.

Once I was found but now I’m gone away from the faithful fold,

the ones who preach that holiness is to do as you are told,

through law and scripture, priest and prayer have all instructed me,

my skill in my burn my heretic heart are my authority.

Now they tell me Jesus loves me,

I think he loves in vain,

he must go unrequited on me he has no claim,

for the man who would command me must wear the horn and let me be,

my skin that my burn my heretic heart are my authority.

And while I breath this glorious air and outlaw I’ll remain,

my body will not be subdued and I will not be saved,

and if I cannot shouted loud I will sing it secretly,

my skin my bone my heretic heart are my authority.

Catherine Madsen wrote and it’s one of my favourite poems.

Astral projection

astralprojection 150x150 Astral projectionAstral projection BE (outer body experience) is often feared basically due to a lack of trust in one own ability or the fear that one will not be able to return to ones own body and die or worse their body may be invaded making it impossible to return.

Although many studies have been done on astral projection proving it to be safe many still have a great fear over attempting the technique.

For those that do attempt astral project find not only the benefit of a extremely valuable skill but also gain much knowledge of themselves and of magick.

Although there are many techniques for astral project the Monroe technique is probably one of the easiest to follow and gain great results from.

The basic principle needed is an understanding that no harm can befall you. So before moving on to the technique its self we will look at astral projection and the facts rather than silly superstitions.

One of the largest studies relating to astral project was done by “The Canterbury Institute UK” which involved over two thousand subject none of whom showed any harm physically or mentally from the experience. The Canterbury institute is renowned for its studies into the Occult can to the conclusion that it was a person’s fear that prevented them from attempting or succeeding astral protection.

The fact is that many of us have had OBE’s in one form or for those that have used lucid dreaming the techniques are very closely linked to astral projection. so before starting astral project you must be completely aware that you will not come to any harm of any kind you will not die or have your body possessed by demons or entities. It is these fears that will prevent you from succeeding.

The Monroe Technique is a widely regarded technique for astral project and is available widely across the web and in literature. The Monroe Technique take approximately a week to complete although if you dedicate yourself you can be pick the technique with hard work in about a day. Although I would recommend you take things slowly and build things up taking and practicing each step before moving to the next.

Remember that you will only succeed if you believe you will and that you have no fears regarding being harmed if needs be do some research and find the fact out for yourself it may help put your mind rest

Monroe’s techniques, step by step.

Step one: Relax the body.

“the ability to relax is the first prerequisite, perhaps even the first step itself” to having an OBE. (out of body experience) According to Monroe, This includes both physical and mental relaxation. Monroe does not suggest a method of attaining this relaxation, although Progressive Muscle relaxation, coupled with deep breathing exercises (inhale 1, exhale 2, inhale 3…. until 50 or 100) are known to work well.

Step two: Enter the state bordering sleep.

This is known as the hypnagogic state (2.designating or of the state intermediate between wakefulness and sleep). Once again, Monroe doesn’t recommend any method of doing this. One way is to hold your forearm up, while keeping your upper arm on the bed, or ground. As you start to fall asleep, your arm will fall, and you will awaken again. With practice, you can learn to control the Hypnagogic state without using your arm. Another method is to concentrate on an object. When other images start to enter your thoughts, you have entered the Hypnagogic state. Passively watch these images. This will also help you maintain this state of near-sleep. Monroe calls this Condition A.

Step three: Deepen this state.

Begin to clear your mind. Observe your field of vision through your closed eyes. Do nothing more for a while. Simply look through your closed eyelids at the blackness in front of you. After a while, you may notice light patterns. These are simply neural discharges. They have no specific effect. Ignore them. When they cease, one has entered what Monroe calls Condition B. From here, one must enter an even deeper state of relaxation, which Monroe calls Condition C– a state of such relaxation that you lose all awareness of the body and sensory stimulation. You are almost in a void in which your only source of stimulation will be your own thoughts.

The ideal state for leaving your body is Condition D. This is Condition C when it is voluntarily induced from a rested and refreshed condition and is not the effect of normal fatigue. To achieve Condition D, Monroe suggests that you practice entering it in the morning or after a short nap.

Step Four: Enter a state of Vibration.

This is the most important part of the technique, and also the most vague. Many projectors have noted these vibrations at the onset of projection. They can be experienced as a mild tingling, or as is electricity is being shot through the body. /their cause is a mystery. It may actually be the astral body trying to leave the physical one.

