I love the Lammas/Lughnasadh celebrations! The energy of the abundance and prosperity that comes with the ripening of the harvest and the plenty that Mother Earth is now offering to us is indeed a wonderful thing! Gladly and happily will we celebrate together as a Shrine, as a Family and in spirit with you all.
I do want to note something regarding Lammas lore that you will hear often during this time. We tend to celebrate here by making corn dollies out of corn husks. Please keep in mind that the celtic people from which this celebration originated from where not aware of corn (the yellow kernels) and what we call corn here has a different meaning in the country of origin."The word "corn" has many different meanings depending on what country you are in. Corn in the United States is also called maize or Indian corn. In some countries, corn means the leading crop grown in a certain district. Corn in England means wheat; in Scotland and Ireland, it refers to oats. Corn mentioned in the Bible probably refers to wheat or barley. " – http://www.agron.iastate.edu/
The same goes in my language, Wheat and Barley is Korn and what we call here corn is Mais. Therefore the original celebration included wheat and grain in the celebrations and very unlikely what we now call corn.
That said I prefer to include both – wheat and grains to honor my heritage and that of my extended family and corn – in order to include the Native American's who's continent I now call home. I just try to make sure that people as they read about this celebration are aware of the difference.

Manna Ash or South European Flowering Ash
(Fraxinus ornus )The Ash tree small spring-flowering deciduous tree. It secretes a sweet sap known as manna in July and August which was harvested by the ancients. Manna was believed to be closely related to honey (the word for both was meli in Greek). The tree was said to have been first sprung from the blood of heaven, and its manna was often described as the sky-fallen juice of the stars. The stem of the young ash was in the crafting spear-shafts.
According to myth, in Zeus's childhood he was nursed by the Meliae (Oread nymphs of the mountain ash), and guarded by the Kouretes under the shade of such a tree.
Thus, this tree is sacred to Zeus, the Kouretes, and in referrence for its use as a commodity to make weapons connects it with Ares

And planted the Seed
Long did we Toil
To get what we Need
The days now grow Short
The wheel it has Turned
We sowed root and Wort
Now we reap what we've Earned
We harvest our Fields
Full of Health, Luck and Love
We gather great yields
Of our Gifts from Above
Prosperity Grows
Even as the Sun Wanes
Happiness Glows
Through the late sunmer Rains
Our thanks Overflowing
Our hearts filled with Glee
We harvest our Sowing

Different astrological traditions strongly disagree about this day. The Vedic tradition doesn't recommend starting anything, especially if it concerns getting income, and advises you not to travel. On the contrary, Globa considers this day appropriate for any important business, and the European tradition treats it as generally happy. - Next Full Moon Date: Friday, August 3, 2012

Some Native American tribes knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this full Moon. Others called it the Green Corn Moon or the Grain Moon. The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

It was upon a Lammas night, When corn rigs are bonie: Customs and Traditions of Lammas
The 1st August is the ancient festival of ‘Lammas Tide’, which traditionally is the start of the harvest calendar: – a time of giving thanks to ‘Mother Nature’ for all her fruits and reaping what has been sown. The Celts originally called it ‘Lugnasad’ and would celebrate by honouring ‘Lugh’, the sun god; however, the Saxons renamed the festival ‘hlaf-maesse’ meaning ‘loaf mass’, which later became ‘Lammas’, as we know it today. Traditionally it was the day when the first new grain was milled and baked into small loaves of bread, which were offered on the altar for a blessing and as thanks-giving for the first fruits of the harvest. Sometimes this service was reserved for ‘Garland Sunday’, the first Sunday after Lammas Day
