Magickal charms and talismans appear in our life as gifts or things we purchase, even non-pagans have their magickal charms even if they do not imbued with magickal properties.

Some of the more common charms are lucky rabbits foot, crucifix, [wikipedia]St Christopher[/wikipedia], pentagram, birthstones, Buddha’s, religious pictures and coins. There are many things that we imbued with magickal properties as I look around my home I notice how many charms I have, [wikipedia]hag stones[/wikipedia], [wikipedia]Rowan berries[/wikipedia], abracadabra triangles and talismans that I have made and a myriad of crystals and [wikipedia]witch bottle’[/wikipedia]s hidden in the garden.

Magickal Charms and talismans can be used for every purpose, although if you create a charm or talisman for a desired purpose you must give it a death date so it does not start drawing energy from you.

The most common talismans are for protection, love and luck. Protection charms can be used to protect people, places and objects. Love Charms are used to draw new love or as symbols to increase love between partners and luck charms are used to increase or change a persons luck.

Charms and Talismans can be used for both negative and positive out comes, sometimes a negative acting talisman can be more effective than a positive one. An example of this is a person instead of creating a charm or talisman to draw love they may be better off creating a talisman that repels bad relationships. But when creating your talisman put as much effort in to creating the sigils and pictography as you can part filling it with energy before you perform the birthing and naming of your talisman.

Some talismans can be objects imbued with energy and purpose while others needs to be created. When creating a charm or talisman think about how you’re going decorate it will you magickal text or symbology. Will you create a Sigel (a great book for Sigel creating is Helrunar: A Manual of Rune Magick by Jan Fries) what material best suits your talisman, paper, wood, clay or metal. You can purchase talismans and charms but you will need to cleanse and charge them for your purpose.

For talismans that have a long life it is a good idea to recharge them, focusing solar and lunar energy works very well.

The first thing any spell or magick needs is a purpose or directs a desired out come. With that in mind then comes the ritual this may be done in or out side a sacred space depending on type of spell being cast. Spells may be in the form of a dance or acting out the desire outcome as in sympathetic magicks, or construction of potions or talismans or even by spoken rhythmic words in the form of Enchantments. The power of the word is very important magicks it is known that ancient god names when pronounced correctly imbue great power into a spell.

The aim next is to raise enough energy to caused the desired effect this raising of energy will take many forms such as dancing singing, chanting and mental skills and tools and ingredient. Once the energy has been built to it maximum it is the release or directed to it goal.

In Neo pagan and Wiccan groups spell casting is preformed in a magick circle at most coven meetings and although techniques vary the spell is normally written so everyone know what they are doing so that everyone energy is focused on the goal. The act of writing a spell help make it real by giving substance.

During these spell casting the quarters would be call the deities invited participants will follow the script of the ritual which would be learned before hand. Singing, dancing, drums will all add to the ritual energy raising and once built the energy would be released and the quarters and deities would be thanked and released.

A book of shadows is a record of your spiritual development, notes of rituals and rite, a record of spell cast and their results, musings and meditations and much more.

You do not need expensive books when you start out A4 pads and note books will as in your first few years you will come across so much information, Stuff that works for you and stuff that does not work.

My personal recommendation is that you start off with a ring binger and a good note book, Start of keeping your note in the ring binder and move important rituals and spell into your book and keep this as a dedicated personal [wikipedia]book of shadows[/wikipedia], you will slowly build up your own record of spell and rituals.

My partner reviews his book of shadows every 3 years and copies stuff that he uses regularly in to a new book which he uses as his working book of shadows for myself I am much less organised, I have notes, scraps of paper all over the shop but that works for me you will find your own way of organising your information and there is nothing saying that you can not create a floppy of shadows ( a digital book of shadows).

So what details should you include in your book of shadows personally I would say add as much extra information as possible in your first few years; the moon phase, the time, the magickal hour, your mood, food eaten, the date, the weather, what your wearing Cialis Without Prescription in fact anything that could help you learn to improve what you are doing.

You will need to review your notes regularly and make note on the patterns you see forming, these will help you gain a greater understanding on how to increase your own power and magickal skill.

If someone say their way is the only right way steer clear as the truly enlighten know that there are many paths to the divine and not one of these paths contain fear in any form.

Although you should not cast spells on people to change them i see this spell as more of a protection spell that also will help someone become a better person.

As I look through the note in my [wikipedia] Book of Shadows[/wikipedia]  it usage is for:-

Stopping bullies or people that are upsetting you so that you will hopefully become friends or at least come to an understanding.

