Balancing the roles of a pagan

OFFERING 150x150 Balancing the roles of a paganAs Pagans we have three roles in our life, these roles Farmer, Warrior and Priest and it does not matter what path you follow these roles exist (although may have different names). In many pagan paths three is an important number, the triple goddess, the three worlds (heaven , Earth and underworld), the three fold law, Birth / rebirth life and death and many others.

So why is it the three role of a pagan are not often mentioned??? I think basically because in most cases the get mixed in and blended into the views buy drugs online without prescription and practices or particular paths – I know of a few paths that put some emphasis on the roles of a pagan.

The roles themselves are like the goddess or god separate but part of the whole a pagan may spend their whole life dedicated to the role they have chosen and not achieve the balance they require as they neglect the two other role.

Now each or the roles can be worked through like stages but ideally after time each role should become part of pagan and daily life.

The Farmer

The farmer role is about hard work and reward financially and spiritually it is often the biggest role we have in our daily lives, we like a farmer plant our seeds what them grow or fail we care for the land we live on even if it just the few square feet of our homes. The idea behind the farmer is about receiving rewards through hard work, now many of us like our jobs but just as many don’t as farmers we must take pride in our work if a farmer does not take pride in his field or life stock they will become full of weeds and pests until it becomes to much to handle causing things to die and wither. If we are in unsatisfying jobs we will face our own weeds and pests which each and everyday get bigger and stronger until we become consumed our life are spent seeking thrills to balance the drab life as the farmer.

The warrior

The warrior is a defender of values, a knight in shining armour; these are the thinks we will fight for our beliefs or convictions. The warrior is bound in honour and act in defence and with out aggression. The warrior will stand and die for what he / she believes is correct. The warrior is within us all, the mother who protect her children, the husband who defends the virtue of his wife, The person who stands up and say that must stop, The person who believes that they are right and will not back down. To be a warrior you will need to know how to defend yourself become skilled in weaponry and mental disciplines. Today to be a good warrior you need to be able to use your voice and intellect not guns or knives or even fists you aim, as a warrior is to be a knight in shining armour and not a tosser in tinfoil.

But there are times when as a warrior where you could face death for your beliefs and if your beliefs are strong enough you will be happy to die for them although in this modern day an age it is rare to a spiritual warrior dieing for the beliefs although you have plenty of warriors dieing for others belief as a spiritual warrior you must be sure of your convictions and insure that your actions pure if your gonna die for something be sure it what you belief in your heart.

The Priest

This is not the role we play in ritual but a role we play in daily life the person that other confide in, a priest offers help without the need to be asked we see when others are in pain and choose to offer support and friendship it a higher self one free from the worry of what others may say. It the part of us that seeks out goodness in others and helps to develop it. It the part of us that strives to be at peace and even isolated from the sounds of the mundane world so we can hear the true voice of the divine.

Now when we look at the role each of us will see them in our own daily lives and we can the look at bringing them in to balance. The is no perfect formula or universal standard as each of us are individuals the best you can hope for is to find that internal balance and make changes to improve it.

Start with the farmer, look at your work life are you happy and productive? What changes do you need to make? Is your working life preventing you from being the spiritual warrior or the priest.

Next the warrior, are you constantly looking for a cause to fight something to give you a purpose? Are you fighting battles with your health or mind (inner demons) ? are you neglecting the role of farmer or priest as you feel your causes are worthy of all your time.

And finally the priest are you spending all your free time seeking spiritual enlightenment forsaking hard work and emotional battles in an attempt to be a better person or living for the needs of others hiding away from the real world?

Once you understand each role you have you can look at your life if it is in balance you should be working for what you need sharing the extras with family and friends have strong convictions to your beliefs and have time to connect with the higher self and divine and life a totally fulfilled life. But sadly life is not like that we all work to hard neglect the important things in the hope of gaining less important things.

A simple technique is to get a bit of paper and write the three headings farmer, warrior and priest and write a list under each heading and review what you see and find ways to improve your life and bring balance where needed most of us find that during our lives the role of the farmer will dominate but if your aware then you can make the changes you need.

