Where Magick come to life

Tools of the craft

Pagan 150x150 Tools of the craftMany neo pagan paths will use tools as part of their ritual work. Pagan ritual tools can be bought or made, although the majority of pagan tools will require a high degree of skill to construct.

Although no witch or pagan needs tools to perform magicks, cast spells or for ritual work it is nice to have them. But what should you buy and for what reason, below is a list of pagan and craft tools, I have separated the tools in to primary, secondary and tertiary craft tools

Primary tools of the craft

These tools are use in a majority of neo pagan paths and are common tools of the craft.

The Athame

The Athame (pronounced ah-thah-may) is a double-sided dagger with either a straight or flame shaped blade with a black handle. The blade is blunt so it does not accidentally cut someone, if Athame blade comes in contact with blood would render it useless and polluted. The Athame is never used to cut only to direct energy and is used in casting a circle.

The Athame is associated with the East and Air or South and Fire depending on which pagan path you follow. The Athame is also associated with the Male deity due to it phallic shape and is often used in conjunction with the Chalice and cauldron to symbolise the union of the god and goddess.

Besom Or Bossume

The traditional witches broom use to sweep away negativity and is used in Handfasting ceremonies witches are often depicted flying on a besom, The Besom is constructed from bundle of birch twigs, a staff of ash or oak, and a binding made from willow wands and is associated with the west and water.

Book of shadows

This is a book were possible leather bound and hand made but normally a large book containing rituals, spells, recipes, tables of correspondences and notes it possible to find that the contents may have been written in a magickal language such as runes or Theban. Their are coven Books of shadows and indervidual books of shadows

The Cauldron.

The cauldron has many uses within neo pagan paths and witchcraft; it is used for cooking, potions and food, scying, spell work. The cauldron is a three-footed pot with lid that comes in a range of sizes from tiny to mammoth size.

The cauldron is associated to the goddess and is seen a womb and a grave and places of hidden mysteries. The cauldron is associated with the west and water but can be used with any element with out conflict as the cauldron can be placed on earth or in fire filled with water when heat creates steam (air).

The censer

The censer is used to burn the incense that is often offered to the Deities, as well as being used to invoke the spirits of the Air, the Sylphs and Faery. The censer can be swinging brass burner or a few incense sticks held together and by wafting will become a censer.

The censer is a tool of the element Air.

Cup or Chalice

The Cup or Chalice is closely associated with the cauldron and is often called a bowl and is used to contain salt water, or wine for libation. The cup, chalice or bowl is normally made from brass, animal horn, crystal, glass or ceramic; some paths may have one Chalice for libation and other Cups (bowls) on an altar.

The Chalice represents the goddess and the west and water and is often used in conjunction with the Athame to symbolise the union of the goddess and goddess.

Cord Or Cingulum

The cord is used in some initiation rituals to bind the applicant; the cord is also used to mark out the circumference of a circle.

The Pentagram

The symbol of the pentagram is often worn a jewellery, engrave and printed on fabrics or ornaments and tools of the craft. The pentagram is also used as an altar plate where spells are constructed or offerings are places. The pentagram is associated with the goddess and the direction north and earth but can be associated with any element depending on the way it has be cast.

Wand

Often used as a replacement or alternative to the Athame wands can be made from wood or metal and it is possible to have more than one wand as wand can be created for specific purposes.

The wand is associated with the god and depending on tradition is either associated with the south and fire or east and air.

Secondary tools of the craft

The secondary tools are important but are not used in all pagan paths they are often associated or akin to primary tools.

Bells

The bell is often use to symbolise a beginning or completion or used as a source of vibration to help add energy to your working associated with east and air.

Candles

Although no ritual seems to be complete with out candle light candles are used in ritual as symbols or representations of the elements, the deities a person or for spell work. Candles are associated with the south and fire but the corresponding colours can be used to invoke other associations.

The Staff

Basically a staff, is a big wand and has the same associations and uses but it can also be used as a symbol of leadership.

The Sword

The Sword is a big Athame with the same association and is used in the same way and can be used as a symbol of leader ship.

Tertiary tools of the craft

The tools of the craft are not required for every ritual but no doubt every pagan and witch will have most if not all of these items.