The Equipment and Ingredients

1 Large glass bowl

1 pinch of sugar

Blossom petal

4 drops of Olive Oil

The Words

Let (insert persons name) be,

Rid of evil

Rid of sin

Rid of jealousy and the hatred within.

Let (insert persons name)

Learn to live and work with other.

Especially me

Go Spirits you are free

May (insert persons name) be guided by nature

Place the blossom on the surface so it floats.

Add the sugar to sweeten the offering.

Visualise / [wikipedia] Meditate[/wikipedia]  or just thing about having a day where no bullying happens

Then take the blossom outside and place on ground then take the water pour the water over the blossom repeating the word one last ending with So Mote It Be.

Adaptations

If you happen to live in a flat place the blossom to one side funnel water into a bottle take the blossom to the park and finish the spell their.

If you cant finds a blossom then take a walk with the intent to find a flower a long the way and the right one will be their even if you have to pay for it.

The Aegishjalmur (Ægishjalm) is more commonly known as the helm of awe, The Helm of Awe is magical symbol of protection used by early Vikings. Worn between the eyes, it may have been intended to confer invincibility in the wearer or instil fear in one’s enemies. Today, it is used as a charm of protection by Asatru believers.

The Aegishjalmur (Ægishjalm) would have been drawn on to the forehead or helmet in blood or saliva. The is some debate on whether the Aegishjalmur is a bindrune or not it has the characteristics of a bindrune but at the same time could just be a talisman or charm.

The Aegishjalmur (Ægishjalm )/ The Helm of Awe is based on the numbers 3 and 8 both of which are sacred in the Northern tradition and Oslac and Asatru and the rune Elhaz.

Elhaz when used in magicks or as talisman it signifies protection and can and is used to protect people objects and places.

The Aegishjalmur (Ægishjalm )/ The Helm of Awe is a circular talisman made from 8 evenly spaced spokes with each spoke ending with the rune Elhaz  marked below with 3 straight vertical lines equally spaced.

The pentagram a simple symbol but one that has it roots in history and many religious paths. The pentagram has strong links to black magic, witchcraft and rock music,. The pentagram is a symbol of Unity, the goddess (the orbit of venus produces a five pointed star), the four elements and spirit, the five Chinese elements, the God, and the five wounds of Christ, many others.
The pentagram has be linked to magicks since the mid 19th century but has historical information dating back 3000bc to Sumerian times where it was used as a pictogram for the word “UB” meaning “corner, angle, nook; a small room, cavity, hole; pitfall. You can logically see the reason why the pentagram is used in magicks the idea of creating “a small room” in which magicks where to be preformed by drawing a symbol is still used today in many neopagan and wiccan paths.
The symbol of the pentagram has been adopted as a religious symbol by Wicca’s and some other pagan paths, in the same way Christians adopted the cross. Most wiccan’s and neo pagans will have pentagram rings, pentagram charms, pentagram pendants, pentagram earrings even pentagrams on the books of shadows and tarot boxes they will have them everywhere.
I am not sure that this over exposure to the pentagram has lessened the power of the symbol but it no longer inspires the fear and aw it used to, in days past wearing a pentagram openly was a badge of honour a sense of pride in your beliefs. Nowadays everyone has them in the jewellery box.
The pentagram as a magickal symbol itself is not good or bad it how its used and it has many uses apart from pagan jewellery. The first this to look at is which what you draw it right side up or upside down the easiest way to remember which way to draw one is to remember point up for spiritual endeavours point down for earthly matters.
A higher purpose – spiritual
These are magick that required direct spiritual begins for celebration, paying respect to the spirits and deities
For earthly matters
These are magicks that are for personal benefit rather than spiritual enlightenment.
The upside down pentagram has had a long association with negative magicks and the Devil from the general public and I am not saying that upside down pentagrams are not used for darker magicks outside a spiritual pagan path but within the pagan paths we do not pay the upside down pentagram any real interest.
But the upside down pentagram can and should be used to descend into ones self with the help of the dark god / goddesses to find understanding with in our self we are a result of our actions and those who actions have change and developed us.(ritual to follow)
In the pagan paths the pentagram is drawn in one complete motion and depending on which type of pentagram your drawing depends on your start position. Now it does not matter how you use your pentagram just remember that it is more than just a jewellery symbol but a magickal tool to help you connect with higher forms give it some respect when your drawing it out.