Dealing with death

grave 150x150 Dealing with deathAs a pagan I understand that death is a natural part of life and I also know that death is not a sudden end to existence. More so at the time of Samhain does my mind wanders to the lose that I have felt in my life just recently I lost my mother to cancer.

As a pagan my heart and spiritually know that this was a natural even and in some way I was glad she was out of pain. But no matter what I felt and knew as a spiritual being, I lashed out at family, friends and the world. I cried and wailed got angry and was sad and at many times through this emotional turmoil I was hit with moments where my goddess sustained me, and other where I felt so alone.

Death is a natural state and is very easy to deal with, I am almost sure that every faith that as a after life in it belief structure help us come to terms with death but the problem is that they don’t help us deal with the lose we feel

Dealing with lose is a personal thing and does not always happen immediately following a death and does not have a time scale to when it going to be over. Dealing with lose is called the grieving process and everyone goes through this process.

The Grieving process contain 5 basic stages which a person has to go through these stages do not always come in order and sometime a person may repeat one or more of the processes. These 5 stages of grieving is called the Kübler-Ross model and was introduced by by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in her 1969 book, On Death and Dying. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross originally applied these stages to people suffering from terminal illness, later to any form of catastrophic personal loss (job, income, freedom). This may also include significant life events such as the death of a loved one, divorce, drug addiction, the onset of a disease or chronic illness, an infertility diagnosis, as well many tragedies and disasters.

The five stages of grieving

1.Denial – “I feel fine.”; “This can’t be happening, not to me.”

Denial is usually only a temporary defence for the individual. This feeling is generally replaced with heightened awareness of positions and individuals that will be left behind after death.

2.Anger – “Why me? It’s not fair!”; “How can this happen to me?”; “Who is to blame?”

Once in the second stage, the individual recognizes that denial cannot continue. Because of anger, the person is very difficult to care for due to misplaced feelings of rage and envy. Any individual that symbolizes life or energy is subject to projected resentment and jealousy.

3.Bargaining – “Just let me live to see (person). One more time”; “I’ll do anything for a few more years with ….”;

The third stage involves the hope that the individual can somehow postpone, delay or there is someway of reversing death. Usually, the negotiation for an extended life is made with a higher power in exchange for a reformed lifestyle. Psychologically, the individual is saying, “I understand I will die, but if I could just have more time…”

4.Depression – “I’m so sad, why bother with anything?”; “I’m going to die… What’s the point?”; “I miss my loved one, why go on?”

During the fourth stage, the person begins to understand the certainty of death. Because of this, the individual may become silent, refuse visitors and spend much of the time crying and grieving. This process allows the person to disconnect oneself from things of love and affection. It is not recommended to attempt to cheer up an individual who is in this stage. It is an important time for grieving that must be processed.

5.Acceptance – “It’s going to be okay.”; “I can’t fight it, I may as well deal with getting on with my life.”

In this last stage, the individual begins to come to terms with his mortality or that of his loved one.

If you have experienced a lose it always help to talk about the person you have lost good times and bad this helps the person remain real in your heart and mind. Try to celebrate their life rather than mourn their passing. Grieve in your own way and accept that it’s a natural part of dealing with lose.

When you are ready to face the lose, and after grieving period show honour to your lost ones in what ever form you feel is appropriate.

Inspired by a walk

grave 150x150 Inspired by a walk As I felt today was to much of a day to waste sitting indoors at the PC I decided to go for a walk and connect with some divine inspiration from the moment I sacrificed a day of work to a higher purpose my mind speed to the idea of love, life and being me.

As soon as I decided that today was going to be a wash I put some music on had a dance and a jiggle and sung really badly along as I ran the hover around and as I was cleaning my life and my lovers ran through my mind. Along that journey there have been a few lovers some that lasted many years others that lasted mere weeks (days) but as I remembered the god and bad relationships I had no regrets (although at the time I did).

As the day went on the thought of love filled my mind and my mind wandered to a Facebook fan Lynne and her impending hand fasting anniversary and started to think about the effort that we put into our relationships.