Burin Or Bolline

A minor tool, a white hilted knife, is used for cutting herbs and any other use save magickal ritual in which the Athame is implemented. Many paths differ on the need for the Burin. Gardnerian Wicca absolutely forbids the use of the Athame for any purpose other than rituals. Seax-Wica on the other hand finds no need for it. It is a tool either abandoned or accepted by the various paths.

Crystals

Crystals use as altar decorations offerings used in spell work and healings.

Divination tools

Divination tools, such as runes, tarot cards, crystal balls used in spell work and affirmation

Herbs

Herbs used in incense as offerings in spell working and healing.

Poppets

Poppets or effigies these are either cloth or made from wax and are used in healing and spell work.

Sigils of the craft

symbols and charms and talismans used in jewellery, spell work healing and ritual works the most common Sigel is the pentagram.

humor 150x150 The Wiccan Shaman Druid SongI’m a Wiccan-Shaman-Druid,
I am new age through and through.
Decked in crystals from my head to toe,
With feathers and pyramids, too.
My spirit-guide is from Atlantis.
He’s a Zen-Aztec guru.
Come and spend the weekend with us,
For two thousand dollars
You’ll be a Wiccan-Shaman too.

I’m an Elvis-Loki-Viking.
I channel Ashley Montague.
In a former life I was a gypsy clerk,
Bull fighter, and troubadour, too.
I know five Illuminati,
They’re a strange and motley crew.
There’s a priest from ancient China,
He lives in my basement.
He is an Elvis-Viking too.

My coven is part Rosicrucian,
Mixed with some Theosophy.
Add in some stuff from the Golden Dawn,
`Cause Crowley’s just all right with me.
I’ve got twelve initiations,
I’ve seen all there is too see.
And watch out for those strange Co-Mason-Santaria-Druids,
They’ll cement your chickens to a tree.

I’ve got a pipe ceremony,
Adapted from the O.T.O.
I use a sweatlodge for my Beltane rites,
The Maypole is just there for show.
I have got a glass athame,
With batteries to make it glow.
It’s just great for calling quarters

Timing.

Waning moon to black moon (note the closer to the black moon the stronger the results so start with baby steps start just after full moon and work towards a black moon do not perform day after day unless you have done some practice I could take a year or mores practice before you can do the whole waning moon).

Consecration of Chalice, Athame or Other Tool

witch spells 150x150 Consecration of Chalice, Athame or Other ToolDefinitions of consecration on the Web:

  • A solemn commitment of your life or your time to some cherished purpose (to a service or a goal); “his consecration to study”
  • (Religion) sanctification of something by setting it apart (usually with religious rites) as dedicated to God; “the Cardinal attended the consecration of the church
  • Consecration is the solemn dedication to a special purpose or service, usually religious. The word “consecration” literally means, “to associate with the sacred”. Persons, places, or things can be consecrated, and different groups use the term in various ways.

Consecration of tools is more that just cleansing a tool of negative energy it away to make a personal connection with your ritual tools. Now whether your tools are for group use or solitary use the ritual is the same combined with Gauldor can make for very powerful objects.

Below is a consecration ritual with adaptation to deities can be made to fit any pagan path.

This is the original ritual I used to consecrate my tools but over the years have adapted to create a very personal ritual I hope you will use the info and create your own personal ritual using the deities that you are associated with and do feel free to post your rituals so that other can share your magicks.

Consecration of Chalice, Athame or Other Tool

Before these assembled spirits I bring (name type of tool) to be dedicated to the service of the Lady and Lord.

(Pass tool three times through smoke of the incense.)

By the power of air, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to purity of thought and to harmlessness that all intentions for which thou art used may harm none and be for the good of all.

(Pass tool three times through or over the flame of the fire candle.)

By the power of fire, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to purity of desire and to harmlessness that all goals which thou doest help achieve may harm none and be for the good of all.

(Take a few drops of water and sprinkle or dab on instrument.)

By the power of water, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to purity of emotion and to harmlessness that all that thou shalt be used in a spirit of harmony, harming none and for the good of all.

(Touch instrument to the stone or salt in north quarter)

By the power of earth, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to steadfastness and purity of purpose, that my will be achieved without wavering, with harm to none and for the good of all.