For entering into the vibrational state, he offers the following directions:

1. Remove all jewellery or other items that might be touching your skin.

2. Darken the room so that no light can be seen through your eyelids, but do not shut out all light.

3. Lie down with your body along a north-south axis, with your head pointed toward magnetic north.

4. Loosen all clothing, but keep covered so that you are slightly warmer than might normally be comfortable.

5. Be sure you are in a location where, and at a time when, there will be absolutely no noise to disturb you.

6. Enter a state of relaxation

7. Give yourself the mental suggestion that you will remember all that occurs during the upcoming session that will be beneficial to your well being. Repeat this five times.

8. Proceed to breath through your half-open mouth.

9. As you breath, concentrate on the void in front of you.

10. Select a point a foot away from your forehead, then change your point of mental reference to six feet.

11. Turn the point 90 degrees upward by drawing an imaginary line parallel to your body axis up and above your head. Focus there and reach out for the vibrations at that point and bring them back into your body.

Even if you don’t know what these vibrations are, you will know when you have achieved contact with them.

Step five: Learn to control the vibrational state.

Practice controlling them by mentally pushing them into your head, down to your toes, making them surge throughout your entire body, and producing vibrational waves from head to foot. To produce this wave effect, concentrate of the vibrations and mentally push a wave out of your head and guide it down your body. Practice this until you can induce these waves on command.

Once you have control of the vibrational state, you are ready to leave the body.

Step six: Begin with a partial separation.

The key here is thought control. Keep your mind firmly focused on the idea of leaving the body. Do not let it wander. Stray thought might cause you to lose control of the state.

Now, having entered the vibrational state, begin exploring the OBE by releasing a hand or a foot of the “second body”. Monroe suggests that you extend a limb until it comes in contact with a familiar object, such as a wall near your bed. Then push it through the object. Return the limb by placing it back into coincidence with the physical one, decrease the vibrational rate, and then terminate the experiment. Lie quietly until you have fully returned to normal. This exercise will prepare you for full separation.

Step seven: Dissociate yourself from the body.

Monroe suggests two methods for this:

One method is to lift out of the body. To do this, think about getting lighter and lighter after entering this vibrational state. Think about how nice it would be to float upward. Keep this thought in mind at all costs and let no extraneous thoughts interrupt it. An OBE will occur naturally at this point.

Another method is the “Rotation method” or “roll-out” technique. When you have achieved the vibrational state, try to roll over as if you were turning over in bed. Do not attempt to roll over physically. Try to twist your body from the top and virtually roll over into your second body right out of your physical self. At this point, you will be out of the body but next to it. Think of floating upward, and you should find yourself floating above the body. Monroe suggests you begin with the lift-out method, but argues that both are equally efficacious.

The Three worlds Of Healing

thor The Three worlds Of Healing This is not a copy or correlation of the Asian Chakra system, but a Northern European tradition of its own. In Oslac it’s called the 3 worlds based on the world tree Yggdrasil, the ancient Celts also had a version, which was called the three cauldrons.

3worlshealin The Three worlds Of Healing Asgarđ

Complex world. At birth our Knowledge is slight, we need to re-learn the world all over again. Yet here is where we find the home of the spirit, of Higher Self, and the place where Feorh (Life Force) is generated. It moves down the spine and permeates our whole body. As we gain in Knowledge we need to remember our spirit and not allow it to wilt beneath learning. Here in Asgarđ we learn to reach our higher self and the gods.

Midgarđ

The world of life and emotion. Isolation and emotional introversion are the enemies of this world. For those who are aware of all the life that surrounds them, this world has a rich feel, a feel of spring and summer, of the golden autumn and restful winter. In Midgarđ we learn to live in the moment ~ the satisfying completeness of the full awareness in the here and now.

Niflheim

This world is fully active in us even before are born! Here are our instincts, our wild, untamed reactions. The problem comes when modern life rationalizes these things until they are smothered. This process is often started by parents and teachers, (grow up, act your age! There is no such thing as magick! Etc). Niflheim is the under belly of the beast. Hie dygel lond (the hidden lands), our own intuition and instincts. Here too are where our reserves of Feorh are stored until needed. Here is the sometimes Dark Knowledge, of earth awareness, here is the shadow self for those who dare to explore and make peace with it, greater knowledge and peace can be found. Accepting our darker self is the first step to changing it.