And I began to think of my best friend and the closeness of our relationship how we can be so attuned even when we are on different wavelengths and the wonder I share just by being near her and her family. Being that I don’t have much of a family myself I realise that she helped to complete many of my dreams and hopes.

As a gay man I will never be a dad or have that perfect view of what life is meant to be, the role as a child that I was expected to grow into. So I started to question my life and at the mo not perfect just like everyone else.

As I looked at the ups and downs of my life I began to see a understanding of who I was, not what I was or what I would become, but who I was, I realised I was alone.

Now alone does not mean lonely I means I was alone! Unique! One of a kind I know this because of my path so it was no big shock.

But as these thought of uniqueness filled my mind I began to think of religion and since I have a wide knowledge of other belief systems (I am not an expert) as well as my own I started to think why do we follow a divinity I know science tells us that we are hard wired to believe in something higher and as a pagan I know I am a child of the goddess I am part of the divine I am the divine a true star child.

As I thought of other beliefs I occurred to me that the new religions are the most violent. us a pagan had our violent times (human and animal sacrifice) but we evolved and now today we range from fluffy bunny pagans to militant pagans who will do what is necessary! unless it causes harm!!!!

I then began to think of my own mortality, which is strange for me as I try to live each day of my life as if it was my last. I try to see the beauty in all people and things and realised that death would soon be with me so I started to think of my regrets and I spent ages going over my life and my failings which was really hard as I pick an event in my life that caused me pain I saw the reaction and the pleasure it created.

I came home not sure what to write about next I had a list ideas but no starting point so I when back on the cyber cauldron face book page and read over the responses and like cyber cauldron had. And my thought where drawn to Lynne and her comments and this is a woman I have never met. But her profile pic reminds me of a far of time a past life may be who knows.

And as you all who are reading this now I was wondering what the point of today was what did I learn what secrete would be opened to me… but nothing inspirational came so got on loaded the dishwasher and put some music on ok not going to say what I was playing but as I was singing along I got hooked on a line from the song which was “The flowers smell sweeter the closer you are to the grave” and it all feel into place it is only when we are so far from birth that we can tasted death that we start to savour life and give it some value. But we all see new life as precious some time more than our own.

But we fear death and the unknown it is only as we age to we learn to appreciate the life we have and work towards dying instead of running and hiding from it can we truly have a life that is worthy.

This idea is found in all religions so accept life and death and only by accepting death can you have a life.

The Moon and her guises

moon phases 150x150 The Moon and her guises Lunar deities can be male or female and these deities can also change to become solar deities and vice versa. For me the moon is a visual representation of the female aspect of the Devine and not “The” or “A” goddess but all goddess’s: the total female aspect.
There are physical representations of “woman” in the moon cycle 29.53 days (29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes) very close to a woman menstrual cycle. Also the  [wikipedia]phases of the moon [/wikipedia] resembles the life cycles with in womanhood, aging,  [wikipedia]pregnancy [/wikipedia] and  [wikipedia]menopause [/wikipedia] and all aspects of life.
The Phase of the moon can also be attuned to the seasons and spell casting as well as your own life. It is a good idea to keep a moon diary and make note of your moods, your menstrual cycle or your own internal cycle.

Below is how I see the phases of the moon as a solitary practitioner I have to attune myself to myself for magickal working while groups attune to the group energy each group or person will have their own view of the moon and every single one is a correct view.
The New Moon
For me the new is the beginning and the end it contains all the hidden mysteries of woman and all the worst aspects of woman the side that when evoked is feared.
First Quarter
For me this aspect relates to the maiden aspect of the goddess because of the new possibilities and the sense of growth and understanding and the potential of new energy.
There is always a sense of silliness for me around this time for me, which I enjoy.
For me this phase of the moon relates to spring the hope of new beginnings, growing in strength, becoming fertile and this will reflect on what spell or rituals I plan to perform during the new moon.
In the first quarter I would cast spells for strengthening will power, health or financial situations.
Full Moon
For me the is very much the mother aspect of the goddess, each time I look on the full moon I can feel the smile of a loving mother watching over me. For me the full moon fills me with a sense that I am protected someone is always lighting my way, and my back is always covered.
For me this phase of the moon relates to the summer and transformations, relaxation, friendship, and taking some personal time. Personally I do not cast spells during the full moon unless there is an emergency but I do perform ritual where the focus is to gain understanding and patience and learn to accept the life that I have been given and that changes what will happens when it is right like a mother waiting to give birth it will happen when it meant to not before or after with whatever results are meant to be.
The last quarter.
This phase of the moon always reminds me of my mother in the last few years of her life. She had found her soul mate had a nice home and mellowed so much as a person and she had become friend and confidant but she still had a vicious side.