(If this is a chalice, present it first to the Lady, then to the Lord, if athame, reverse order. All other instruments use personal preference, but it is courtesy to present them to Her first.)

PRESENTATION FOR CHALICE:

Lady Freya, Keeper of Femininity, bless this chalice. Let it be as Thy cauldron, a vessel of productivity that it may be worthy to dispense Thy bounty. Let it be used in Thy service and in the service of humanity. Let it be so bound that no harm may come of it to any being, but let it rather be an instrument of goodwill and understanding; of loving harmony. To Thy sacred self I dedicate this vessel, (name of vessel), that it and I may long be of service to Thee.

A Letter From A Teacher Sent To Pagan Parents

humor 208x300 A Letter From A Teacher Sent To Pagan ParentsDear Mr. and Mrs. Thomas,

I write this letter in concern of your daughter, Aradia Moon. Please don’t take this the wrong way, however, although she is a straight A student and a very bright child, she has some strange habits that I feel we should address.

Every morning before class, she insists on walking around the room with her pencil in the air. She says she is “drawing down the moon.” I told her art class is in an hour and to please refrain until then to do any drawing.

And speaking of art class, whenever she draws a night sky, she insists on drawing little circles around all the stars and people dancing on the ground. And that brings up dancing, I had to stop her twice for taking off her clothes during a game of Ring Around the Rosey! By the way, what does “skyclad” mean?

Aradia has no problem with making friends. I always find her sitting outside during recess with her friends sitting around her in a circle. She likes to share her juice and cookies. It is nice how she wants no one to ever thirst or hunger. However, when I walked over to see what they were doing, she jumped up and told me to stop, pulled out a little plastic knife and started waiving it in front of me. I thought this a bit dangerous, so I took her to the Principal’s Office. She explained to the Principal that she was “opening the circle” to let me in. She also said that her Mommy and Daddy always told her not to play or run with an “athame” in her hand, that she could put someone’s eye out. I don’t know what an “athame” is, but I’m glad she keeps it at home.

As for stories, your daughter tends to make up some whoppers. Just yesterday while I was talking sternly to Tommy Johson and shaking my finger at him, he started screaming and ran from the room. When I finally caught him, he told me Aradia told him and the rest of the class that the last time I shook my finger at someone, they caught the chicken pox. I explained to him that the Sally Jones incident was just a coincidence, and that things like that don’t really happen.

One of the strangest things that happened was when I asked the children to bring in Halloween decorations for the classroom. Aradia brought in salt, incense, and her family album. I see she has quite a sense of humour.

One of Aradia’s worst habits is that she is very argumentative. We were discussing what the Golden Rule was (Do Unto Others as you would have them Do Unto You), she firmly disagreed with me and stated that it was “Do As you Will, but Harm None” and she will not stop saying “So Mote It Be” after she reads aloud in class. I try to correct her on these matters and she got very angry. She pointed her finger at me and mumbled something under her breath.

In closing, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, I would like to set up a parent/teacher conference with you sometime next week to discuss these matters. I would like to see you sooner, but I have developed an irritating rash that I am quite worried about.

With deep concerns,

Mrs. Livingston

P.S. Blessed Be. I understand this is a greeting or closing from your country that your daughter informs me is polite and correct.

Altars and Altar cloths

Pagan 150x150 Altars and Altar clothsThe Altar is the sacred space upon which tools are kept. Two main forms of Altars exist, round or pentagonal altars, which stand in the middle of the circle or rectangular ones, placed against walls or the far east of the circle. Both are fairly simple to make, although a pentagonal altar requires more work. Decorator tables are good, cheap altars, but can’t hold much weight. Chief among the “bonuses” of decorator tables is the fact that they either fold up or have removable legs for storage and transport. Some decorator tables are all wood instead of wood and metal, fulfilling the requirements of some traditions.

To make a round altar simply, take a wooden crate and glue a round piece of plywood to it, or attach three, four or five equal length “legs” to a single piece.

