Where Magick come to life

A theory Karma and Science

karma 150x1502 A theory Karma and ScienceKarma as permeated it self in today modern society and in neo paganism as the idea that our actions have results positive and negative allowing us to receive reward or punishment depending on the out come of our actions but karma is much more than that.

Karma is not a faith it is a concept an ideal from India it is based on the idea that we are eternal souls seeking perfection and understanding so we can in a sense ascend to a higher stage spiritually.

Unlike some beliefs where you born then die and are judge on your actions either receiving paradise or pain. Karma allows you to experience many lives and experiences clocking up negative and positive points along the way.

I was once taught that only when we leave this physical form, we regain all the information we have gained over our many life’s and we view our actions and choose to return (be reborn) to balance our good and bad deeds, we choose the family we are born into, the area and circumstances we belief that will be conducive to help us undo the negative Karma we collected in our last life(s) and once we become physical again through birth we lose all knowledge of why we are here what we came to learn and as humans we blunder through this life making more mistakes adding more bad karma to our souls.

Through meditation and spiritual practice we can access our higher self and seek guidance from within about what choice and action we should be making but we are required to make the choices that face us.

This Concept of karma has always fascinated me and although not a scientist I have always been interested in science and physics and in how things work. Could explain why I am solitary and eclectic I like to experiment.

The idea of science and religion working together has always been a difficult one for some religions as they see it as a way of unmaking their god and truth is if science continues it will be the undoing for some major religions.

I personally believe that the pagan and neo pagan belief system will continue as at the heart of our belief is energies and we even accept that our deities are embodiments of ideals and manifest in energy and we accept that our deities are part of something bigger something beyond our understanding at present.

We are a part of the universe and the universe is part of us the micro verse and macro verse. Science has proved that energies exist and is finding new ones as we continue there are even particles that will behave the way you expect them to if they are being observed begging the question what are they doing when not being watched? Science has proved that life is energy and when that life end the energy stops to (or changes). Science has told us we are made of carbon and that a carbon atom has a half-life of 5,730 years ± 40 years.

So with the basic facts science has taught us we know we are energy, we know we are made from an atom that can be 5730 years old and there are particles that we will never know what they are truly doing because the moment we watch they do what we hope they will do.

The idea of this eternal learning this constant striving to become perfect through experience seem sensible, in this life we have regrets or missed opportunities what if we had to live every choice and it out come Well science has a theory for that it believes that the are millions of universes existing in multiple dimensions at the same time all based on different variation through minor changes.

What if Karma existed within the rules of science well you would experience the same life millions of time with only minor differences from each other in one life you turn left, in another you turn right, so in this theory your higher self is in all place and in all times, now that sounds like the role of a god (the idea that we are all our own god and goddess is nothing new to pagans). It only when our energy ends can we return to the whole, here is where it can get difficult! when does our energy end is it when the shell stop working? when we are lo longer remembered? when the last of our carbon atoms give up? well I don’t know I would like to believe that it our need to change that directs  us to experience new things and new lives.

The biggest problem with ideals is they are open to interpretation and own values I see myself as a person who has a library (although i dont a have the keys to unlock it yet) of knowledge that has 5730 years of knowledge and experience that hold the information of past and future lives in every carbon atom in my being and the atoms are shared with every one on the planet since we all share the same thing we are all the same, I know that this physical body one day will cease working and will be burnt or buried releasing more of my atoms I know my energy will transform to what I don’t know and don’t care that for then not now.

The second part of Karma is the clocking up of positive and negative Karma well this is basic hermitic principles of cause and effect every action has an equal and opposite reaction sometime these happen quickly instant Karma or without you noticing or even after many years the effects of you actions will catch up to you. Well is we take the scientific approach and think of the multi-verse and that we are in all place at all times it could explain why some people have such bad luck their action in other dimension echo through to this one causing bad karma for this existence. The same way bad people seem to be so lucky it just a way of the universes keeping in balance.

This is how i see karma a spiritual ideal which can be reinforced with science the problem with science and belief is understanding your understanding and theirs most times they dont match anyway it my theory it how i make sence of it.