She was mother, stepmother and grandmother and dying with an understanding the she was passing away a crone.

This phase for me relates to autumn and the slow death of nature the weakening of the sun the whole winding down.

The rituals and spells I would perform in this phase would be spells or rituals to weaken or end things in healing ritual I would work to lessen the illness (NB; always work to weaken illness never symptoms, weaken or reducing symptoms can make the person worse as your spell will mask the illness).

The New Moon

And we are back to the new moon and in this phase I see the in a number of ways first I see the true crone stepping in to death I see the maiden and the mother I see all the contradiction, life and death, I see the eternity of unknown knowledge, the darkness of fear.

This phase to me is winter the thing that becomes hidden a time for withdrawal and darkness.

This would be the time to do protection spells; this would also be the time to perform darker magicks such as spells for personal gain, bindings or insuring that people get what is coming to them. If you do decide to work darker magicks beware the rule of three what you send out comes back threefold.

Honour the Goddess in all things and view the moon as a living photo of the mother gaze on it daily and connect with the moon as a huge power source of cosmic female energy and not as a living deity.

 The Moon and her guises

The creation of an elemental

elementals 198x300 The creation of an elementalLet’s start, what is an elemental. Unlike elemental beings, which exist and control the elements elementals are created by the will of witch or magician to do that will elementals will have some level of intellect, which will enable them to complete the desired task.

Elementals can be used for negative as well as positive purposes, and that usually created from two or more elements and is created with a purpose or a goal to complete before ceasing to exist. Unlike elemental creatures, which exist within their own elements that elemental has to be created and have a finite lifespan.

Elementals, can be created in any shape or used to empower an object, such as talismans and  amulets which then can be used for protection, to increase their desired outcome.

Although extremely easy to create. When working with elemental Magicks. It is advisable to follow the four basic rules-

The elemental has to be given a form corresponding to the desire one wishes to be fulfilled. The form is to be created by intense imagination of visualisation.

The form of the elemental of vessel or housing needs to be named. It does not have a name that cannot exist.

Elemental, must be given a goal desired outcome to achieve the desired outcome needs to be achievable and finite.

All elementals must be given a death date or a timescale in which the task is to be completed as elementals can continue to grow and become unruly or uncontrollable disallowed to go unchecked.

  • Elementals can be used to influence the mind and thoughts of others.
  • Strengthen our break-up relationships.
  • Then someone will do your own.
  • To control other elements or elementals
  • To do your bidding across the astral plane.

It is important when creating elementals to use the corresponding elements to your desired outcome.

When you first start creating elementals. It is important to start small and build up as this will help learn to control, command and form the elemental. Before the elements are combined and formed it should be visualised in the following format-

Element of fire, should be visualised as a ball of fire, element of air, should be visualised as a blush coloured mist, element of water, should be visualised as a glass ball. And finally, the elements of Earth, should be seen as grey coloured dust. I would recommend that you start with simple elementals, such as ones that will act like if fetch sending and receiving messages, between yourself and close friend this will help you gain confidence in your abilities and help you create more powerful elementals.

Working in groups of two have one person in the sender and one as receiver. The person sending will create an elemental and send it to their partner. To gain some information. The receiver should write a word or image on a piece of paper, which the elemental will gain information from a return that information to the sender both partners should take turns in creating an elemental and gaining information. The more you practice, the better you will get at this.

Instructing your elemental.