One modern Book of Shadows suggests five decorative posts, cut at slight angles, glued with silicone to a plate glass mirror. If you have a root worker who twists willow roots into stands and chairs, which would make a sturdier stand for a mirrored altar. Mirrored altars are fairly new, although The Sacred book of one Family Tradition has a reference to a two hundred year old one. As a practical matter, mirrored altars double your light, but they also scratch, break, and weigh a lot. They are wonderful stationary altars outside or in, but terrible if you plan to move a lot.

A “T” altar is easy to make, simply glue three pieces of wood together, for strength, add a fourth or fifth. They tend to tip when built too narrowly, so be careful.

A 6 piece “T” Altar for stationary use. Can be Glued, Nailed or assembled with a sliding joint assembly.

Altar Cloths are circular or square and hang about half way to the floor. Usually an altar cloth is White, although many lunar rituals use black or deep blue altar cloths. The Night Sky cloth, or Universe cloth is studded with small stars that is either “nail heads” bead work or embroidery and is sometimes used in fancier rituals.

If you are going to use an untreated cloth, make sure it’s cotton, because cotton doesn’t tend to burn quickly. To be safe, either put a piece of glass (round table glasses are available at many department) on top of the Altar or sprits the altar with water before the ritual.

An altar glass is a wonderful thing if you wish to use your cloth more than once, since wax is very difficult to remove from many materials.

A Glass is important if you intend to use velvet! Velvet burns fairly easily, reacts poorly to salt water and is nearly destroyed by better waxes (Like beeswax.) The Altar glass, backed by black velvet, can be used for Scrying, and, while not as effective as a mirror, does improve the amount of light your candles give. It’s not a staggering investment, and if you can keep it in one piece it saves money in the long run.

Make sure to felt the bottoms of very hard (like iron) candleholders before keeping them on the altar, and if your Athame is to rest unsheathed place a small square of cloth beneath it.

Altar cloths can be plan or coloured to match candle colour. Or be of a complementary colour personal choice is important, but most traditions use a coloured cloth with white candles or coloured candles with a white cloth. The Altar cloth colour is considered the same in meaning to a candle colour, so use the chart for candles for cloth colours.

”An Altar should be made from wood, no metal, excepting those Altars with compartments in which to hide the Blessed Book, which may contain metal if the metal is needed for the hidden space.” -A Fam-trad.

Family Tradition or “Fam-Trad” Witchcraft

The practices and beliefs of those who claim to belong to (or to have been taught by members of) families that supposedly were “underground” Paleo- or Mesopagans for several centuries in Europe and/or the Americas, using their wealth and power to stay alive and secret. The overwhelming majority of the people you will ever meet who claim to be Fam-Trad Witches are simply lying, or have been lied to by their teachers. Family Tradition Witchcraft is also sometimes called “Hereditary Witchcraft” or even “Genetic Witchcraft.” These latter terms are used by those people who think they must claim a witch as an ancestor to be a witch today or who think that such ancestry “proves” them to be better witches than those without such ancestry.

”We crafted our Altar from an old tree stump and by the second year it had been sprinkled so often that the wood had somehow sprouted a new tree….S suggested a mirrored Altar for the moonlight rituals…..this felt to us like it doubled the full moon that night.”-Wolf Moon Coven

Wolf Moon Grove is a Traditional Wiccan Coven, based in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. Wolf Moon is first out of Mystic Moon Coven, based in Davie, Florida.

New Electrics Causes Energy Vortex pt2

1312087 f520 150x150 New Electrics Causes Energy Vortex pt2At the moment I am having a new kitchen fitted so I prepped before closing down the kitchen as I packed it all away. But on Wednesday I awoke to the bookshelf on the floor which was just the start of a day that got worse and worse I knocked things over, things got broke and my stress levels rose.

I could feel my own energy draining from me I could not understand what had caused such a change so I tried several versions to bring back some balance but to no avail.

Things even got to the stage that I even asked for help and stuck a request on facebook (the Cyber Cauldron page) to which I got so great advice.

27012011674 150x150 New Electrics Causes Energy Vortex pt2

Extra wiring causing the poor flow of energy

I stood facing an empty kitchen and it hit me I could almost see the energy moving around the room, it was not like the normal flow that the house it seem that the energy of the room was pouring straight into the ground pulling all the energy from the house.