A Circle for Catharsis

binding love spell 150x150 A Circle for CatharsisIntroduction:

One of my near and dear once spent an hour in a therapist’s office kicking an innocent throw pillow around the room and screaming out rage at his abusive father. At the end of the hour, he had a broken foot — and the first beginnings of a healed mind.

But we have learned that magic works through symbols. Calling an object by your abuser’s name and then abusing that object is sympathetic magic used for the purpose of cursing. To throw a curse is to project one’s worst feelings out into the world of form, and to invoke upon oneself the inevitable karmic feedback.

It is not our way to blast the crops and sour the milk. Wiccan tradition and plain common sense both tell us to avoid the practice of baneful magic. But, as usual, it’s not quite as easy as just saying no.

Rape and child abuse, loved ones killed by muggers or drunk drivers, emotional manipulation and betrayal, economic exploitation and dishonest office politics — people hurt and victimize other people in many different ways every day. We are not immune.

At some point in our lives, probably every single one of us will feel violated by some other human being. Often our feelings will be based in fact. Whether they are or not, however, we need and deserve a safe way to discharge them.

Symbolic baneful actions are also cathartic actions. They drain and clear our poisonous feelings and allow our own emotional healing to begin. If we deny ourselves this outlet, what happens to the grief and pain and rage?

If projection is bad for us, introjection is even worse. Unreleased bad feelings are a major source of stress. In a very real sense, stress cripples and kills. Ulcers, strokes, heart attacks and more are all heavily stress-related. A simple refusal to engage in baneful magic could easily amount to punishing a victim by adding serious illness to the original harm.

I am part of the All. “An it harm none” is about me too. Release of my feelings is my right.

At first it seems like an insoluble paradox. But the same understanding of magic that forbids projection of our bad feelings can open a safe channel for those feelings. Here’s one possible form:

Preparation:

  1. Understanding

Think about the Alcoholics Anonymous prayer. “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can change, and the wisdom to know the difference.” People of any religion can recognize the wisdom in those words. This ritual is intended to ease emotional pressure. I believe that is a step towards granting all three of those things to ourselves.

If your hurt is ongoing, you must take steps to stop it — leave the abusive relationship, begin searching for a new job, begin organizing politically to stop your oppression. What good this Circle does you will be temporary at best if you are not acting on both the magical and material planes to change the things you can change.

But some of our pain comes from old, old injuries. And some of our feelings are not based on fact at all. The source of those hurts cannot be changed, but the pain can be. This particular working is to release any bad feelings, not to judge them.

Don’t worry about justice. You may be mistaken about who has hurt you, but nobody will be hurt by what we do here. All energy will be contained within the Circle. The object of this working is healing, not justice. You deserve this healing simply because you hurt, and even if you are mistaken.

Prevention and healing are human tasks; to do them is to change the things we can change. Justice — the evening of karmic balances — is the business of the Gods, and may take place across a span of many lifetimes. Karmic balance is a thing we cannot change.

  2. Set Up

You have some decisions to make. The first one is whether you will work alone or ask one or more trusted friends to witness and facilitate your working. Some of us can only let our feelings go in strict privacy. For others, the presence of people who will make sure we don’t hurt ourselves or our homes removes a source of inhibition. And sometimes simply being heard is part of the release process.

Next, exactly what kind of symbolic action will release your feelings? Will kicking a throw pillow suffice, or do you need to actually make a poppet? Or just screaming may be enough. If you want to work with a physical symbol, prepare it in advance, and be sure not to use anything you will want to keep after the rite or ever use again.

Figure out whether you can either cast a Circle to include your bathroom, or leave a cast Circle for a period of time. This will depend on your particular training. If possible, have a warm, scented tub waiting for you. If not, a basin of warm, scented water and a washcloth within easy reach just outside of your Circle will suffice. Also, a ritual meal should be prepared and waiting outside of Circle, and this should include something green and growing — I favor sprouts — and something sweet.

