I believe everyone is born Magickal and filled with the total knowledge of the universe but from the moment we are born we lose that information rapidly and it is replaced with Earthly knowledge.

When it comes to spirituality this is filled by the people around you, you become conditioned into a belief system and many people accept what they are taught and surrender their spiritual path.

But Pagans and Wiccan seem to desire a closer personal relationship with the divine rather than a defined religious group, sect, cult, denomination or organization. This does not mean that pagans have the correct spiritual path it mean that they have the correct path for themselves.

For most pagans they will say they have always known that they are pagans but not sure what themselves. It is normally by chance a pagan will come to their path, via a book or meeting a Wiccan or witch. Not every pagan is a Wiccan or a witch; Paganism is umbrella term, which covers many views paths and traditions such as Wicca, Druidry, Asatru, Shamanism.

Not every pagan feel comfortable working with a group and may seek all of their knowledge from books and personal experimentation becoming what I would term the natural witch. The natural witch may mix conflicting paths and tradition and since books Wicca and witchcraft are in huge availability their path will at the very least contain a small part of Wiccan practice.

Then you have the hereditary witch these a people that claim to have a long heritage which in most case can be proved just one word of warning regarding these people most are fakes if they require payment for joining or teaching your above and beyond reasonable expenses use your common since. But there are some hereditary witches not many of them go back more than 3 – 4 generations even thou a few may go back longer their spiritual heritage may not be provable.

I have a basic set of rule that I would recommend to anyone wishing to learn the path: -

1. Read, Read and read.

2. Seek out your god or goddess
The gods and goddess are archetypal form which one do you most relate to? As you grow and develop this archetypal form will change into one you feel 100% comfortable with. Always that this is only aspects of the divine form and refection of the divine aspect in yourself.

3. Talk to people, discuss your belief with friends and family and find friends that share your views.

4. Find a place where you can connect with nature – the beach the woods or a tree in the local part.

5. Never ever think that your way is the only way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6. Remember that in life, teacher come to you in may guises and also you’re here to teach and share too.

7. And by calling yourself a witch does not make you one

8. And my most important rule the first words of wisdom are “I Know nothing” so never proclaim you know the right answer your path is the right and only path. It’s not it’s just the right path for you do preach, teach share your views as these will help a person find their path that truly right for them even if your view of their path differs from you.

I would also recommend that you keep a journal, as this will become a valuable insight to yourself and your spiritual development.

Although many would say, you need to know the structure of casting a circle, calling the quarters, invoking the goddess and god and rising energy grounding etc. a true witch needs none of this.

Whether you a natural witch, witch or Wiccan the fundamental ethical rule of the Witches Rede: “An It Harm None.” Applies.

The Hollywood view of witch is a little warped so if you’re planning to fly a broom and cast a spell at the flick of a wand then you need study very hard and learn your limitations and history. I am not saying these things are impossible but I doubt that the divine could find you worthy enough to wield such power accept your limitations.

I would say look at the reasons why you wish to become Wiccan or a witch and if you desire control over others or power then there are many paths but Wicca and witchcraft are not your path.

Wiccan’s desire a better world where all is in harmony and work towards that in their daily lives. Pagan Paths including Wicca have nothing to do Satan or the Devil these are pseudo-Christian pills without prescription creations as well as the concept of Good and Evil and do not belong in the craft.

So to the question how does one become a witch or Wiccan the only true answer is you declare your self as one and live that life in truth and honesty with the ideals and ethics of that path a self dedication is what is needed.
