Where Magick come to life

The Blue witch

Blue Witch 214x300 The Blue witchAs a witch most of my time is spent helping others, now we all know that we can pick up negative energies but we also have to deal with the rule of three and even with the best intent some harm is created. By assisting another to heal we prevent them from suffering, and sometime by not allowing another to suffer and find the solution through personal development, we rob them of a very precious gift.

In the great scheme of thing the damage we do in very minimal and the backlash barely affect us if at all. But for some of us that backlash builds and explodes which can shake our lives to the very core.

Now these explosions either manifest in the real world as periods of bad luck or ill fortune or can affect the physical self and result in illness.

This illness is normally a recurring complaint such as a back pain or Psoriasis or even depression or other mental health issues.

Now as witches our health is very important to us because we use our own energies to raise and direct energies to our will, so when we are unwell our energies are difficult to control making spiritual practice almost impossible.

This can lead to feelings of failure, which can be very disheartening so we try harder to be spiritual which only leads us deeper down the path to failure. For some it like the mother has taken our toys away and is punishing us for something we have done. But others it just seen as being unwell so the dose up and focus all their will on getting better.

Now I am witch who experiences these patterns in my life they appear about every 5 years my recurring illness flares up and it takes time to fully recover when they started in my teens I was given lost of tests and pills to cope and after a few weeks I would feel better so pills stopped and within a few months it would all be back so cycle would start once more after a longer period of medication I recovered.

As I got into Wicca and then witchcraft and pagan life I began to realise that when illness struck me that my spiritual self suffered as soon as the medication was required. This feeling made it difficult to want to be on medication but when the choice is pain or relief? Relief will always win!

So when I am on medication I don’t do anything practical such as spell work or formal ritual work not because I feel that it will dishonour my goddess to do ritual work when under influence of medication but more because I know that she want me to find a way to her without the need for ritual. And each day I great my goddess and the day and spend a little time with her communicating on a personal level.

Now in the past I have asked my coven to assist in helping feel better but have found that even magickal intervention has the same reaction as medication it only works for a while.

But what I have learned over the years and recurring bouts is that there are things in our life that teach us great lessons and we can ignore them because we are not ready to accept our new level of knowing. But we will keep returning to the path we have set ourselves on.

Now I believe that we are all born on this earth with a purpose one we chose before we are born we chose the family we are born into the life style we will live. During birth we lose all memories of what lie before and after and our goal in this form. So as we travel along our path we are free to choose our own route and when we get to far off of our path a signpost will appear redirecting us back to our goal. We can ignore these signs but at some point the Universe will put a roadblock and force you back on your correct path (sometime with a slap around the head).

Periods of illness are signposts not to redirect you but to get you to rest and think we must learn to accept the moment and experience it in it fullest. Now not every illness is curable and life ends which is hard for both the sufferer and the family but focusing on the moment and not on the past or future much is shared. We have to remember that Illness is not a curse or blight on your life but a natural part of the universe. Buddhist practice contains a lot about living in the moment and since Buddhism is a philosophy it easy for many pagans to adopt many of it ideals.

So when we are unwell we need to accept the situation and experience in all of it wonder a poem call Liver each moment expresses this idea –

I may never see tomorrow,
there is no written guarantee.
And things that happened yesterday,
belong to history

I cannot predict the future,
I cannot change the past
I have just the present moment,
I must treat it as my last

I must use this moment wisely,
for it will soon pass away
And be lost to me forever,
as part of yesterday

I must exercise compassion,
help the fallen to their feet.
Be a friend unto the friendless,
make an empty life complete

The unkind things I do today,
may never be undone
And friendships that I fail to win,
may never more be won

I may not have another chance
on bended knee to pray
And thank God(dess) with humble heart,
for giving me this day

This is for any one unwell. You are ill for a reason only once you remove the idea of getting well in the future will you be able to experience the moment. It’s the moments that final count not the dreams of what was and what never was.
