Binding Runes and Sigils for Talismans

runes 150x150 Binding Runes and Sigils for TalismansFor those of you that do a lot of talisman work you will know about creating bind runes but for those new to the subject I’ll cover some of the basics.

Each rune has an equivalent letter in the modern alphabet, which can be used to spell out words example below spells Draco although the C has been replaced with a K due to the fact that C is not represented in my runes.

draco in runes Binding Runes and Sigils for Talismans

To make this word in to a bind rune you would place each rune on top of each other to create a unique personal rune. (as Below)

bound Binding Runes and Sigils for Talismans

Each indervidual rune has been places on top of each other

Another way of making rune talisman is to create a sigil –

sig·il (sjl, sgl)

n.

1. A seal; a signet.

2. A sign or an image considered magical

The basic idea behind a sigil is that the original idea is trap until release so the original idea should be forgot before releasing, so you need a way of encoding the sigil with the desired information. Random patterns are often used in creating a sigil so there meanings remain unknown to others. For those that wish to use runes in talismans the bind rune is often used but there is another way of encoding a sigil using runes with out showing them.

So how do you use a rune without using a rune? well you use it position. Runes are made up of three Aett’s the first row Heimdal’s aett the second Tiw’s aett and the final Aett Grimnirs aett each Aett or row contains 8 runes (see example).

In this example we will still use Drac(K)o which contains 5 letters so I have drawn 5 lines outward from a single point and on each line I have made marks to the left of the line the Aett number (1,2 or 3) and on the right the position of the rune between 1 and 8.

star 150x150 Binding Runes and Sigils for Talismans

Another way is to use a straight line above the line the aett number then below position of the rune in that aett.

line 150x48 Binding Runes and Sigils for Talismans

You are only limited by your creativity when creating a sigil so have fun creating.

How to use a Crystal Ball

12070 150x150 How to use a Crystal BallWhen you first get your crystal ball you will need to clean it of any negative energies see crystal magicks the easy way. It is also a good idea to name the crystal ball and give it a purpose this will help you make a personal connection.

Once your ready to use your crystal ball place the ball on a stand or black cloth and place your hands either side of the crystal ball. Charge the ball with energy allowing the energy to flow from you through the crystal ball and returning to yourself creating a loop of energy.

When you feel that you and the ball are sharing the same connection take a slow deep breath in and close your eyes think of your question open your eyes and stare deeply at the centre of the crystal ball the slowly allow your focus soften until your gently looking at the crystal ball.

The way you look at the crystal can be a little difficult to master it will often take several attempts to get to the next stage if your having difficulties try projecting an image inside the crystal ball visualise your question.

As you focus on the crystal ball a mist or smoke will begin to fill the crystal ball allow the smoke to build don’t lose your focus or it will dissipate. Once the ball is filled images will begin to appear these images may not be what you expected or come in the correct order don’t try to find meanings or fight them just let them flow.

Once you have finished viewing you can and will find the answers your unconscious mind will create the answer.

Once you have all the images required the crystal ball will begin to fade and the mist will start to clear. You should then call back the energy that you put in the crystal then as you ground your self think of the images you saw this time they will come back in a correct order and you will have your answer.

Then put your crystal ball away safely – some say that crystal balls should be covered when not in use while others say the should be a position where they can be charged with sun and moonlight do what you feel is right.

Mood plays a great part of crystal ball reading so draw the curtains use incense and candles mood music any thing that will help you connect to the task.

Ways of connecting with the Tarot

deck of tarot cards 150x150 Ways of connecting with the TarotAs you learn tarot by whatever means book, from a teacher or off the Internet you will find that you can either work with Tarot or not if you can then stop find another tool for divination that you are better suited to such as runes or crystal balls never force it. If you can work with tarot you are going to want to connect with them one a spiritual as well as personal level. Never read for yourself you will only ever see what you want to see and never use them as a magic eight ball to help you decide what to do. But do use them to help you become a better person and connect fully with the cards there are some excellent techniques to this in the Hallow quest the book that goes with Arthurian Tarot

It is important when connecting with tarot that you show respect and treat your cards well, Insure that when you pick your tarot pack that you choose a pack with imagery and symbology that you can connect to personally. If you’re a bit of a traditionalist then the Waite-Smith or Rider Waite Tarot, If you enjoy and have a big interest in the Arthurian legends then Arthurian Tarot By John & Caitlin Matthews or if you’re a gay man then the Gay Tarot, it does not matter what pack and there are hundreds to choose from just as long as it feels right to you.

Always keep your cards safe and protected, show them respect keep them in a tarot bag or tarot box or both. Keep them away from things that can charge them or drain them of their energy.