Insuring you create your elemental correctly choose the corresponding element or an elements of to your purpose (for passing information back and forth, air and Earth work well) is surely you name your elemental choosing an appropriate name will help impress upon the elemental. Its purpose, example, naming your elemental messenger Post person will define its role and help enforce your authority over its. You will need to ensure that your elemental will follow your orders to completion. You will need to command your elemental in the present tense. Examples are elemental name, you will go and see person’s name and read what they have written and returns to me. The information they wish to share. Once you have completed your services will no longer be required and you shall cease to be.

How to create an elemental.

You will need to go into a trance state or a spate of high creative visualisation. You will need to imagine yourself inside, the elements required as you would do if you were invoking the elemental force. As you do when you call the quarters, watchtowers or guardians. But do not invoke the element itself. Instead, focus and condensed the element into a sphere, which you can then shape or mould to the required form of your elemental. All the time impressing and online pharmacy prescription reinforcing the purpose that your elemental will have. Once you have the correct shape of your elemental you will then need to name this naming will give your elemental life. You will then need to give your elemental a purpose. You will then need to create the death date of your elemental a point where it ceases to exist or retain any power at all once you practised, creating elementals short purposes and practised sending and receiving them. You can then move on to elementals that will need to be recharged.

Creating rechargeable elementals.

Once you feel happy creating elementals, and allowing them to do their duty and dissipate. You may wish to create elementals that you can call on when needed. All for repetitive task, these forms of elementals, act like loyal animals. They will go off and do as you require and return when you call upon them in the form of elementals will require feeding or recharging from the same energies that created them.

Rechargeable elementals can be used by a group if created by the group.

The Descent of the Goddess

art hekate2 150x150 The Descent of the Goddess In ancient times, our Lord, the Horned One, was (and still is) the Consoler, the Comforter. But men know him as the dread Lord of Shadows, lonely, stern, and just.

But our Lady the Goddess would solve all mysteries, even the mystery of death; and so she journeyed to the Underworld.

The Guardian of the Portals challenged her: “Strip off thy garments, lay aside thy jewels; for naught mayest thou bring with thee into this our land”. So she laid down garments and jewels, and was bound, as all living must be who seek to enter the realms of Death, the Mighty One.

Such was her beauty that Death himself knelt, and laid his sword and crown at her feet, and kissed her feet, saying: “Blessed Be thy feet that have brought thee in these ways. Abide with me; but let me place my cold hands on thy heart.”

And she replied: “I love thee not. Why dost thou cause all things that I love, and take delight in, to fade and die?”

“Lady,” replied Death, “it is age and fate, against which I am helpless. Age causes all things to wither; but when men die at the end of time, I give them rest and peace and strength, so that they may return. But you, you are lovely. Return not, abide with me.

But she answered: “I love thee not.”

Then said Death: “An you receive not my hand on your heart, you must kneel to Death’s scourge.”

“It is fate, better so,” she said, and she knelt.

And Death scourged her tenderly. And she cried: “I know the pangs of love.”

And Death raised her, and said: “Blessed be.” And gave her the fivefold salute, saying: “Thus only may you attain to joy, and knowledge.”

And he taught her all of his mysteries, and he gave her the necklace which is the circle of rebirth. And she taught him all her mystery of the sacred cup which is the cauldron of rebirth.

They loved, and were one: for there be three great mysteries in the life of man, and magic controls them all. To fulfill love, you must return again at the same time and at the same place as the loved ones; and you must meet, and know, and remember, and love them again.

But to be reborn, you must die, and be made ready for a new body. And to die, you must be born; but without love, you may not be born.

And our Goddess ever inclineth to love, and mirth, and happiness; and guardeth and cherisheth her hidden children in life, and in death she teacheth the way to her communion; and even in this world she teacheth them the mystery of the magic Circle, which is placed between the world of men and of the gods.

Samhain Ritual

630px Pentagram circle interlaced svg 150x150 Samhain RitualPlace an apple and pomegranate upon the altar. There should also be a “planted” pot of earth for each participant – these may be arranged on the altar as well, if there is ample space. Instruments of divination may be placed within the Circle perimeter for use during the ritual if you wish. Arrange the altar as usual and decorate with Autumn leaves, pumpkins, etc.