Procedure:

  1. Waning moon is a good time for this Circle, and the Dark of the Moon is even better. Cast the Circle and invoke the Watchers in your usual manner. Call on the Crone, on She who weeds and prunes and disposes of the obstructive and unnecessary.
  2. Just inside the Circle, like the membrane in an eggshell, cast a grounding shield. One possible image for this shield would be a black absorptive chain link fence, supported at regular intervals by fence posts that are lightning rods. Whatever happens within this space will be contained and grounded.
  3. Make clear to yourself what wound you seek to drain. Say it out loud, even if you are alone. Recall what happened to you in detail and let the feelings grow strong.
  4. Now, let go of your feelings. Do whatever will help you release what is in you. Beat on a pillow or rip up a doll. Scream till you cry. Don’t stop till you are emptied. Then fling the thing you used as a symbol out of your Circle.
  5. When you are sure you are all done, all drained, contract the shield into a tight ball in the center of the Circle. As it contracts, it will gather all the negative energy from the Circle. Ground it. Affirm that you are sending this energy to the fire at the heart of the Earth — to Jarnsaxe or to Pele — to be purified in that blast furnace and cycled to wherever strong energy is needed. Know that what you now let go is gone. Affirm this out loud.
  6. Wash or bathe in a ritual manner, feeling the last traces of your bad feelings dissolve away. If others are present, allow them to wash and serve you.
  7. Rest a few minutes. Feel the peace of emptiness.
  8. Then invoke the Maiden’s energy for new beginnings. Have your ritual feast and otherwise indulge your senses. Gentle and joyful music would be effective, and you may want to switch to a sweeter-smelling incense. This is a time to dream dreams and plan plans. You have removed an energy drain from your life, now you will be able to … ?
  9. Thank and dismiss whatever Beings you have called on, throughout the whole ritual. Close your Circle as usual. Do not do any other kinds of working or worship within this particular Circle.

Follow Through:

The final part of any effective magical working is “acting in accordance” on the material plane. By doing this, we give the magic a channel through which to manifest. For this working, there are three forms of follow through, and all are important.

  1. Remember that painful feelings are partly habitual. Acting in accordance with magic to banish such feelings requires you to stop feeding the habit. Don’t talk about the pain with anybody until at least the second full moon after the working. This gives the habit a chance to fade out. As much as you can, eliminate the topic from your internal dialogue as well. When you notice yourself dwelling on the old pain, gently and firmly change the subject.
  2. Thinking about action to change your life in the here and now is perfectly OK. The problem is reiteration of old feelings of frustration and helplessness that actually impede change.
  3. If the hurtful situation is current and ongoing, continue with any steps you were taking to change the things you can change. In fact, you will probably find you have more energy than you did before to devote to your projects.
  4. Be sure to use some of your newly freed emotional energy to reward yourself. Take time for friendship, love, and pleasure. The object of the exercise is to clear space for the enjoyment of life, so start right now.

Balancing the roles of a pagan

OFFERING 150x150 Balancing the roles of a paganAs Pagans we have three roles in our life, these roles Farmer, Warrior and Priest and it does not matter what path you follow these roles exist (although may have different names). In many pagan paths three is an important number, the triple goddess, the three worlds (heaven , Earth and underworld), the three fold law, Birth / rebirth life and death and many others.

So why is it the three role of a pagan are not often mentioned??? I think basically because in most cases the get mixed in and blended into the views buy drugs online without prescription and practices or particular paths – I know of a few paths that put some emphasis on the roles of a pagan.

The roles themselves are like the goddess or god separate but part of the whole a pagan may spend their whole life dedicated to the role they have chosen and not achieve the balance they require as they neglect the two other role.

Now each or the roles can be worked through like stages but ideally after time each role should become part of pagan and daily life.

The Farmer

The farmer role is about hard work and reward financially and spiritually it is often the biggest role we have in our daily lives, we like a farmer plant our seeds what them grow or fail we care for the land we live on even if it just the few square feet of our homes. The idea behind the farmer is about receiving rewards through hard work, now many of us like our jobs but just as many don’t as farmers we must take pride in our work if a farmer does not take pride in his field or life stock they will become full of weeds and pests until it becomes to much to handle causing things to die and wither. If we are in unsatisfying jobs we will face our own weeds and pests which each and everyday get bigger and stronger until we become consumed our life are spent seeking thrills to balance the drab life as the farmer.

