The Elements Earth

Alchemy_earth Alchemy_earth

We have four base elements earth air fire and water in magicks it is desired to bring the elements into balance but each element has it own individual magicks attached so it always advisable to become familiar with elemental magicks. Elemental magicks are untameable and do not require any skills or knowledge to perform, but knowledge is required to prevent accidents. With Earth we have direct each and every day we walk on earth eat plants from the earth animals that have feed on the earth but we really realise that the connect we have with earth and often pay little attention to it in our daily life we all might work hard to save the planet but that not connecting to it we distance ourselves from earth becoming care takers rather than living in unity with it. Earth comes in many forms the mountains, metals, crystals the stars and planets it is the stabilising factor that supports life as well as forming it. Our bones are the earth and so our connection is also a personal one. The focus of Earth is to bring stability and balance and structure to our lives and our environment. For those living a magickal life must understand that on the surface earth is a solid hard substance that changes in time and this change comes as a result of the other elements both spiritually and practically it is easier to see the beauty of the earth than it is to connect to it. Earth is the arena where

Paganism in the schools

paganbarbi paganbarbi

As I do every morning I wrack my brains for something to write about, sometime it easy and other times it hard. As I was flicking through my notes, Books of shadows and book on Wiccan and other pagan paths nothing came to mind until I looked back at a issues of a magazine I used to produce for one of my groups which had more humour than wisdom which is what we all need some times. I came across A letter from a teacher to pagan parents which got me thinking about children and paganism I will admit that I am the least qualified to talk on this subject one because I do not have any children of my own and I feel it would be wrong of me to suggest others should bring up their children. I know that many pagan groups have rules about children at rituals. Some groups believe that children should not be involved, some believe that children should be partially involved and others believe that children should be involved. I can understand why many pagans are fearful of involving children in their ritual. The idea of witchcraft still conjures the idea of devil worship and Satanism, among many professional people for example Child services. The biggest problem we have as a community is lack of education. Although this has got better over the years. How many children come home to their parents and say, we learned about paganism and Wicca at school today. Not very many I think. As

A Letter From A Teacher Sent To Pagan Parents

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, I write this letter in concern of your daughter, Aradia Moon. Please don’t take this the wrong way, however, although she is a straight A student and a very bright child, she has some strange habits that I feel we should address. Every morning before class, she insists on walking around the room with her pencil in the air. She says she is “drawing down the moon.” I told her art class is in an hour and to please refrain until then to do any drawing. And speaking of art class, whenever she draws a night sky, she insists on drawing little circles around all the stars and people dancing on the ground. And that brings up dancing, I had to stop her twice for taking off her clothes during a game of Ring Around the Rosey! By the way, what does “skyclad” mean? Aradia has no problem with making friends. I always find her sitting outside during recess with her friends sitting around her in a circle. She likes to share her juice and cookies. It is nice how she wants no one to ever thirst or hunger. However, when I walked over to see what they were doing, she jumped up and told me to stop, pulled out a little plastic knife and started waiving it in front of me. I thought this a bit dangerous, so I took her to the Principal’s Office. She explained to the Principal that she was “opening the circle” to let me

All initiations, previous experience and group affiliations to be made known to your students. Before beginning training tell your student you don’t know everything about the subject, but are willing to refer them on to another person if you don’t have the personal expertise. Tell your student of your personal beliefs, teaching what you know but also emphasising Paganism is about personal spirituality and that they must find their own truth. Students should be of legal age (i.e. 18) or have parental permission. This does not exclude passing on basic information of religious beliefs to minors. All theoretical information should be supported by ritual demonstration. All lessons must be prepared by reading up on the area to be taught about, decide how you’re going to present this information for the easiest understanding of the individual student and make notes to be given to the student. There is to be a nominal fee for teaching to cover ritual supplies and fluctuates depending on the student. It is at the discretion of the teacher if they choose to loan books or give supplies from their personal collection. All teachers must continue their own education also. It is impossible to know everything. Do not proselytise. All students must seek out their teacher. You do not take on more than 4 students at a time per mentor. Students can be taught on an individual basis or in a teaching circle. Students should be told if the training would not lead to initiation. You respect the confidentiality of your own

Title: pack monday fair Location: Sherborne, Dorset Link out: Click here Description: October 10 is Old Michaelmas Day, and Michaelmas is the feast of St Michael the Archangel, and associated with the beginning of autumn. Street market dating back to medieval times, held annually in Sherborne on the first Monday after 10th October – old Michaelmas Day. Although no longer an agricultural fair, it is still a major event in Sherborne with four of the town’s main streets becoming full of street traders and food stalls for the day, and a funfair is usually held on the edge of town on the Monday and the days preceding it. Pack Monday always begins with a midnight procession through the streets of Sherborne by ‘Teddy Roe’s Band’, a group of locals making as much noise as possible by blowing horns and whistles. The fair has been taking place for hundreds of years. The true origins are lost, replaced by theories and opinions. who’s to say which one is correct? Some accounts say 700 years, saying its origins were an agricultural fair, and gaining its name from a corruption of the word ‘pact’ as this was the time of year that the new agreements were made between farmers and labourers taken on for casual work. Others say it dates from a celebration to mark the completion of building of Sherborne Abbey back in 1490…some say that in the 15th Century fire severely damaged the abbey, and workmen, under foreman called Teddy Roe, carried out repairs. When work had