I had to work out what was causing it then I suddenly saw what was causing the issues. New wiring! A circle of wire was now set in the ceiling with extra wires coming down for new plug sockets.

The new electro magnetic fields that where now present where not being directed in to the room but down the walls and straight into the ground so I need to find a way of redirecting the energy back in to the room.

After lots of though I came up with a form of an elemental balancing, which was designed to add, back some of the missing elements. Choose not to do a full ritual but I did cast a circle using some of the most powerful correspondences I could find.

27012011676 150x150 New Electrics Causes Energy Vortex pt2

Circle set up

I placed a cauldron at the centre of the circle and placed the statue of my goddess inside the cauldron. I placed a bell in the east to represent air, I used my Athame in the south a large chunk of coral in the west and in the north I used a stag horn.

I then called each element in turn asking them to charge the area with their element and bring balance to the room.

I asked them to draw any negative energy and the new electro magnetic forces and place them in the cauldron. I the partitioned the goddess to transform the energy in the cauldron in to a lighter friendlier energy and redirect back into the room.

I then seal the circle from the outside and visualised the energy of the element as swirling pillars of energy I watched as the acted like cyclones sucking in the negativity and electro magnetic particles which where directed into the cauldron which glowed like golden water flowing from the cauldron feeling the room with a golden light.

I then left the circle doing it job overnight and once I woke I opened the kitchen door and disassembled the circle I then filled the cauldron with spring water and took it to the garden to be poured away.

I then did my normal meditation and the house is coming back to a normal balance.

I have wrote this up as a reminder to us all that sometime it physical object can effect us and create negativity that can cause us much distress and that our first option is to always look for a spiritual or magickal cause.

Our environment is the heart of our power and when we change our environment even slightly it can effect energy flow which can have a huge effect or our well being some times for the better, others for the worse.

When things go wrong start by looking at what has change in most cases the energy can be adjusted by correcting the change other times a little magick is needed to restore the balance.

Paraphernalia

Pagan 150x150 ParaphernaliaI can remember when I was first starting that I wanted all the best tools but money was an issues so I used to troll around car boot sales, charity shops and flea market trying to find things that I could use for my alter. You will quite surprised on what you can pick up for just a few quid.

Over the years I have replaced all my second had stuff with brand new stuff and some of it is more pretty that practical (who does not have a chalice with a loose liner) but it makes me think what tools do you really need? To be really honest you don’t really need any tools, fingers can replace wands and athames and a chalice can be replaced by cup etc.

You can spend thousands of pounds buying robes; alter statues, [wikipedia]wands[/wikipedia], [wikipedia]athames[/wikipedia], Chalices, Crystals to dress your [wikipedia]altar[/wikipedia], pots and dishes and [wikipedia]cauldrons[/wikipedia] and pointless things like hand bound virgin parchment paper leather bound book of shadows but having expensive tools does not make you a good witch or even a competent witch. When building your tools worry more about what feels like than what it looks like, just remember to cleanse second hand items full before use.

So what do you need for a basic alter from my point of view a candle and a joss stick works fine but if want to add more to that then you can. Here are some ideas for low cost replacements to expensive altar equipment.

Equipment Replacement
God/dess statues
  1. Stones or Pebbles with the goddess and god symbol drawn on

I have found that I have better rituals with altar equipment that I have created myself they may not be the prettiest but they have all the energy that I poured into them when made them.

A good idea is to join a pottery class and make what you need. Remember that no one has the right to tell you should not put something on your alter create what you feel is right for yourself.

When your first trying out a pagan path there are two very good reasons why you should create your own personal tools rather than buy direct from a catalogue or internet shop, the first is it will help you empower the items with greater ease due to your personal connection the second is paganism is not for everyone and why spend a fortune on something your not going to continue.

There is one thing that never seems to get mentioned in regards to altars and that a tape deck MP3 Player or CD player as music is important in raising energy I will chat about music in rituals in next posting, but insure what ever technology you use to play your music just make sure it is ease to control and that you can pause and play with out to much trouble.