The warrior

The warrior is a defender of values, a knight in shining armour; these are the thinks we will fight for our beliefs or convictions. The warrior is bound in honour and act in defence and with out aggression. The warrior will stand and die for what he / she believes is correct. The warrior is within us all, the mother who protect her children, the husband who defends the virtue of his wife, The person who stands up and say that must stop, The person who believes that they are right and will not back down. To be a warrior you will need to know how to defend yourself become skilled in weaponry and mental disciplines. Today to be a good warrior you need to be able to use your voice and intellect not guns or knives or even fists you aim, as a warrior is to be a knight in shining armour and not a tosser in tinfoil.

But there are times when as a warrior where you could face death for your beliefs and if your beliefs are strong enough you will be happy to die for them although in this modern day an age it is rare to a spiritual warrior dieing for the beliefs although you have plenty of warriors dieing for others belief as a spiritual warrior you must be sure of your convictions and insure that your actions pure if your gonna die for something be sure it what you belief in your heart.

The Priest

This is not the role we play in ritual but a role we play in daily life the person that other confide in, a priest offers help without the need to be asked we see when others are in pain and choose to offer support and friendship it a higher self one free from the worry of what others may say. It the part of us that seeks out goodness in others and helps to develop it. It the part of us that strives to be at peace and even isolated from the sounds of the mundane world so we can hear the true voice of the divine.

Now when we look at the role each of us will see them in our own daily lives and we can the look at bringing them in to balance. The is no perfect formula or universal standard as each of us are individuals the best you can hope for is to find that internal balance and make changes to improve it.

Start with the farmer, look at your work life are you happy and productive? What changes do you need to make? Is your working life preventing you from being the spiritual warrior or the priest.

Next the warrior, are you constantly looking for a cause to fight something to give you a purpose? Are you fighting battles with your health or mind (inner demons) ? are you neglecting the role of farmer or priest as you feel your causes are worthy of all your time.

And finally the priest are you spending all your free time seeking spiritual enlightenment forsaking hard work and emotional battles in an attempt to be a better person or living for the needs of others hiding away from the real world?

Once you understand each role you have you can look at your life if it is in balance you should be working for what you need sharing the extras with family and friends have strong convictions to your beliefs and have time to connect with the higher self and divine and life a totally fulfilled life. But sadly life is not like that we all work to hard neglect the important things in the hope of gaining less important things.

A simple technique is to get a bit of paper and write the three headings farmer, warrior and priest and write a list under each heading and review what you see and find ways to improve your life and bring balance where needed most of us find that during our lives the role of the farmer will dominate but if your aware then you can make the changes you need.

Grey Magicks

I am not sure when magicks where broken down in to black or white magicks and tell the truth I am not that interested as it seem to polarise magicks in to good and bad magicks.
Magicks by its self is a neutral tool and with any tool it can be used for any purpose. Magicks can as easliy be turned in to a weapons just as any tool can.
I think we colour magicks to give ourselfs the right to do what we want.
The idea that white magicks is pure and that black magicks are negative is such a stupid idea for those who have studied magicks and witchcraft. If we look at magicks, as a symbol the yin-yang is magick, on the white side there is a black dot and on the black side there is a white spot.
Even magick done for the purest of reasons will cause some harm, as magicks done for the darkest of reason will create some good. Anyone who understands the most basic principles of the hermitic rules will see that even on an atomic level the use of magick will always contain some unwanted result.
The one thing we must bare in mind with magicks and the unseen effects and consequences created from the use of spells. When i first started I would use magicks like their where no limited and it was free, and yes they are no limited but they are not free – with time everyone learns that lesson.
Magicks shold not be seen as black and white rather more as gray , ranging from very light to very dark. the lighter the grey the closer to spirit, the darker the grey the closer to darker human needs.. The use of magick to help others falls somewhere around the middle often in the darker greys.
I have a strong belief in karma and belief now! That magicks should not be used on against or for someone unless you are willing to understand that YOUR actions can and will have an effect.
I am not saying that you should give up magicks they are an important part of witchcraft and neo pagan paths and a great aid to personal and spiritual development I just feel that we need to not be reliant on magicks to solve problems. I have know many many witches and neo pagans in my life many of whom use magicks like it was going out of fashion, Someone is sick let do a healing spell, someone needs money let do a wealth spell what ever the problem the wand is out without forethought to the reasons the person is having these difficulties.
If someone is sick let look at the reasons why they are sick, will their illness that they are going through help them will it cause them to change their ways … the likelihood is that their illness will create a change in their life – if you use magicks to improve their health speed healing the lesson that they would of learned could be lost at worse or soften so the changes that they would of made don’t fully happen.
Often causing the person to have a illness that recurs or worse the change that they would of made don’t happen and they end up with something much worse as a result of your interference.
Sometimes the best action a witch can do is to do nothing even know that they have the power to bring about change through magicks. This does two things I allows the witch to see the outcome without magicks and the second and most important thing it teaches that with power come great responsibility know when to wield power is the greatest understanding any person can achieve.
Like all things in life there are times to use magicks and time to use wisdom it is the greatest goal for any witch to gain wisdom and understanding. As with all things wisdom takes a long time gain if you ever do.
Before using magicks think is their another way to solve your problems, is magicks needed or even required. What is the lesson that needs to be learned?