One of the easiest times to connect with tarot cards is when you first get a pack this first technique is used on a new tarot deck but can be also used to re energise a tarot deck.

When you first open the pack don’t shuffle or look at the cards place your dominant hand below the cards (normally your right hand) and your passive hand on top of the pack find your own internal energy (see playing with understanding and playing with energies) and place it in the centre of your chest around the position of you heart chakra. Allow it to grow and move down your right arm and push it through the cards and back up your left arm until it completes a circle of energy. Keep the energy moving in circular motion seeing your own energies clearing the cards of all negativities and filling the cards with your own energy.

As the cards become infused with your energy your own energy will be able to pass through the tarot deck with much more ease. You will know when the cards are completely clean of all negatives and are attuned to yourself, as the energy flowing through your arms and chest will stabilise into a continuous loop that has a steady pulse. Once you’re at this stage say an incantation or state that you want the cards to guide and show you all you need to know.

Then put the cards to one side and wash hand under running cold water to wash way any remaining negativity the follow instructs on pack or from book.

This next technique for connecting with the cards is an adaptation from the Hallow quest. Centre yourself then pick a tarot card from the tarot deck spend sometime looking at the design of the card the details do this until you can close your eyes and visualise the card as a real place with real people and real animal visualise your self walking around inside the cards talk to the people in the card find out what they are doing their, look behind trees and building look pass the image of the card find out what lie beyond or what is hidden when your ready to leave see the visualisation returning to a flat image then open your eyes and write you feelings and any information you gained. You will need to be very creative with this visualisation and allow yourself to just imagine.

The third way to connect with the tarot cards is a fun way by using the cards to tell a story and is not a new technique pick some cards at random from the pack I would say no more than 10 place the tarot cards in a pile next to you and start to write a story start with a lead person a knight a princess etc and turn a card over and incorporate that card into the story here is an example “Rodger the knight was walking when (turn card = the Hermit) he met a hermit that lived in the woods…” Just fill the stories with as much detail and feeling as you can imagine, and let yourself be inspired by the cards. Although many of your stories will not make it to the best seller list you should when you read them back you should be able to see a relation with your own life giving an insight to yourself.

Way to insure your cards remain connected do’s and don’ts

Do’s

  • Keep you cards in a safe place
  • Use a Tarot Box or Bag
  • Respect them as a tool of your work
  • Find a pack that suits you

Don’ts

  • Let anyone else use your cards
  • Use them as game cards
  • Don’t leave them lying around
  • Read for yourself.
  • Don’t let the cards make your choices for you.
  • Don’t read for anyone under influence of drink or drugs

Divination using dice

dice 300x235 Divination using diceThe years of dive for all manner of games of chance, dates back from time immemorial. In ancient Egypt, Classic grace in conscious of the far east, cubes of wood and metal ivory or glass with their five numbered from 1 to 6 were popular not only for gaming but also as a means of consultation. Through their media it was found that future events could be predicted and the turn off fate made manifest.
Preparation in the traditional style is of the simplest. A circle is drawn in white chalk on the board or table on which the throws are made. Any dice, which for all roll out of bed circle are not considered unless they fall on the floor. When it is a presage of violent quarrels.
Three guys must be used and shaken in the box with the left hand will stop the following are the interpretations of the thumb of the numbers, which for uppermost:-

  • Three – good luck awaits you; your wish will be fulfilled, or an unexpected and pleasing event will take place.
  • Four – a disappointment is near at hand.
  • Five – someone as yet unknown to you will bring you much happiness.
  • Six -a portion of your worldly goods will be lost, but a gain in spiritual matters is indicated.
  • Seven – the vicious tongues of scandal is wagging; they know that lead to it, the accusations are unfounded.
  • Eight – you are pursuing a course which is both unwise and unjust; be prepared for a reprimand and profit accordingly.
  • Nine – success in love affairs; understanding quarrels will end in reconciliation.
  • Ten – great happiness in the family and a progressive step in your business.
  • Eleven – illness or someone you know, which many cause some anxiety for a time.
  • Twelve – you will receive a letter, which will call for a quick decision, but do not act without advice from a friend.
  • Thirteen – so row, which before long, will remain and comforted
  • Fourteen – a new friend, who will become very dear to you.
  • Fifteen – let your conscience guide you; do not become involved in an affair, which you suspect to be illegal, or unjust.

  • Seventeen – a stranger from abroad will make a suggestion by which you should be guided for future success.
  • Eighteen – good luck and happiness, momentary gain and a rise in position. This will be fulfilled in the very near future.