Beltane Solitary Ritual

maypole 300x225 Beltane Solitary RitualThis ritual is originally from Wiccan Path by Rae Beth and is a lovely ritual for solitary wiccans, and great for the newbie I found that it lack the passion of Beltaine so for the less subdued of you I have made adjustment to the original text. Now I have used this ritual before so the adaptations are not new to me. For the beginner and for some people the idea of sex and sexuality can be a difficult subject to talk about when it comes to ritual.

The one thing that you need to keep in mind is Beltane marks the union of the two deities, bringing new life to the earth and the keyword is UNION, which does mean sexual relations. We as pagan do not fear sex but embrace it’s a natural act. The reason I have included the adaptations is that it shows how you can take a very good ritual and without to much work make it personal or more in tune with the festival / Sabbat

Preparation

Before this ritual you should, spend some time, creating a wand. The wand should be 13 inches long and about half an inch thick. The tip of the wand should be carved into the shape of a phallus. Although it is acceptable to just use a branch with the bark peeled off.

The wood should either be Oak or Hazel (remember. Do not take the word from a living tree).

The wand should be placed on your alter a long, with a prepared dish of earth.

The Ritual

Cast the Circle and invoke the Lady (goddess) and the Lord (god). After the invocation, dance and chant to raise power for magical activities and then earth the power into an unlit candle, placed inside the cauldron, at the centre of the circle. Chant the following (or make up your own!):

Beltane!
I dance with delight
on Beltane’s night.
All senses freeing,
I dance for being.
The flower and the flame
of love’s own rite
shall blossom. Sun
embrace Earth, bright.

Light the candle to the Sun. This is the Beltane fire, our modern substitute for the hilltop bonfires of our ancestors. The Bel fire is an invocation to the Sun God to bring blessing and protection for the coming year. This is sacred fire with healing and purifying properties. As you light the candle, be aware of its power and significance. Say:

I light this candle to the Sun.

Now take up a dish of earth. Bless it in the name of the Goddess.

Lay your hands upon it and say:

I bless, consecrate, and set apart this earth, in the name of the Triple Goddess. May this be sacred earth, set apart for magick. For earth is of the Goddess, being her sacred body.

Remember that the Goddess is not only of the Moon, but also of the Earth and of the farthest stars. She is the Triple Goddess of the Circle of Rebirth, the Mother of All Life. Decorate the dish of earth with flowers.

Now, take a wooden wand and oil it with vegetable oil ( good quality oil something you have just bought for ritual *). Bless it in the name of the Lord of the Day, the youthful, ardent one, the Lord of Life, the God of the greenwood. Pass it swiftly through the candle flame, the Bel fire, so that it becomes magically imbued, ‘charged’, with power. Place the wand upon the dish of earth, saying as you hold it there: [1]

As the wand is to the earth,

so the male is to the female

and the Sun to our blossoming world.

Joined, they bring happiness.

May the God of Life give ___ {something you want, for example, peace on Earth}

May the Goddess bring it forth! [end 1]

Sit quietly for a while, and picture the blossoming of what you have desired in life. The spells and invocations of all of us, all working on themes like these, must eventually bear fruit, because life is on the side of peace. Leave the earth and wand upon the alter.

Walk deosil three times around the circle, and then spiral into the centre. Go evenly, with grace, meditatively. Sit beside the candle flame, allowing yourself to feel peaceful. Gaze into the flame.

The next part is different depending on whether you are man or woman.

For a Woman: visualize a red rosebud in your womb. Always your womb is the source of your creative power, whether you are pregnant with a child, an idea, a work of art or an intention. Close your eyes and picture the light from the candle streaming into your womb so that the rosebud blooms, unfolds. Hold the image for a while, feeling the silkiness, smelling the scent, the freshness, seeing the colour of the fully open rose within you. Feel the strength and power of your own fully blossomed capabilities. Say: [2]

I am woman,
strong to conceive and to create,
to give birth and to tend.

As I am daughter of the Goddess,
and blessed by the God, may I ___

{here name what you wish to bring forth in life. For example bring healing to others or write my book whatever matters to you}[end 2]

Feel the strength and creative force within your womb, the centre of your being. See the power being channelled, flowing into the desire you have just voiced. Open your eyes. Always, the rose is within you.