Signs along the path

Pentagram2 150x150 Signs along the pathWe all are aware of signs and symbols and as pagans Wiccan’s druids etc we are very used to interpreting signs in tarot, tea leafs, crystal ball etc. But do we pay attention to the signs in our lives if like me probably not as much I should.

No Matter what your belief system is we can all agree that we are on a journey which one of the major signs on this journey is death it is our destination but not the end of the journey.

Along this journey their are mile stone in the forms of Birthdays, Anniversaries, Religious Festivals etc that mark off the miles of journey some people have very short journeys whiles other spend some may say far to long on their journey.

If you think of the journey of life as car and driver (the soul being the driver and the car being the body) the driver get in the car and drive till the first mile stone “Birth” Then continues along until the car crashes and is wrote off or until it is so knackered I will not drive any more “Death”. Along this journey there are lots of signs warning signs, diversions and places of interest. Along the way we do stop or get caught in traffic.

For me one of the biggest traffic hold ups for me is getting stuck in jobs I don’t enjoy when applied to the journey they have the same effect as the driver sitting in a traffic jam on a hot day. These traffic jams come in many forms for example being in the wrong relationship, being ill, being unemployed anything that makes you feel like your not moving anywhere stuck or depressed.

There are also ways that your journey can be speed up Just like driving a car these things are things you should not really do! Theirs the “over the fields in a straight line” heading straight for death deliberately suicide get you to the end of this stage of the journey quickly but you would not have learn enough to continue your journey properly and your have your licence revoked and be false to learn to drive from the start very karmic and the “idiot boy racer” and we have all seen this idiot on the road racing along taking risks putting other in harms way, in life these are the people that take drugs ,have risky sex, don’t take care of themselves, the risk takers in banking these drivers although “boy racers” can grow up and continue driving along they of have very battered cars with bits missing or with replacement parts and are responsible for writing of a few cars along the way.

So when living your life journey enjoy your journey don’t drive to fast as you can miss the signs along the way or you will have to turn around and come back on your self to complete your journey.

Now this come to a big question is life a series of random events or is it destined? for me I think of it as a mix of both. My personal belief about the after life is firstly we are all part of the divine energy of the universe The God and Goddess in union and we have become separated from the true oneness so we seek knowledge on how to return to the divine.

We do this by choosing a form to be born into a form that is designed to become one with the divine but at the moment of birth we forget our purpose and have to learn to be ourselves but we do leave ourselves clues and with the goddess’s help we find them in order, and we do but we don’t always use them or put them off. So they get moved further along our journey so we can complete them.

So how do you get to know what sign you should follow in life?

Firstly start listening to the inner voice not the big shouting voice but the quite one behind all the noise let that be your guide, you will need to learn to quieten the loud voice.

Learn to look at your surroundings with better eyes smile at people and say morning to people stop and chat and at the end of the day go over your day what point where important write it all down including what the weather was like what was the moon phase any dreams etc then every few weeks read it over to see if there is any common symbols. Once you can see them you can change direction if you do this for long enough (several years) you can see bigger patters.

As part of your own personal development you would already be keeping some form of notes on your daily life it is important to contain as much detail about your personal life as it is to record your magickal workings. And reread it often!