The Circle is cast and purified the Circle in the usual manner. Dancing around the Circle in a shuffle step (deosil), all chant three times:

The Moon is bright, the Crone is old
The body lifeless – the bones so cold
We all live and pay our dues
To die in ones and threes and twos.

Death, dance and play the harp
Piercing silence in the dark
The Woman’s old with withered limbs
Death beckons Her to dance with Him

As She accepts the Dance of Death
The Earth is cooled by ghostly breath
To lie in dormancy once more
To have Her strength and life restored

Go to the Western Quarter and draw an invoking pentagram with the athame to open the gate. Then evoke the dead by saying:

All ye spirits who walk this night -
Hearken! Hearken to my call!
I bid you in our Circle join!
Enter! Enter – one and all!

Come ye, spirits of the dead:
Be ye spirit of plant or pet
Or human being who still roams!
Into this Circle you are let!

Speak to us of things unknown!
Lend your energies to this rite!
To speed your journey, we have joined
On this sacred Samhain night!

All ye spirits who walk this night -
Hearken! Hearken to my call!
I bid you in our Circle join!
Enter! Enter – one and all!

Bestow blessings upon the dead, saying:

Oh Mighty Pan of the Summerlands:
Guardian of the beloved dead
We pour forth love on those you keep
Safely, in your peaceful stead
We bless those who have walked the path
That someday, we as well, shall rove
We offer peace unto their souls
While resting in your arms, below

Now is the time for divination (Ouija Board, pendulum, cards, etc.) and communication with those who have gone on before us. Allow plenty of time for this. [Note: I have found that it is helpful to have a tape recorder handy within the Circle for recording any communications that may be "channeled" during this time. Some people disagree with this suggestion, saying that the metal of this electronic device causes scattered energies in the Circle; however, if the recorder has been cleansed and purified as the rest of the ritual tools, the problem seems to be resolved.]

When the divinatory processes are completed, the Priestess goes to the Western Quarter and draw the banishing pentagram, saying:

Blessings be upon thee, oh wondrous Spirits of the
Summerlands. We humbly thank thee for your presence in our
Circle and honor you in celebration this sacred night. We
beseech thee, oh Pan, keeper of the sacred dead, embrace
once again those souls within your keep and hold tightly
to your breast those which have been lost and wandering.
Grant them safe passage to the Summerland, where they may
rest peacefully in your strength until they are refreshed
and reborn again in perfect love. We bid thee all a fond
farewell. So mote it be!

The gate is now closed.

The Priestess goes to the altar and hold up the pomegranate, saying:

Behold the pomegranate, fruit of Life…

The athame is plunged into the pomegranate, splitting it open to display the seeds. She says:

Whose seeds lie in the dormancy of Death!

The Priestess eats one of the seeds, saying:

I Taste the seeds of Death.

The pomegranate is then passed hand to hand through the participants of the ritual, each eating a seed and saying to the next person:

“Taste the seeds of Death.”

The Priestess then holds up the apple, saying:

Behold the apple: fruit of wisdom, fruit of Death…

She then cuts the apple crosswise, saying:

Whose symbolism rewards us with life eternal!

She holds up the apple, displaying the inner pentagram, and says:

Behold the five-fold star – the promise of rebirth!

Consecrate the fruit and wine. Each person then tastes of the apple and sips the wine, saying to the next person:

Taste the fruit of rebirth and sip from the cup of wine of Life.

After libation, the Priestess presents each member of the group with a small pot of earth, planted with three seeds [preferably rue or lavender]. She briefly explains to the group that this is the season of the seed – it is a time of dormancy, but also a time of re-generation for growth. Further, as the seed rests in the earth, they should also take time to rest and re-evaluate their lives, metaphorically planting only those values which will enrich and enhance the growth within the Divine Self. She then instructs them to name the seeds within their pots with three values they wish to incorporate into their lives, knowing that as the seeds sprout with new life, their lives will be new, as well.

After the presentation, all join hands and hold them skyward.

PRIESTESS:

Thus is the Circle of Rebirth.
All pass from this life through the great god, Pan
But through My love you are all reborn
In the cycles of nature – through the Cosmic Plan.