For a Man: Visualize a bright flame. This burns within your sexual centre, a point at the base of the stomach, just above the pubic hairline. It is your own male strength and energy which may rise through your body to be released as giving, fertilizing power, in any form, or may be the potency which impregnates, creating a physical child. It is the force which blesses and bestows, a healing and creative energy, like the shining Sun. Visualize also that you are sitting in a garden and that a rose tree is in front of you, the roses in bud. Say:

[3] man,
and in my passion is beauty,
in my warmth is life.
As I am son of the Goddess,
and blessed by the God,
I offer my strength and vitality to ____

{name the area of life, the place, activity, or commitment you choose}[end 3]

Visualize the light streaming from you to a rose upon the tree causing it to unfold, to blossom. Your flame is lowered by this effort. Much has gone out of you, the flame sinks down. Wait and watch, until a pink light streams from the rose towards your body. At its touch, just above the pubic hairline the flame resurges. It burns higher and stronger than before. Open your eyes. The flame is always within you.

* if your going to use the adapted words keep in mind that the wand is going to be a phallus and a representation of the god so add a little sexual feeling to the oiling

Adaptation to wording

[1] Place the wand in earth (like when you place Athame in the chalice) , saying as you hold it there: as the wand is to the male and to the phallus the earth is the virgina and the womb may the seed create life. And let this life be {something you want, for example, peace on Earth} let the goddess grow it and let the god protect it and give it is strength.

[2], I am she woman born of woman, woman born of Goddess I am here to create and to nurture I am a mother with or without children, and the maiden, carefree and fertile and crone the endless possibility I have the power to create to bring life and with the will of the goddess and the blessing of the God. I choose to create {here name what you wish to bring forth in life. For example bring healing to others or write my book whatever matters to you}

[3] I am he born of woman from the seed of a man growing inside her nurtured and loved and taught the roles of man. The wildness of nature is reflected in my youth, as a man I am the warrior and protector to defend the ones I love in my age I will learn compassion and wisdom I am a child of the goddess and the God. I am my father’s son. I give to you, my strength and my virility {name the area of life, the place, activity, or commitment you choose}

 Beltane Solitary Ritual

Sex, sexuality and magick

SexSpells SexSpell 175x300 Sex, sexuality and magickBuy Cialis alt=”" width=”175″ height=”300″ />The god is the symbol of male potency he is often portrayed a horned figure his symbols are the male penis erect, the woods horned animals such as the stag, the Athame and the sword. While the goddess is the symbol for the feminine mysteries and her symbols are the vagina, the cup and the cauldron.

In the Wiccan tradition groups are normally male / female, male / female with the group being head by a High Priest and Priestess, and one of the most important rituals in Wicca is the Great Rite. During this rite, which celebrates the union of the God and Goddess. The High Priest will assume the part of the God and the Priestess will assume the role of the goddess.

The God aspect in ritual is the Goddess’s consult and their union is played out in the Great Rite in some groups this ritual is acted out and in other groups the rite is a full or partial sexual act between the high priest and priestess. Sex is something pagans and Wiccan’s treat as sacred and is always done in great reverence and where the rite is physically performed a couple in a relationship that are shielded from the group or they withdraw and return after the act.

Although pagan enjoy sex … a lot! it is sacred act to us in magicks and in life and would never, rape, abuse children or have sex with animals. All pagans will agree to very basic ethical rules when it comes to sex.

  1. Sexual partners must be of legal age.
  2. Sexual partners must consent and be a willing participant.
  3. Sexual partners must be of the same species.
  4. All acts of sex are gifts from the goddess and should be enjoyed not endured.
  5. Homosexuality is normal many of the gods are gay or enjoy same sex relations.
  6. Sex should never invoke fear, pain or distress

Wiccan and pagan rituals contain a lot of sexual symbology the Athame being plunged in to a Chalice is a representation of intercourse. Wiccan’s and pagans believe that sex energy is very powerful and potent and will often use sex in spell casting. The basic idea is that the rhythm of sex raises energy to climax when it is release just like building a cone of power.

Single people, couples or groups can preform sex magicks and there are many books on the subject of sex magick. Sex magicks should only be preformed by willing and knowing partners as it one of the most sacred act a Wiccan or pagan can perform.