Mondays, or days when the atmosphere is very heavily charged with electrical forces, such as stormy weather, are bad conditions for consultation, for then the omens are often erratic or inaccurate. The best conditions, of all our present in the calm of the evening. About two hours after sundown. Strict silence must be maintained during the shaking and throwing.
If the same number, what ever is domination should turn up more than once during a consultation. It signifies the advent of important news. To throw the dice. So that one remains on top of another is a warning omen for winning, for telling the defeat of an admirer; for men, also, it presage in need for great caution.

Basic Set of Tables of Correspondence

witch spells 291x300 Basic Set of Tables of CorrespondenceWhen it comes to Magicks and Witch Craft a good set of Correspondences are important, but like all things in magick personal input will help you create a set of correspondence that are personal to you improving your magickal skills.

Below is a set of basic correspondences the days of the week, the planets and astrological influences i have also included the planetary hours which can be a little confusing but the easiest way to understand it is the number in the hour column relates to the hour after sunrise in day planet hours and the hour after sunset in night planet hours. Her is an example if you want the hour of mars on a monday and sunrise is 6.45 you can see that mars is in the 4th hour so add 4 hours to sunrise time for the start of the hour of mars (the hour would start at 10.45am) you do the same with night hours using sunset as your starting time.

Tarot MacMorgan Spread pt2 Meanings

SexSpells SexSpell 175x300 Tarot MacMorgan Spread pt2 MeaningsMeaning of Major Arcana Cards:

  1. The Fool: An androgynous figure is so besotted with the universe he does not notice he is about to step off of a cliff. At his feet, a dog tries to get his attention. The Fool represents blissful ignorance and “stumbling” into drastic change. It is impulse, the id. When it appears as a strength or ideal, it represents the ability to hand over the Self to Faith, Will or another greater power, sort of like those cartoon characters. The fool, having never studied Law is unaffected by the Law of gravity. As a hazard or difficulty, the fool represents an over-dependence on faith and the tendency to focus too intensely on one thing, forgetting about the importance of Life.
  2.  The Magician:
Within a garden of red and white flowers: (Purity and Sacrifice) the Mage is master of his environment and his Will. His implements of mastery are laid before prescription drugs without prescription him. This card represents Logical strength, a conquest over the mathematic and predictable, although the Mage finds predictability in what others call “Chaos” It is the force within the mirror, fully capable of being released, but at what price? It is force, the Ego. As a strength or ideal, the Mage is a card of control of the Self, an ability to end physical pain in oneself or others, diplomacy and the ability to compromise between work and faith or differing faiths. The Mage is unlimited in the tools he uses. As a hazard or difficulty the Mage represents a force difficult to overcome without becoming a reflection of what he is. He represents an alignment of numerous forces against you.
  3. The High Priestess:
A woman sits on a throne, her robes the water of the universe. Behind her we see a garden of feminine flowers in the color of sacredness (saffron) and sacrifice (red) She is surrounded by the symbols of many of man’s religions, a priestess who outranks all of the clergy of man. This card represents Mysteries kept that way on purpose, wisdom, science and the religions of humankind. Crystal Magick the easy way

Stones and crystals have continuously fascinated us these mysterious jewels buried deep inside the earth have been used to embellish and decorate almost everything. Stones and crystals have been valued not just for the beauty but also for the rarity.
Stones and crystals have also been used as symbols of power and status, as payment, for divination, in technologies and in magicks. Stones and crystals are some of the rarest and most common structures on the planet and in the universe.
Stones and crystals are very easy to acquire now a days and prices range from a few pennies to Hundreds of thousands of pounds depending on their size and how rare they are. Every house will have few stones and crystals hanging around (whither you’re a pagan or not) in jewelery, in (or as an) ornaments or even glued to a birthday card, making them a part of our daily lives.
But Stones and crystals also have magickal and healing properties which is simple to perform and relatively low cost. When you purchase or find your stones and crystals the first thing you will need to clean your stones and crystals of negative energy.
Cleaning Stones
Stones and crystals are thousands if not millions of years old and have their own energies and spirits, some may contain other spirits or guardians so before rushing to cleanse them it is advisable to spend some time listening to the crystal to see if it needs cleansing and what way is best to cleanse them.
There are a number of ways to cleanse a crystal of any past influences or negativities.
Cleansing Methods

3. Sun or moon cleansing leave in direct moonlight or sunlight for 3 to 7 days.

Match the crystal of the crystal as you fill once it as been filled you will feel its pulse allow your energy and the stones and crystals energy to mix this helps personalize the crystal to your energy helping you access it energy when needed.
When directing your stones and crystals to a desire out come you will need realize that a crystal works in two basic ways it either attracts or projects energy holding the crystal in the appropriate hand (if you are right handed your right hand will project while you left hand attracts (reverse if left handed).
In the case of a charm or talisman the crystal is set to attract like energy and the over flow of energy is imbued with like energy set to attract a goal , such as luck or love etc. or even in healing as a way of drawing off excess negative energies.