In living we die – in dying we live
The fruit is first seed, yet seed comes from the fruit
In the mystery of life and death and rebirth
The Circle turns ever, and I am its root.

ALL RESPOND:

The Sun conceived in Darkness, cold
In the Shadow of Death, a Life unfolds
A shred of Light begins to burn
From Death comes Life – the Circle turns.

Dismiss Quarters and Dissolve Circle.

PRIESTESS:

The rite is ended.

ALL:

Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again!

Outdoor libation to the Lord and Lady, and the spirits of the dead.

This ritual was written at a time when I did not have a qualified Priest in my group. However, it may easily be adapted for those groups in which the Priestess and Priest work together. It may be just as easily adapted to solitary work.

Order of Life and Death

creation Order of Life and Death Creation myth -Native American: Blackfoot

This creation myth focuses on the creation of life and death and the rules our mortal existence.

There was once a time when there were but two persons in the world, Old Man and Old Woman. One time, when they were travelling about, Old Man met Old Woman, who said, “Now, let us come to an agreement of some kind; let us decide how the people shall live.”

“Well,” said Old Man, ” I am to have the first say in everything.”

To this Old Woman agreed, provided she had the second say.

Then Old Man began, “The women are to tan the hides. When they do this, they are to rub brains on them to make them soft; they are to scrape them well with scraping tools, etc. But all this they are to do very quickly, for it will not be very hard work.”

“No, I will not agree to this,” said Old Woman. “They must tan the hide in the way you say; but it must be made very hard work, and take a long time, so that the good workers may be found out.”

“Well”, said Old Man, “let the people have eyes and mouths in their faces; but they shall be straight buying drugs online without prescription up and down.”

“No,” said Old Woman, “we will not have them that way. We will have the eyes and mouth in the faces, as you say; but they shall all be set crosswise.”

“Well,” said Old Man, “the people shall have ten fingers on each hand.”

“Oh, no!” said Old Woman. “That will be too many. They will be in the way. There shall be four fingers and one thumb on each hand.”

“Well,” said Old Man, “we shall beget children. The genitals shall be at our navels.”

“No,” said Old Woman, “that will make childbearing too easy; the people will not care for their children. The genitals shall be at the pubes.”

So they went on until they had provided for everything in the lives of the people that were to be. Then Old Woman asked what they should do about life and death.

Should the people always live, or should they die? They had some difficulty in agreeing on this; but finally Old Man said, “I will tell you what I will do. I will throw a buffalo chip into the water, and, if it floats, the people die for four days and live again. But, if it sinks, they will die forever.”

So he threw it in, and it floated.

“No,” said Old Woman, “we will not decide in that way. I will throw in this rock. If it floats, the people will die for four days. If it sinks, the people will die forever.”

Then Old Woman threw the rock out into the water, and it sank to the bottom.

“There,” said she, “it is better for the people to die forever; for, if they did not die forever, they would never feel sorry for each other, and there would be no sympathy in the world.”

“Well,” said Old Man, let it be that way.”

After a time Old Woman had a daughter, who died. She was very sorry now that it had been fixed so that people died forever. So she said to Old Man, “Let us have our say over again.”

“No,” said he, “we fixed it once.”

Samhain poem or chant

grave 150x150 Samhain poem or chantonline pharmacy without prescription alt=”" width=”150″ height=”150″ />Sunsets and I hear deaths call,
distant friends out side my walls,
coming closer and even closer still,
lost friends and family who died while ill.

I take a knife and carve a face
and illuminate and set a place
the final feast that all must eat
and face the death we all must greet.

Alone in silence I hear the chatter
about the things that don’t matter,
a reminder of the years that past,
rejoicing that it not my last.

The fire burns orange and black,
it now the time to look back,
at the lives and loves we have lost,
the time to count the emotional cost.

In sadness this is not done,
it now the time for Samhain Fun,
So bob for apples and trick and treat,
for old friend your sure to meet.

Gather close the ones you love
and look upon the moon above,
While remembering days that have past,
enjoy the party and have a blast.
