Ok, this is from the Daily Mash, which is a spoof site. However, all of their stuff is based off actually happenings, which means this is completely true. Unfortunately my computer isn't cooperating enough to find the actual policy.

Police Issued Guidelines On How To Behave While Trapped In A Wicker Man

NEW police guidelines on religious tolerance will include how to behave sensitively when being sacrificed to a Pagan deity.

The 300-page guidebook has been updated to recognise the religious sensitivities of those who worship nature, which actually exists, as opposed to an angry man in the sky who keeps massive jars of plague.

A Police Federation spokesman said: “During stressful situations there is a tendency to use hurtful or insensitive language, especially if you’re trapped in a massive, highly flammable corn dolly while an entire village gambols around it with lit branches singing folk songs about ‘ye offerings’.

“Naturally this situation is a long way from best practise in terms of health and safety, but the officer should refrain from using ideologically inappropriate language while begging for egress.

“For example, the phrase ‘Jesus Christ, help me!’, clearly presupposes that a Christian god would be willing to intervene and somehow overpower the Pagan god. Likewise ‘you’re all insane!’ infers that religious practise is some sort of mental illness and opens up a Dawkins-esque Pandora’s Box.”

According to the guidelines, the correct procedure would be to request flame-retardant garments from the appointed fire warden, who is usually the one carrying a pig’s bladder and called ‘Simple Tom’, and then calmly wait for help after telephoning the relevant bodies.

The guidebook also includes advice on dealing with victims of witchcraft, advising special caution with anyone who may have been turned into an animal after crossing a local female.

One police constable said:”A Jack Russell wandered into the station and we just had to sit back and let it do a shit on my desk in case it used to be an errant blacksmith.

“That said, I am scared of witches. They are my least favourite thing after paperwork and Asians.”

    Aphrodite

In Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty and sexual rapture. According to Hesiod, she was born when Uranus (the father of the gods) was castrated by his son Cronus. Cronus threw the severed genitals into the ocean which began to churn and foam about them. From the aphros ("sea foam") arose Aphrodite, and the sea carried her to either Cyprus or Cythera. Hence she is often referred to as Kypris and Cytherea. Homer calls her a daughter of Zeus and Dione.

After her birth, Zeus was afraid that the gods would fight over Aphrodite's hand in marriage so he married her off to the smith god Hephaestus, the steadiest of the gods. He could hardly believe his good luck and used all his skills to make the most lavish jewels for her. He made her a girdle of finely wrought gold and wove magic into the filigree work. That was not very wise of him, for when she wore her magic girdle no one could resist her, and she was all too irresistible already. She loved gaiety and glamour and was not at all pleased at being the wife of sooty, hard-working Hephaestus.

Aphrodite loved and was loved by many gods and mortals. Among her mortal lovers, the most famous was perhaps Adonis. Some of her sons are Eros, Anteros, Hymenaios and Aeneas (with her Trojan lover Anchises). She is accompanied by the Graces.
Her festival is the Aphrodisiac which was celebrated in various centers of Greece and especially in Athens and Corinth. Her priestesses were not prostitutes but women who represented the goddess and sexual intercourse with them was considered just one of the methods of worship. Aphrodite was originally an old-Asian goddess, similar to the Mesopotamian Ishtar and the Syro-Palestinian goddess Ashtart. Her attributes are a.o. the dolphin, the dove, the swan, the pomegranate and the lime tree.

In Roman mythology Venus is the goddess of love and beauty and Cupid is love's messenger.