We live in strange times. Many people live with a toehold in the world of Asgarđ, but only equate knowledge with only what they are taught and not with what they feel. The spirit, the higher self, and the divine remain unexplored. These people live in Midgarđ in a stunted way; overly conscious of a body they are brainwashed into hating by the media, and having an incomplete emotional life. They are taught to deny Niflheim even to fear it, and yet true completeness can only come from genuine integration of all three worlds.

One method of learning to explore the three worlds of which there are actually nine: Asgarđ = Æsir, Vanir, Alfheim Midgarđ = Humankind, Jotenhim, Nidavellir, Svartalheim Niflheim = Helheim and Hel, is to think upon the Yggdrasil (the world tree) (representing the human spin). By using what is now known as the Runic Internal Energy System you can learn to move up and down the levels of consciousness. Balance is the key to harmony, and harmony is the door to the gods.

Five common ways of raising Power

binding love spell 150x150 Five common ways of raising PowerMany rituals call for power to be raised without saying how. This isn’t a failure to notice on anyone’s part. Raising power is so personal that the idea of “telling” a person or a group of people how to do it seems ridiculous. Their seems to be 5 basic ways to raise energy / power these are by no means the only or the “right” ways to raise power. The Five are flexible, and can be used together in any number of combinations.!

1: Drumming: Drumming is fairly easy to understand. Most people use a “heart” beat, which they increase in speed and complexity as they raise the power. Your own heart rate can increase with the drum, it can be very powerful.

It takes training for many of us to become that rhythmic, and the idea that EVERYONE needs to be banging on something for drumming to work is insane. I’ve seen many circles use only one drummer to raise power. Increasing speed and complexity are a common part of power raising, as more power is raised, and the air begins to tingle with expectation, one would have to work harder to not speed up, and they’d diminish their usefulness, so relax and let it go. When the power has reached it peak, the drummers stop, often voicing a monosyllable which pushes the power. “Ra, Ma, Ha, Ho, and Ay” all have special meanings in different Traditions, but research or spontaneity are equally as acceptable.

2: Dancing similar to drumming, dancing is something not everyone can do. Power raising dances; however, tend to be very unsophisticated, like holding hands and twirling around the circle. It’s easy to raise power this way, if occasionally dizzying. Combined with drumming or chanting, dancing can be a simple way to get everyone involved and is a fairly quick method of power rising. As with drumming, the best way to let the power out that you raise from dancing is to stop suddenly, often by ending an accompanying beat, and shouting out a monosyllable, preferably while dropping to the floor.

3:Chanting there are Buy Viagra Online three schools of chanting in Wicca, one says that chants must be ancient words and phrases, almost inevitably in another language. These are often hard to say and even harder to remember. The second school allows translated chants, but they usually are overly complex small prayers, which are often hard to memorize. The final school, the method of chanting that I have found most powerful, is the simplest. You may’ve noticed I prefer the simplest, and before I describe fully this school of chanting, I’d like to explain why, in Ritual, I follow the Rule of KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid.)

Religion must always be a matter of intense Self. No one has the right to enforce or inflict his or her religion upon someone. In a group setting, complexity easily causes a rift to develop between people. By using things that only a few people can do, you limit the group to those who participate, and those who can’t. In every group I’ve been in there is at least one person whose abilities aren’t even close to everyone else’s. Wicca needs to avoid becoming elitist, and many covens already seem to have an idea of what members SHOULD be like. By keeping the recipe for ritual simple, any group may form a firm basis in practice before attempting more difficult manoeuvres. Keep it simple, stupid!

The preferred method of chanting is personal chanting, in which everyone in a group chants what is on their mind, The amount of power felt with this method is astounding. The increase in power at the end is done by increasing volume, with everyone ending with the same word or phrase, often the

“So” of “That it be so,” an easier to end variation on “So mote it Be.”

4:Music Weaving This is difficult method. Often, this accompanies drumming, and is prevalent in groups with many musicians and singers. A simple melody is played or sung, a second instrument comes in after the first, with a similar melody played above in counterpoint, a third in a lower harmony to the first, a fourth in harmony with the second, and so forth. The power raised and spells worked this way are intense, but require practice and a good many skills.

5:Tone Raising While not as complex as music weaving, tone rising is best done with at least one person with perfect pitch and a strong voice Similar to Galdor . Beginning usually at A or C, the group uses a single syllable to match the leaders tone or harmonize. The leader raises the tone or chord and allows the group to increase in pitch and volume, with those incapable of higher notes dropping down an octave (singing the same note lower) when the volume is maximized, everyone shouts out the syllable and “lets” the power go.