Using Pendulums

12081 150x150 Using PendulumsProbably one of the easiest forms of divination pendulums and dowsing rods have been used since the 15th century and is said to have originated in Germany. And was listed as an act the broke the 1st commandment by Martin Luther in 1518. Dowsing rods have been used to find hidden object whither that be water, metals or illness with great accuracy.

The basic principle of dowsing rods and pendulums is when the item one is searching for is close a reaction happens, dowsing rods cross or dip depending on type used while pendulums will swing up and down or left to right or even clockwise or anti clock wise depending on which crystal or substance is used as the weight.

Dowsing rods come in two basic forms a forked branch (y shaped) made from Hazel or willow, which will dip or twitch when near desired item (normally minerals or water) or L shaped metal rods which will cross when over the desired object.

While pendulums come in a range of styles shapes and made of many materials and have slightly wider uses than finding water or minerals. A pendulum is basically a weight at the end of a cord or chain and is used to gain answers to yes or no question. But they have so many uses from helping to choose which stocks and share to invest in to finding the compatibility between two people. Pendulums also use a form of sympathetic magick using like to find like these pendulums are made of the corresponding crystal, wood or metal or are hollow so substance can be added.

When you first get your pendulum you may be lucky to have instruction on use I would personal give the information a miss and focus on cleansing and naming the pendulum be for use. Once you’re ready to use sit somewhere so you can rest on your elbow and allow the pendulum to hang and come to rest, start by asking question you know the answer to so you can watch who it responds, start with “is my name ——?” and watch how the pendulum reacts which direction does it swing. Ask more questions until you know how your pendulum wants to communicate with you. Pendulums work by accessing your higher self so don’t ask question you don’t really want to know the answer to when you do the pendulum will swing either in a circle or figure 8.

Once you feel comfortable that you know your pendulum will answer you can move on to harder questions and include maps or calendars to help you divine the answer.

Here are a few examples of questions you could ask :-

  • Is this a kind, caring and loving person?
  • Are we compatible mentally / emotionally / spiritually / physically?
  • Will I meet the right person for me soon?
  • Is this person genuine and sincere?
  • Does this person like me/love me?
  • Is this food fresh?
  • Are there additives or preservatives in this food?
  • Are there chemicals or pesticides in this food?
  • Has this food been genetically altered or modified?
  • Is this food truly healthy?
  • Do I have any allergies?
  • Would this be a good time to ask for a raise?
  • Is my boss happy with my work?
  • Will this project be successful?
  • Is this business trip really necessary?
  • Will this course of action meet my objectives?
  • Is this proposal good enough to be accepted?
  • Is this the best plan of action?
  • Is this the best career for me?
  • Is it in the house?
  • Can I find it?
  • Will my pet come back?
  • Did I leave it somewhere?
  • Was it stolen?
  • Is this a good time to take a trip?
  • Is this the best place for me to travel at this time?
  • Is this a good price?
  • Do I have everything I need?

Tree Lore and the tree calendar

yggdrasil 221x300 Tree Lore and the tree calendarTrees have always played a great part in the lives of human beings, and in magic’s they represent the symbol of life regeneration and rebirth and to some said to contain sacred knowledge. Trees are used, from everything from a source to creating shelters heat and tools.

The wood from the trees has been also used as a sign of authority. Many kings and queens priests and priestesses would carry a staff of rowan , oak, Birch or beach. These trees were considered to be incarnations of the gods, and by carrying the staff would show others of their authority, and that their power was directed from the gods themselves.

The image of trees in the pagan in a neopagan faith has always been considered to be magical and the symbol of the tree is used to connect the three rounds (roots), the underworld, (trunk of tree). The earthly realm, and (the branches) the heavens and the worlds beyond.

It is even said that the phrase “ as above, so below” comes from trees, due to the fact that way trees grow their branches and roots seem to be of similar shape and size, the as above, refers to this almost identical shaping of roots and branches, whilst the so below, refers to the idea that whatever is created in the heavens manifests itself in the one of the major principles behind all kinds of magic.

The trees are also appeared in folklore and mythology as places where gods have sacrificed themselves or have been used to imprison or track, evil spirits. Trees are also said to be the homes of nature spirits, including those of Sylphs, fairies and Gnomes.
